That means you can smoke on all the floors, except the 3rd floor. I think WDW Resorts have this totally backwards but that's just my opinion. One floor for smoking should be more than enough. I work for a lung specialists and if you saw how many people in their 40's and 50's have major lung problems and some already dying from lung cancer, you would agree. Most of them say the same thing " I wish I never started smoking as a teen, if I only knew than what I know now". So sad, so many fell prey to the Marlboro Man commericals. Don't get me started......

Don't want to get anyone started on this. I don't want to start a debate about this by any means. I've heard the debate has gotten quite heated on these boards previously.
I just wanted to know so I can request a room accordingly.
Asked and answered, thanks for your help.

awatt,

No negative debate will be started, not by me. I just had to add my two cents :D My personal thoughts on the concept that if you put a non-smoking floor (3rd) between four smoking floors (1,2,4, and 5) , it just really doesn't work anyway! People, including myself who requests the non-smoking floor, are not getting any such thing. I will end all and any other thoughts on this subject here and now, I promise ;)

Can anybody tell me...were the standard rooms (water view) refurbished also? All the pics I keep seeing state that the room they were in was concierge.... anyone know?

Are there newer updated floorplans available other than the ones I linked to on the first page? The ones I have are by Maryann Floridian, and it mentions that the will be updated.

I tried searching through several pages, but no luck! Anyone know??:teeth:

I would like the answer to that question also. I am in the semi-final planning stages of our trip and have started thinking about room requests.:smooth:

From the floor plans I see there are standard view rooms near the lobby overlooking wedding gazebo area. Are these rooms noisier since they are near the lobby?

In reading the mentions of the 3rd floor being the only non-smoking my motherly alarms went wildly flashing! We have never had a Disney trip without an asthma attack from my dear son (7)- I thought if I targeted the newly renovated or newer resorts- we'd be better off. We stayed at AKL it's first year but still got a room that had been smoked in- they transferred us but not before the damage had been done. My son is highly reactive to smoke- and if you're smoking on all other floors doesn't the smoke get regenerated through the ventilation systems? Has anyone been on the third floor and can offer their experiences? Or have any other recommendations where this may not be as big an issue? Granted, we're bringing our own nebulizer this trip but an attack leaves ds weak and exhausted. Thanks!!

Awatt,

I had a room on the second floor overlooking the wedding gazebo and it wasn't noisy at all. It was up the stairs and down the hall from the lobby, so we didn't hear any of that. It is a great location for a room, it was very easy to get to, and we got to see 2 weddings from our room. It was wonderful.

I have gotten alot of info on it. Is it all up to date?
Just thought Id ask. We will be staying at the YC in July(16th).
Cant wait:p
Is anybody else going in July?
Has anybody been there within the last month. Just wondering how your stay was, and how were the crowds in the parks and around SAB?::smooth: :p

I was also wondering if anyone stayed in a ST room and was able to see the fireworks from there balcony? I read somewhere there were some that you could.

DalPal, my family will be checking into the YC on July 20th........how long will you be there? I have gotten a lot of information off this thread too and we are very excited about the YC. We have stayed 2 times before at the BC and really enjoyed it but just thought we would try the YC this time. I am not sure about the room thing (seeing fireworks from balcony) but maybe someone else who has stayed at the YC will know. I'm sure it depends on which room you get! We have 3 teens traveling with us and have ressies for two rooms, so I am anxiously awaiting some sort of code or AP rate to help with the cost!

Hi,
Its good to see someone else going about the same time. I am waiting for codes too. It is driving me nuts!
It is going to be just my husband and myself.
We will be there till the 21st. It is our first time in a deluxe. We are kind of splurging a little for our 30th Ann. on the 19th and an early birthday present to me( July 25th).:p

How are the crowds at SAB? Have you been in July before?

Another July visitor here, although the July 4th week! I'm waiting for codes/AP rates too, since my stay is over a rate change from regular to value.

You will love the YC! It is our favorite resort, and it feels like our second home.

Cool:)

Have you been in July before? I have only been in May. I was wondering if the pool is really crowded that time of year? I figured we would take time out of the heat at midday and hang at the pool for an hour or two. I bet everybody is going to have the same idea and it will be crowded:(

Dalpal,

We go to Disney in July every year around the July 4th week. That is a busy week, but the crowds will be less when you are there.

SAB is great, but yes it does get crowded at times. And in July, you can expect the late afternoon thunderstorm to stop by too. We always take a mid day break at the pool, but we always plan to get there by 12:30-1pm. It gets more crowded the further past 1pm with everyone having the same idea of taking a break. ( The quiet pool is another option if SAB is busy.) Resort ID is checked and you must wear a wristband to enter the SAB area. This is to keep 'other resort' guests out. They expanded the pool area for lounge chairs last summer, I guess to make room for more guests from the BCV, and I don't remember having a problem getting a spot. There are sooo many areas to sit by; the sandy beach area, lazy river area, active pool area, etc.

Make sure to tell the resort ahead of time that you will be celebrating your 30th Anniversary there. (Congrats!) Either call CRO and have it put on your reservation, or call the main desk at the YC itself and let them know. Maybe something special will happen!

Does anyone know if there is a good view from BC in rooms over the Cape May Cafe? We have booked a water view and would like to have a room with a full balcony and a view of the Lagoon, Boardwalk and SOB, where the ship slide is located. Looks like a room on 3rd or 4th over Cape May Cafe would work, but is the lagoon view there blocked by any trees? I just can't find any photo's online that show that specific area. View is very important since we will be spending alot of time at the hotel.

We're going to YC:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Really spoiling myself, daughter and my mother this year with Concierge. Can anyone tell me if the concierge room are fairly convient to main lobby elevators? My mother (age 70) goes pretty slow and likes to limit the walking where she can so we want something convient to catching boats or busses. Are they pretty much above and over the lobby or could they be at the far end of the hotel?

Thanks much! Sharon
