s&k's mom:
There is a coffee shop - it is right in the lobby adjacent to the check-in desk. It is called Rip Tides. You can also get the quick breakfast items; bagels, donuts, croissants, cereal & milk, yogurt, etc.. - there may even be Mickey donuts - I can't recall). This location has taken the place of Beaches & Cream which is no longer open for breakfast. You can also take the short walk over to the YC lobby - the lobby bar (sorry I can't remember the name) there also serves quick breakfast items & coffee. Boradwalk Bakery is also an option, as a previous post has offered.

VickiVM:
We have been there on Memorial Day weekend for the last five or so years (our passes expire on Memorial Day - so that provides an excuse to be there). It is crowded - I really can't say it is any more difficult to get a chair at SAB than it is any other time - except maybe Thanksgiving. Crowds at the parks didn't seem to be too bad this year.

Hope this helps.

oh yeah, one more thing about getting a chair at SAB:

It seems that I read somewhere, I think it was in this thread, that a CM had actually told someone that it was perfectly acceptable to move towels off of chairs that had been left unoccupied for sometime - I don't think I would move them if I saw shoes, or beach bags, etc - but I will definitely do it (probably after consulting with a CM) next time I am ready to take in a few rays at SAB & can't find a lounge chair.

Absolutely uncle al! Seems that some people are too lazy to take their towels to the bin when they are finished and just leave them on the loungers. I too check with a CM or a life guard but in most cases it hasn't been a problem.

I have tried a few different times over the past few days on the disney website to get a feel for the pricing (rack rate- we are annual passholders till 10/11 of this year) on the Yacht and Beach clubs- just to see if we're in the ballpark for a last minute foray into the World. I thought end of Sept would be easy b/c traditionally that is probably the least crowded time of year there. Much to my amazement, there are no rooms available in either the yacht or beach club for the last two weeks in Sept nor the first two weeks of October (going right up till 10/11). Could it be possible that the fairy tale packages are to blame for this? Can it be that the parks will be CROWDED during this traditionally tranquil time? Could anyone offer an explanation? I am simply flabbergasted at the lack of availablilty! The Poly and the Cont have rooms available as does the GF. Why not YC/BC????
Thanks for any info!
NancyL:confused:

I would try calling them.
I have found in the past that if I try online, they dont have anything.
Then Ill call and they'll have rooms.
I dont know why this is, maybe they only have so many online.

Thanks for the info guys. We'll probably make a ressie next spring to get either the AP rate or airline. I've always wanted to stay at BC. I just can't wait to see my DS's face when he gets a look at the pool!

Hey, I only have 4 days! Im starting to panic now.
Did I do everything I am suppose to do?
Did I forget something?
What if something goes wrong after we leave?
All those things that will bother me until I get there and can finally relax:cool:

WOW - look at that counter! Don't forget underwear, toothbrush, and money.....thats a good start! Have fun - Steve

See the countdown? hee hee hee.
Once I get that Disney idea in my head...I just cant stop it!
Im going!!!!!!!!
Hopefully some AP rates will come out that I can enjoy.
:)

Does anyone have a preference between the two?

I know the yacht is more nautical and the beach, well... beach!, but other than that is there even any difference between the two?

At the YC all rooms have full balconies where at BC it is hit and miss.

I liked the casual beachy theme of BC ~ YC seems more formal but also beautiful and many people prefer this theme.

I think BC has an edge for better views of crescent lake from the lagoon view rooms.

Other than this I believe they are pretty comparable to one another.

Before I give you my BC over YC answer - I would suggest you just "stroll" back thru this thread. There are lots of little things that you can pick up in way of differences.

For me it's just the "feel". The rooms are basically the same in terms of size & layout, but the theming is different. YC is a little more formal feeling to me. Not that it's bad to be formal & sometimes I want that. BC, it seems to me has more families staying there (it probably doesn't have any more or less - it just feels that way). I enjoy all of the activity in the lobby - there always seems to be a crowd of excited people on their way somewhere. YC is a little more refined - almost has that feel of being at your grandmother's house - and your mom has given you instructions no loud voices & don't run in the house. Now you know there are no such rules at YC but that's kind of how I feel in the lobby. So beautiful I'm afraid I might break something.

Don't know if this helps or not - bottom line - you will not be disappointed either place. Enjoy!

Liked the YC better for 2 reasons:
1. More elegant look,a little neater than the BC. Maybe this is what many refer to as more formal.

2. After a busy day at the parks it was so nice to come home to the peaceful Yacht Club. Very soothing.

That said,both are beautiful!

Am sort of thinking about renting a car this trip which leads to ??

What is the parking situation at YC?
Close to main entrance?
Free?
Valet charges?
Are parking/valet costs waived for concierge guests?

Thanks for any info...
Sharon

The parking can be quite a distance from the hotel - it depends, obviously on when you get there and how many people are staying at the resort. The parking lot is rather large - I have gone back to the car because we forgot something a couple of times (that I can recall) once it was a very short walk and the other time it seemed as if I would never get there. I think if you don't valet the parking is free (can't say for sure we always use valet).

We always use valet - it is $6 per night and if you use the car to go to another resort (say to have dinner) the valet service is good for that resort as well - they place a card in your window that says "YC - Valet". I'm sorry - I can't help with charges being waived for conceirge.

General parking is free. At least it was in '98 the last time I was there. The walk, while a bit of a distance, is a nice one because you go up over the bridge that spans the canal.

I didn't mind the walk at all. I would never go to Disney w/o renting a car!!
