This priest will make most cynics cry

LC is my favorite musician. I've seen him twice live and hearing him sing this gives me goosebumps. The only tears I would cry at this are of frustration/pain... I did not like it

I cried and would feel blessed if the person marrying my children was that committed to them.

Thank you for posting, and I hope no one makes it religious to get it closed.

I would say he could be the next American Idol, but I think the cutoff is 28 years old.

Yeah... I hope noone makes a post talking about cynics that links an article from The Christian Post featuring a priest singing a song called "hallelujah" religious. That would be totally off-base.

I thought religious post were against the rules?

Trying to look at this objectively, I'd argue that this is not a religious post. It's a wedding officiant, who happens to be a priest, singing his own lyrics to the tune of 'Hallelujah' (the song from Shrek, by Leonard Cohen). His lyrics are about the couple he's marrying on their wedding day. Neither the priest's lyrics nor LC's original version strike me as "religious". Just because something has the word 'priest' or 'hallelujah' in it, does not make it a religious post.

That said, I've always really liked this song and thought it was very creative and sweet of the priest to write his own version for the couple.

I think the title of the thread is what makes it a religious thread.

"This priest will make most cynics cry"

What do you mean by "cynic"?

I'm not religious, and this did not make me cry. Odd post.

Yea, that is rather snarky to us pagans, huh? :lmao:

It was certainly a beautiful part to the couple's wedding for sure. I guess he wanted his "day" as well. ;)

Now what is interesting TO ME is that they allowed video during the wedding. Around my area the Catholic churches will not allow the service to be video taped.

Agree that the title of the thread could be conceived as questionable, but the video itself is just a cool lead-in to a wedding. As long as there is no debate of christianity vs atheism or other religions, I don't see it as anything that should be removed.

DH showed me this video this morning. Maybe this is rude of me, but I wouldn't have liked the priest singing this big "surprise" song. I thought it was weird to change the words to a very well known song and it seemed to turn all the attention on HIM rather than the bride and groom.

He told them he was going to sing and he is known for singing at weddings. It wasn't about getting attention for himself.

For those of you who think this has anything to do with religion need to get a grip.

How nice he made the wedding about himself instead of the bride and groom.

Is it religious by nature as it's a priest and the title addresses cynics?? :confused3

I mean, I don't care, but there's nothing NOT religious about this, IMO.
