Thoughts on refurbished Autopia?

My family got on line at rope drop. Unfortunately it was down when we were about to get on. We did get a pass to ride late (felt bad for people who just left the line without knowing about the pass). Planning to ride it after my BB PTN pkg.

Rode today after it breaking down and getting a fast pass for it. Some new cars some old cars (still some ugly brown cars haha).
A child that rode prior to it breaking down had an old car and the steering wheel was falling off..it looked like it melted all over his hands because they were black and the dad was talking to a CM.
Not cool.

That's too bad they didn't improve the cars, other than paint. Are they offering Fast Passes for it (besides for when it breaks down)?

I don't believe they have fast pass just the ones for technical difficulty. We got them for several rides throughout our trip this week.

I have never really cared for the Autopia. I am hoping that my son doesn't want to do this one.
Really.... it is one of my favorite memories of my little girl taking me for a drive. She was so proud of herself

Cars and other parts had a shiny new paint job. Also a new sign that looks nice enough. I dont remember smelling the fumes like I usually do so thats a plus. It was on and off during the day.

And I have many memories of the various car rides I went on as a kid. I adored them. Still do.

I thought they were getting rid of it entirely, and I've been mourning it for months. They didn't? It's still there?

I'm a very happy camper.

So, we went on after the firework last night. (Which was stop just in short of the finale) It was my first time on autopia. The ride is def better than the counterpart at MK. All the cars look beautiful with a new shiny coating. The Honda logo is on every hood. I think the gas smell is not as strong as MK as well. Too bad the ride is down again this morning or I would ride it again.

I totally agree with this statement...you talk about a wasted piece of land, they should either revamp it or get rid of it!!! As for Autopia, we really liked it when we rode it a few years ago. I was bummed to learn that it was going down for a long refurbishment and was hoping that it would reopen by the time we return in June...we are so excited to ride it again :goodvibes.

We rode this yesterday. The shiny cars looked nice enough, and I didn't notice any strong fume smells. But it's still quite loud. I haven't rode it in 9 years.. so I'm not the best to describe any differences. It seemed pretty similar to me though.

Interesting! My daughter was complaining about the sticky steering wheel and she had a little bit of black stuff on her hands when we were done. I thought she was just being difficult (as she didn't love the ride, lol. She could barely reach the gas pedal, so I had to help and she wasn't happy ;) ). I wonder if they put something on the old steering wheels during the refurb?!

The cars look cool, if there isnt a huge wait we will ride this no doubt about it on our next visit

I've never done Autopia, it always looked lame to me. I drive too much in real life as it is. ;) Hmm, maybe we should try it this next time?

We always mean to ride it and just don't. Maybe this summer. I used to go on it all the time growing up, even as an adult before going with my DD

My son is tall but I think it was only on our last trip (he's 11) that he could reach and press the pedal all the way down for the whole ride.

If he expressed displeasure, well, it's his body that's torso-heavy and leg-shrimpy. ;)

We've noticed an issue with hand grip areas on rides for awhile. TSMM had been awful in terms of material getting gross from all the hands on it.

It is fun if you're in the right mindset. :)

To those of you that have recently ridden, are the cars easier to pedal than in the past (at least from my vague memory of a couple years ago)?

LOL, that's what I remember about them when I was a kid in the 60's. It was so stiff I couldn't keep the pedal down. Then as an adult I found it was still stiff!
Hope they fixed that age old issue for the kids.

^Oh no lol, sorry to hear that Indiana Scott. I have no memory of thinking about the pedals one way or another as a kid just that I thought it was awesome to get to "drive." I also until a couple years ago had not ridden Autopia for a number of years. So my perception of the "new" harder to pedal cars could have been the way they always were but I honestly don't remember. I never liked the fumes and wish DL would fix that! Happy driving everyone :)

I have a picture of myself on autotopia with my grandma when I was no more than 5 hanging on my wall right now. I always try to ride it when we go because I always think of that picture and how happy and simple life could be and that I need to remember to recreate those moments for myself and my son.

It's very nostalgic for me like all of the fantasy land classic rides. I also have a family photo of me, my sister, my mom and my grandma In the teacups and a matching one of me and my sister and our kids in them today right next to it.

Half of the disney Magic is being taken back in time and being a kid again. That's why I hope it stays right where it is and why I always ride it. I would love to see little Teslas though. Elon Musk if you read this I think you should be the next sponsor for autotopia.

We didn't ride on Saturday, but we were able to check out the new paint on a few cars while we were waiting in line for the Matterhorn; they looked really nice!

We rode it Saturday and some seem shinier than us. Other than that, the ride is the same. Still one of my daughters favorite. :)
