Thoughts on birthday party for teens.

She hates the beach, hates walking in sand, has never liked swimming in the ocean (ewwww fish poop in there!!!) and she is not thrilled about swimming in a pool (I don't want chlorine in my hair!!) --she just is not into the whole "water thing" since she was about 11. She does wear shorts though- even at summer camp a bunch of the girls never do the swimming part because it would mess up their make up --- yes they wear make up at summer camp ROFLMAO.

ooohh! Gotcha! That's much better than the "I don't look good in a bathing suit" mentality.

Funny how different girls can be. DD would spend every day all summer in the sand and ocean if she could. What time she isn't on the beach, she is in the pool. In fact we are going swim suit shopping this weekend and I have already told her to go ahead and buy more than one up front because she is always needing another one to "finish out" the summer and they get hard to find; her's always gets worn out about midway through.

I think my 14 year old would be happy with just having kids over for pizza and a bonfire. Maybe it's just around here but I don't hear of many parties at places much after 12. It's more like atking a few kids out to dinner or house parties.

I would just have everyone at your home for dinner, cake, and a bonfire. Is this a milestone birthday?

I agree. That's what a lot of the kids here do, or they rent a building some where and hire a DJ and have a dance party. Even those are starting to die down a bit.

A friend of my daughters had a party and they had a local band come play for them. They had a bonfire and all of that too. She said it was a lot of fun. The kids just want to hang out so it was great.

WEll now, don't you know that girls wear makeup to the beach, lol. Mine also straightens her hair before going. :confused3

:rotfl: Mine does too! The morning of the trip they have to be at school 45 minutes earlier than usual. She will get up very early and have a full face of make-up and that hair straightened to perfection. I told her to just make sure she does it quietly while I sleep a few extra minutes.

When she and her bff go to the local waterpark or to the beach--make up and hair straightened-- and it last all of about 3 minutes when they get there. LOL

Crazy isn't it? I try and remember what it was like to be a teen girl, and I do remember doing the same thing. I also wear a bit of makeup when going to the beach. More as an extra added sunscreen type thing.

It's for her 16th. She's never had a big party. Last year she had 4 firends over. They did a huge water balloon fight, with her brother. We did hamburgers and the bon fire. She would just like to do something bigger for her 16th, which I understand. She's actually thinking a lot smaller than most of her firends, knowing that the budget is tighter for us than most all of her close friends.

She said while going to the really cool bowling alley would be nice, she knows that it's to expensive. With that, I looked at the other bowling alley close to us. They could go bowling for 2 games, with 6 on each lane and it would only run me $81.00. That includes the cost of shoes. That seems a lot better cost. Same distance to both from our place.

So, I think that is what we are going to do. She also said something about water balloons again, but we will see about that later. All of the kids she has said she was asking would love the water balloons. Over half of them are going to another party the week prior that is going to have water gun tag being played. These kids don't have an issue with getting wet, then hanging out.

Well being its her 16th birthday i dont see that the bowling party and pizza is extravagant at all! That is downright reasonable for a girl and her 16th birthday!

This is one of the big reason why I want to get bang for my buck. She knows what the money issues are. She knows how hard it has been with extended unemployment and major health issue bills. She's given up things because we don't have the budget for them. She isn't asking for the moon and the stars with this party.

She did joking tell her uncle last night that he totally ruined her wickedly awesome 16th birthday plans, when he didn't buy the house the the pool that he looked at. If he had bought that, she would have wrapped him around her little finger, working on a huge pool party and cookout.
