It was mentioned that she is a junior in HS, so that would definitely make her 16 or 17.
My thoughts...
1. The purchase of the smoker made zero sense in that scene. I get that it will tie in later, but way it was brought into this episode felt very forced. It's sad that we're starting to see the demise of Kate and Toby.
2. I too was glad that Kevin didn't go for the young co-star. It shows he's actually maturing. I felt awful for him in this episode, but overall I think he and Madison are doing a pretty good job of co-parenting given their situation. Kevin needs his own house for sure.
3. I LOVED Beth in this episode. She is so good at calming Randall down and being the voice of reason. I think they're going to have to help Deja see Malik in a responsible way. As Deja said, it's likely to happen whether they support it or not, so they might as well help her with chaperoned visits of some sort.
When Deja met her boyfriend, he was 16 and she was '2 years younger'. How long have they been going out? If she is now 16 and he is 18, then it's rape.
Anyways, you don't let your daughter even at 16 or 17 have a weekend sleepover with a boyfriend. And if you do, you don't expect nothing to happen.
Regarding Toby and Kate, I thought that the original idea of the show was for both the actors who played Toby and Kate to lose weight and watch their transitions. Toby lost the weight, Kate never did. So they've got to change it, I guess.
The storyline where Kate met her ex-boyfriend from 20 years previous made no sense at all. Why would you gain 200 pounds then want to confront an ex-boyfriend and make him upset/jealous in any way? He's more relieved he left you now.
