When we stayed at the Yacht Club concierge level, we did not receive any mailing prior to the stay nor did we receive our key in advance. We checked in at the front desk of the Yacht Club, perhaps the least magical place in all of WDW.

Joe Cool...thanks so much for this FAQ....It's the best!!!!

I have read through the entire thing and still have a question, though I apologize if I missed it and the answers in here somewhere.

Other than the suites, are there connecting rooms on all of the floors? Do you know which ones they are?

I am traveling with DW, 4 DKs and DGram who will have a separate room(hopefully connecting) and the kids will rotate sleeping in Grnadma's room.

Any information is greatly appreciated.

Tigman, there are connecting rooms on every floor at both hotels. I don't know which ones they are yet. The places are so big, though, that I doubt one CM would have the patience to read them to me. Stay tuned.

bat4less, 5179. From personal experience, at least. It's smack dab in the center of the hotel, about six doors away from the Regatta Club lounge, with a view of Illuminations (if you sort of look left, but not crane your neck) and the Boardwalk.

That room has two queen beds and a daybed. Personally, I preferred 4163, the corner room we had in January. You can stay concierge and still request this room...this is a new thing, I believe. Regatta Club guests, paying the Concierge rate, have basically a choice of any guest room in their view category. So you can request 4163 and still have access to the Concierge. This room was wider and longer than a regular room (believe me I checked...lol), and corner windows add some much needed natural light, making anything else seem dark by comparison. Plus, the two queen beds without a daybed opened up the space, made it seem even bigger.

Can illuminations be viewed from BC rooms? If so, which BC concierge room would be best to ask for? We would really like two queens, a day bed, a great view, and to be close to the concierge lounge... the maps confuse me.... any thoughts?
TIA

Just checking back in with some update info...I just updated the Guest Rooms, Swimming, and Concierge sections on the first page, and I added the Morning Coffee section under In-Room Dining.

Ciao,

JC

Joe/Batless - We stayed in 5179 about 3 weeks ago. It has a connecting room, but there is no daybed - only 2 queens. Joe, your right, it's smack dab in the middle of YC and only a stones throw from the concierge lounge. We loved it!!!!

I was in room 5174, even though it was NOT a water or lagoon view it was a great room. no day bed though, just two gueens and it was also a connecting room. It was the perfect room for us.

Woa. Last March there was a daybed in 5179. They must have taken it out. I definitely can cofirm the previous existence of a daybed cuz...um...I slept in it. :)

I think they took the daybed out because it opened up more space in the room, makes architectural sense to me.

Illuminations? BC? I'm looking at the property map, and I believe that from some of the third, fourth and fifth floor rooms at the ends of the waterfront wings. Check the floor plans for details.

We just got back from the greatest week at the BC and Disney. The week after Labor Day is great!!! No lines for anything. We rode rides over and over again. The kids loved it. No lines for rides, transportation or dining. We say every character many many times and they each spent plenty of time with each child. We saw characters I didnt know existed.

The Beach Club is the BEST. We had a standard room at $170 per night. At check in we immediately got upgraded to a beautiful full water view room with full balcony, 2 queen beds and a day bed. I couldnt have asked for or paid for a better room. The location of that resort is great.

Full run of Stormalong Bay with never a line or lack of chairs. Never had 1 person in front of us at the water slide. The kids must have slid 100 times each day.

The Boardwalk was great and very few people. Beaches and Cream was a nice spot which we went to many many times. Sundaes are undiscribable.(big big big). We had many meals at the Cape May Cafe where there were only 10 tables full. I think that Goofy spent the whole breakfast at our table one morning.

Highly recommend the BC and a Sept. trip. I will start to plan next years trip to the BC asap.

Great to hear you had a good time. It's always nice to think beyond the grief and sadness that's come over the nation after Tuesday's tragedy, and bring our minds to a place intended to take away sorrows...even if that place closed for a while.

I'm trying to arrange a trip back down to WDW this winter. If it hadn't been for 2 really expensive car accidents last year, I would be able to do a week at the Yacht Club for 2-4 ppl (including airfare)...but since I spent over $5,500 in 2000 trying to avoid making my dad's insurance go up, I'm forced to rob Peter to pay Paul lately, so to speak. So...I'm probably NOT going to be at the DIS convention. I'd really like to be, but with my grandpa being sick and my oppressive school schedule, I'm kind of tied up. However, I'll be online during that time, keeping an eye on what's going on.

Ciao for now,

JC

The key card we recieved stated that once we get to the fifth floor we're to turn it in. I guess it's just one less step to checking in, by-passing the lobby desk.

Hi Joe!
I really love your FAQ! I was wondering if you have any info on the BCV? Do you know what room types they'll have? I'm thinking of buying into the DVC but the Beach Club Villas is the only location I would consider buying into.
Have you stayed at any of the other DVCs? Do you think that the BCV will be just as nice as the others? The location should be wonderful!
I've heard that the BCVs won't have a Grand Villa category so I'm thinking that they should at least make the units a little larger than BWV or VWL?
Also do you think you'll be adding the BCVs to your FAQs or is that a totally different animal?
Thanks for all that you do!

Hi, I'm going to BC standard view next May.....Help!!!!!!......went to all star sports this year, spent alot of $$$$$....not aware of discounts & $$$$savings tips (Disney Club, codes for resort, etc)...Hope to be better informed for next year....appreciate any assistance from well seasoned BC guests...THANKS!!!

Hey.

Hm. The BCV's aren't finished yet, and since we're the only website I know of with the most info available on resorts before they're completed, you're going to want to check back here in a few months. I'm sure the DIS will let y'all know when they accept reservations, and I know there will be more information as Pete (and TPTB) gets them.

The BCV's will have studios (usually a queen bed and a sofabed), one-bedroom villas (king bed and jacuzzi in master bdrm, sofabed and kitchen in living room), and two bedroom villas (one bedroom villa + studio). I don't know for sure if they won't have Grand Villas...this has something to do with the fact that since it's not on the water...why pay $1,000 or more per night for a unit the size of Texas that has a view of...a lawn or driveway? Same principle applies at the Wilderness Lodge Villas.

The only DVC i stayed at before was Vero Beach (3 times, Feb. '97, April '98 and Nov. '99), each time it got exponentially more incredible. The last time, in '99, we had the very center room on the fourth floor of the Inn...2417, I think it was. Amazing view...big room, 2 queen beds, great ocean view. All the DVC accommodations are really top-notch, partially because people do make a long-term commitment and well, they have to keep us going back! I think the Beach Club Villas should be larger than the Wilderness Lodge and Boardwalk Villas, but not Old Key West or Vero. The units will probably be around the same layout as Boardwalk (don't fix what ain't broke), with the same bedding arrangements.

And...when I get BCV info, I'm adding it to the last post on the first page. That's why I put it there.

tresey, check the Discounts section on the first page. You can get mondo discounts with an Annual Pass, and even though it's $350 or so more for the pass, it's still a phenomenal savings on multi-night hotel stays. Plus, your pass is good for a year. Disney Club is good too, but as I showed on the first page, the discounts aren't as great.

The discount codes are listed elsewhere on the DIS. I'm pretty sure I can't post discount codes on this here thread (thank you moderators...), but look on the main Resorts Board. Thanks! Have an awesome trip.

joe,

5179 has a daybed in it - we are in 5181 and peeked in this am.
let me know if you need any pics while we're here.

thanks for the thread!:smooth:

Toldjaso. *GRIN*...

I coulda sworn that thing i slept on was a daybed. I haven't learned to sleep hovering in mid-air yet...

OK, pics would be cool, did you take any!? I'd ad them to this forum as soon as i could.

JC

joe cool,

i have not taken any pics of the room yet- but would if you need some- we moved from 5181 to 4209- they still let us use the concierge even thought we're not on the 5th floor. this room is nice- 2 separated bedrooms with a living room in between.
BEN at the concierge desk is awesome- he has certainly made our trip much more magical than we could have ever imagined!
we are definitely YC conc people forever.

I guess the chair we sat on doubled as the daybed in 5179 the week of Aug 23 through Aug 30. LOL! Unless they moved on in after we left, there was no daybed (but I did ask for one at checkin).

I miss the concierge cookies : (
