Thoughts on Salvation?

I dont 'get the meaning of Religious "salvation"...as a one time only process. It always came across as more of a legal loophole than the will of God.

My own belief is to try to be a good person your whole life. Follow the 10 Commandments & the Golden Rule until your final breath!!!!!

For the most part, I believe once saved, always saved. I believe salvation is a gift, and that it is not because we earned it through our good behavior, but rather that we receive it because we realize we are not capable of attaining being worthy of God through our actions. Therefore, I can't grasp that sinning (bad actions) could cause us to lose it.

However, the Bible says that if someone blasphemes the Holy Spirt they will not be forgiven, so I believe that if someone is guilty of doing that, then they lose their salvation. Now what exactly the definition of blaspheming the Holy Spirit is can be open to debate, I honestly am not sure what all that encompasses - if it means simply denying God or if it means something more.
