hey killers!

i just was wondering if i'm the only one - i saw what the guy answered for the tire burning and carbon credit on lighttech's thread. i still don't get it. am i thick or is he being a little you-know-what?

i like the idea of the quiet time. i'll have to try that. i NEED it!! i also have a non-stop talker. it's amazing what they know, but it can be maddening at times!

vent away....we all need to do it. DS is going to be 15 this month so I guess that is what I have to look forward to. :rotfl: I don't even want to think about it at this point.

I have some good news about DS. He is the one that we have the most problems with....been to counseling with, etc. He is usually very irresponsable and self-centered. He had finals today (which I knew all about) and early dismissal. After finals today, he called home and told me that he forgot to tell us last night that he had early dismissal today and he would be right home. I know it sounds like so little to be happy about but thinkgs had been getting really bad with him. And I made sure I told him how proud I was of him for thinking of calling and actually doing it. I was on :cloud9: for the rest of the day.

And I just might end up helping SIL plan her trip to WDW. If they go in Feb. there is no way they can afford to go in Nov. And as much as SIL annoys me, I really would like to see DB and DNephew have a good time down there.

Thanks,, I just needed to vent. great news on DS:woohoo: . I think your right about trip and SIL:thumbsup2

So hang in there and keep venting...I'm sure they do to their friends too.

:rotfl2:, oh I bet they do!!:scared1:

Hi guys! Haven't been on in a couple of days and had to catch up! Too much to comment on, but it's been interesting reading :)

Glad mom's surgery went well :goodvibes

AUDisFan - DH is in Opelika this week for a work conference at the Marriott Golf Resort. He says it's really nice!

Great job on quitting smoking! :thumbsup2 I know it's hard. I grew up in family where everyone smoked - parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc. My dad quit in his late 50's, but my mom never did until she couldn't remember how to anymore (she had Alzheimer's).

I'm an English person (hate Math), and DH is the opposite (he's an electrical engineer), so that works out good with helping our kids study. Surprisingly, DD takes after Dad and loves Math, so she does her Algebra on her own during the day and he helps her at night if she needs it. We use Teaching Textbook, Shmu - what do you use?

I walked for 1 hour Monday & Tuesday, but my knee is so stiff and painful that DD convinced me last night to cut back to every other day for awhile, so I'm taking today off. I hate to do it because I'm afraid I'll quit (like always), but then again, I do want to be able to walk in Disney next week!

Sorry, I can't help with the car situation. None of my kids really cared about cars that much. When oldest DS was 16 we bought him a 1987 Toyota Corolla for $1,000. They affectionately nicknamed it "The Ghetto". When he went to college we bought him a new Honda and middle DS inherited the Ghetto. He went to college this fall and we bought him a new Honda and now DD has the Ghetto. I'm surprised it's still running, but hopefully it'll last until she goes to college - then it can retire, LOL.
Just make sure you have her do all your errands for you - driving will get old pretty fast! ;)

Dreamin', that is good news about your DS. See, they do (eventually) become more responsible :)

Well, I said it was too much to comment on, but then I did anyway :confused3

Oh well, have a great day, everyone! :thumbsup2
Thanks. :rotfl: :rotfl2: the Ghetto, I love it and look at the family tradition you started passing it down from one child to the next:rotfl:.

oh no.....i killed us!!

:rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2:

hey killers!

your not thick, your right he was being a little you-know-what:rolleyes1.

I hear you all about the nonstop talkers. All 3 of the girls talk continually. From the moment they wake up until they fall asleep. Some days I just sit with my eyes glazed over, nodding my head in agreement hoping they will run out of things to say. :rotfl2:

Naps? What are those? I have a distant memory of DD4 taking them but it's not to clear anymore. I need the naps now. And I have also left all my kids to play quietly in their crib. I don't think it's crazy. I think it teaches a little independence. They learn to entertain themselves for a while and there is nothing wrong with that. I know some kids who can's spend 5 minutes playing by themselves and I think that would really drive me nuts.

Well, off to make dinner before DH gets home. Oh yeah, another great day for DS. Keeping my fingers crossed. :goodvibes

dreamin in pa- how nice that your DS was considerate, makes you feel like maybe they are listening. :thumbsup2

HEY! Guess what everybody?

It's SNOWING!!! :cold:

I can't believe it! I know it doesn't mean much to you guys that live up North, but it hasn't snowed here in several years, so it's pretty cool! It's really big, beautiful flakes. I just keep looking out the window in amazement. :goodvibes

Holy snowflakes batman:rotfl2:. Just wanted to keep it clean:goodvibes. It's snowing in AL:confused3 How cool for you, and we NE people get what a big deal it is:thumbsup2. The kids must love it. My DN was on his way home from Iraq a couple of days ago (his DD had a heart attack and is not in good health to begin with), he was granted Emergency leave and I get up and hear on the news that it was snowing in Bagdad. I though oh great, they don't no how to handle snow there, it will take days more till he gets home:eek:.

Right now I am doing something very difficult trying to dis and cook dinner:rotfl:.

Hey, has anyone noticed how many on this thread are from PA? Or, do I just pick up on the ones that are since I am?

We're just a bunch of killers here!

I do think he's not all there!
Remember all the talking they do now trains them for talking when they get teenagers! :scared1: Keep those communication lines open...

Love your little cold smilie...need him for tomorrow...snow is supposed to come. It was just white on the grass yesterday. I guess walk will include shoveling. Think warm thoughts

Happy snowy Wed into Thurs! It is going to snow here again tonight 2-3 inches. Not as shocking to us as it is down south. Unfortuately we don't shut down here up nort' der hey. Wish we did though. I think everyone should be required to shut down and just go out and play on a snowy day. We'd all enjoy the winters more.

I too miss my children napping. It was such a nice quiet time. When they got to big to nap I still had my kids take some "quiet time" in the afternoons where they must do something quiet on their beds. My youngest usually ends up sleeping, but at least he thinks he doesn't have to "nap".

Went to a seminar today (with fellow colleagues) on Love and Logic discipline. Very interesting. Can't wait to start trying this at home. Anyone else try Love and Logic? If so, how's it working for you?

Well, (yawn) I'm off to bed. That reminds me of another thing I wish humans did - hibernate for the winter. Maybe not all of winter, just Jan - Mar so we could still do Christmas.
Good Night All!!!

PS, don't look out the window, go out and play:banana:

that's the best idea! hope you enjoyed it praise2him!!

good morning killers!

Praise2Him - Glad your DH is enjoying Opelika. I've never been inside the Marriott, but I've heard it's really nice. Has he gotten to see any more of the area?

His sister lives in Auburn so he's going to see her today on his way home. I'm sure he'll also drive around through campus too (he's an alumnus).

Holy snowflakes batman - LOL How funny! :lmao:

Hope your DN made it home okay. I'm sorry to hear about the bad health news and hope everything's going to be all right. I didn't know it snowed in Baghdad either! :confused3

PS, don't look out the window, go out and play:banana:

Sorry, but I'm not an outside type of girl! Looking suits me just fine :rotfl:

Have fun with the snow! I guess shoveling is good exercise :)

2 - 3 inches - lucky you! I agree - y'all should have a "Snow Day" and just have fun! :goodvibes

I've never heard of Love and Logic, but it sounds interesting. Tell us more!

Here's some pixiedust: for you to get lots of snow!

Have a great day everyone! :goodvibes

Love and Logic---sounds good but I'm not too sure about the Logic part.
I want warm pixie dust to melt the snow---it's coming but don't know how much.

Good Morning TK's:hippie:
Snowed here in GA last night too. We lost power for about 3 hours. Family played cards by flashlight.
My son (18) went outside with a big coat and flip flops. :confused3 Said he walked in the snow barefoot.
The best part of the snow for us was, my niece (19) moved to GA last March from Florida. This was her FIRST snow. She was SOOO excited. She made a itty bitty snowman.

We use Teaching Textbook, Shmu - what do you use?
We are using VideoText. Kids and I like the program.:thumbsup2

Did anyone watch Deal or No Deal last night? We were watching it and was really routing for the Army Wife and power went off on the last 10 min. of the show. How much money did she win?

Sorry---I was watching my 2 fav ACC basketball teams. Duke and UNC (sorry GA Tech) both won! I also like UVA.

Morning everybody! No snow here yet either. They keep predicting that we are going to get a couple of inches but it always seems to miss us. My poor kids get all excited thinking it will snow and then nothing.

D&DDisney-yeah, more info on Love & Logic. It does sound interesting. And I am always looking for new ideas on how to keep things running on the up and up here.

Hope your DN made it home okay. I'm sorry to hear about the bad health news and hope everything's going to be all right. I didn't know it snowed in Baghdad either! :confused3

Thanks, he did make it home and they then had a 12 hour trip to his parents. The army flew him to KS, since DN is 30 weeks Pregnant and she couldn't do the trip alone. They are there, and DN's DD is doing better.
Love & Logic:confused3, never heard about it, do tell.

Good Morning TK's:hippie:

:dance3: Yeah snow in GA, Big coats and flip flops:rotfl2: love it!

Good morning Killers, I do think everyone deserves a good snow day:thumbsup2. We haven't had one yet, but I'm sure its only a matter of time. I hate when we get it over MLK weekend since everyone is off anyway! It's just more fun, when you see that snow coming down and start to see the school closings coming across the TV screen:woohoo:. The big thing in DS's class is when the are predicting snow. to wear their PJ's inside out:laughing:. It is grey and moist I don't know how far north the storm front is going to come:confused3, then again the weather people usually don't either:rotfl:.

Do you think we will ever get back email notifications:confused3 and I've notice the times on the post go back and forth. Sometimes correct sometimes totally off:confused3.

Okay killers, check your PM's sent you all a little surprise. Hope I got all the screen names correct so that it gets to you:confused3 . Noticed whgrn, hasen't posted (aka Jersey Girl), hope all is well with her and she's just been busy. Should try to get some stuff done, but lazy today and DD gets out at 12:10 (exam week). Update on weather we could be getting sleet:scared1: starting at 2. I asked for a snow day, not sleet!
