On a related topic:

Once upon a time, there used to be direct Disney transportation between the parks and DTD. Last time we went (12/2005), this had ceased, and we had to connect through a resort when we wanted to travel from DTD and the Studios.

Does anyone know if this is still the case?

Yes, it is still the case.

Disney stopped direct transportation between the parks and DTD because tons of people were taking advantage of the free parking at DTD and going to the parks from there. People who wanted to go to DTD to shop couldn't find a parking space.

I am sorry that somebody did that to you, that is terrible. I saw that as well. As a matter of fact, I posted in one of those threads and somebody who posts like wildfire on this very TPASS forum kept arguing that it was not true.

Perhaps this will give a little something extra for the moderators to look out for - not only moderation of board rules, but also false information being given out...and it should not matter how many posts somebody has. ;)
I hope it wasn't me who was disagreeing with you!

BTW OP, I remember that thread well, that poster also insisted that the Poly was a short 5 to 8 min walk to MK, and kept arguing, never admitting that they were wrong.

Disney offers DIRECT transportation between ALL of the parks!!! Yes, I know, to some of us this is very common knowledge. But, over the last few months I have seen a number of posts from people, who have been there 3, 4, 5 times or more, posting that there is no bus service between the parks and that you have to go to a resort to transfer. One of the people was a DVC owner that had been to Disney 4 times.:confused3 Just a few weeks ago a DISer whose signature said they had been to Disney at least 7 times, PM'd me and told me I was liar and that I should stop trying to trick people and telling them that there was bus service between the parks and that they were going to report me to the mods (no, I'm not kidding!):scared1: Now, just a few minutes ago I saw the same misinformation posted on one of the other DIS threads. I don't know why this bothers me so much, other than the fact that it is such an important piece of information for new people who are trying to figure out how to tour the parks and if they can really make use of their park hoppers. So, I'm going to post some info previously posted by ROBO on another thread so people will have accurate information:

(Quote)There IS, most certainly, "direct" transportation between all the WDW theme-parks.
Most routes are via Disney Buses.

Here are the "park-to-park" Disney Transportation direct connections:

>Note: The MK buses connections arrive and depart only at TTC.<

MK/TTC> Epcot = Monorail
MK/TTC> DHS = Bus
MK/TTC> AK= Bus

AK> DHS= Direct Bus
AK> Epcot= Direct Bus
AK> TTC/MK= Bus

DHS> TTC/MK= Bus
DHS> AK= Direct Bus
DHS> Epcot= Direct Bus (Epcot Front Gate) or Boat (Epcot Intl. Gateway)
......Boats ("Friendships") make 3 interim stops at the Epcot area resorts.)

Epcot > TTC/MK= Monorail
Epcot > AK= Direct Bus
Epcot> DHS= Direct Bus (Epcot Front Gate) or Boat (Epcot Intl. Gateway)
......Boats ("Friendships") make 3 interim stops at the Epcot area resorts.)

The buses have their destinations shown on them on illuminated signs.
The bus stops are also marked with signage.(End Quote)

Thank you for sitting through my rant!:thumbsup2

Thanks for the info

Back in 1998 or so, there was a Direct Bus from Coronado Springs to the Boardwalk!;) About a year later, it was gone.:sad1: My DS and I went there one day, and we had a blast.;) Anyone else remember this?

I'm getting ready to go to Disney for the 5th time in my 33 yrs of existence this fall and I know you can take buses from any park to TTC and transfer to another park that way.

The one thing I do remember as a kid was that you didn't have to get off the monorail at TTC and transfer to another monorail to get to Epcot. I could be wrong but I swear we didn't have to do that. Wish they still did it that way.

Don't sweat it. It's not worth it.

You always had to change monorails at the TTC to go to Epcot. Before Epcot opened and they were building it, when you got on the monorail in MK or TTC, they took you all the way to Epcot so you could see it. Mk- Epcot-TTC. TTC-Epcot-MK. Maybe that is what you are remembering.

There is NOT direct service from the parks to DTD. That is the only place that you would have to go to a resort then transfer to the DTD bus.

A couple of years ago, because of this same problem (nobody believing there were direct busses between parks, we took pictures of the signs.

Here are most of the signs at the parks showing the bus stops to the other parks. I couldn't find the Epcot picture we took.

If you notice on the TTC sign, there is paint where it used to say "Downtown Disney"

Also, for those that don't remember that TTC meant "Ticket and Transportation Center" in stead of Transportation and Ticket Center(WDW switched it a while back), if you go to bus stop no11 at DHS, the sign still says Ticket and Transportation Center.

If it DID used to be called "Ticket and Transportation Center" (and from my memory, I think it DID) the sign at DHS would not be considered an indicator that "proved" it, as DHS was built after they started calling it "Transportation and Ticket Center," as I recall.

So that DHS sign was likely just made in error.

I remember that thread as well, I couldn't believe that somebody that had as many posts as she did would be so stubborn and rude!

Well now...to be perfectly fair...if you hop on the monorail at the Polynesian and then start 'walking in place', it will take about 8-10 mins to get to MK.:thumbsup2

Your right. I had a question about how to get from AK to Epcot (getting there the fastest way) and it said to take a bus to DTD and then to Epcot. A MOD read my thread and I told her about the transportation section of the boards (not the forum but the section) and she went and checked it out for herself and admitted that it DEF. needs to be updated.

Someone needs to really update that section BADDDDD. I would feel really bad for those who have never been to disney before, saw that section and got to Disney and followed their instructions when its very simple - take a bus from that park to the next.

Its obvious that a whole lot of people dont know how to get around from park to park. Im sure there are a lot of people who go down, especially first timers, who take a resort bus and then take a bus to a park. Maybe Disney needs to set up a ticket station at all parks and DTD. That way in order to get on a bus you have to stop by the ticket counter and then get a ticket that will say AK to Epcot > Board Epcot bus or something like that and then have the drivers take the tickets as they board the bus. They could set up computerized ticket stations all over the park and outside the park by the bus stops that way all they have to do is just touch the screen with their finger the park they wanna go to and prints out a ticket.

Or maybe print the info on the park maps. They could very easily just have one more section on the map with the info how to get from park to park. Or maybe when they check into their hotel for both on and off site have them hand out a broucher or a sheet of paper how to get from park to park.

I actually didn't know this until a few days ago. The DIS does need to change their Transportation section then, it says to go from AK to DHS - to take a bus to DTD then DHS.:confused3 Not sure when the direct buses started...we have been driving our rental car to every park so I have paid attention since 2001. :goodvibes

I thought the only way to get to MK from Epcot is by monorail. And if you CAN take a bus from epcot to MK, why would you do that when you can just get on the monorail?

I know it sounds strange, but we waited 25 minutes one morning for the MK bus and it just did not come so we hopped on the Epcot bus and then when we arrived at Epcot got on the bus for MK. We weren't in a hurry so it was just a relaxing ride that morning!

Im kinda confused by your post. Are you saying that in order to get to MK either from park or resort you HAVE to go to TTC 1st and then take a bus or monorail to MK? I knew that about from park to MK, but I thought there was direct bus service from Resorts to MK and from MK back to resorts.

It's easy to assume there is no direct buses from MK to anywhere else though, because unlike the other parks, they are NOT with the resort buses! It's kind of hidden in a corner at the TTC. We finally discovered this about 2 trips ago...out of 15 trips!!! And there was maybe a handful of people there waiting to be picked up.

Are you sure the TTC was called Transprt... before DHS openned? Was the change right around that time?

Now my memory isn't as good as it used to be (or at least as good as I think it was;) ). But, my first trip to WDW was in June of 1989 (right after MGM openned) and I must have had paperwork showing it called Ticket.... since that is what I've always called it.

There is direct transportation to the MK gates from your resort and from the MK gates back to your resort. You DO NOT have to go to the TTC.

I do not ever recall the TTC being refered to as the Ticket and Transportation Center.

I've always known TTC to be ticket and transportation center. Not Transportation and ticket center. But I just looked on disneyworld.com and it says Transportation and Ticket Center.

Interesting, maybe I never paid attention to what it was called.

Can I get from any of the water parks to any of the theme parks? Or, do I have to go back to my resort?

Or maybe people could just read the clearly labelled signs and follow them directly to the right bus? :confused3 I don't see how it's confusing at all to tell you the truth. By instinct alone, wouldn't people be looking for a sign to direct them and, failing that, wouldn't they just ask a CM?
