We stayed at the BC last summer in a standard view room. I had requested a balcony when I made the ressie thru Diz. I think I made the mistake of not requesting a "full balcony" because what we got was the small standing balcony overlooking the parking lot. It was steamy hot and we were so tired until we got in at night that I don't think we would have used a full one anyway. But that is one of the things I cherish in a hotel, a nice balcony to sit and relax on.

The one good thing about that particular balcony? When I looked out directly to my right there was the Epcot globe gleaming. Such a beautiful site at night!

As far as outside noise...we heard nothing from the parking lot area. We heard more from the corridor outside of our room than anything else.

Staying at the beach club this upcoming may 5th. I also have a standard view room and i am concerned as well esp since last visit i had a waterview with a huge balcony at the boardwalk inn. but my boyfriend didnt want to spend the extra 700 dollars for the week just for the view and i guess he is right i did love the balcony but we hardly used it...anyway three quick questions

1. if you have a standard view at the beach club does that necessarily mean you will have a smaller balcony
2. if you are on the bottom floor by any of the pools how is the noise factor???? is it annoying to be in this area or am i better off requesting a higher floor.
3. i heard there are double bed rooms in the beach club...i def DO NOT want one of these rooms and i feel for the price we are paying per night i shouldnt have to deal with double beds...any experience with this can you refuse a room if they give you one with double beds??????

thanks

Hi,

Hope I can answer some of your questions.

Q1 if you have a standard view at the beach club does that necessarily mean you will have a smaller balcony
A1 Full balcony and standing room only balcony are based on the floor you are on and not on the view that you have booked.

Q2 if you are on the bottom floor by any of the pools how is the noise factor???? is it annoying to be in this area or am i better off requesting a higher floor.
A2 This can get annoying near the quiet pool area since there can be teenagers swimming, playing tag, etc until midnight. I haven't nothing against teenagers, they just have alot of energy to burn.

Q3 i heard there are double bed rooms in the beach club...i def DO NOT want one of these rooms and i feel for the price we are paying per night i shouldnt have to deal with double beds...any experience with this can you refuse a room if they give you one with double beds??????
A3 There are all types of bed combinations at BC including King, Murphy, Queen, and Double. I have politely asked while checking in if the room had a full balcony (this was my top priority and you could do the same for the type of bed). If the assigned room couldn't meet your wish, ask if they have an another option with the type of bed you would like. Basically your requests are like a wish list. You may get one, all or none based on availability for the type of booking made.

Is there a spa at the BC? IF so anyone know prices and how far in advance reservations are needed.

Anyone use any of the services?

We will be at the Beach Club Villas in June and read somewhere about a refillable mug/cup for Hurricane Hannah's but didn't get any specifics. I think you buy the cup with an alcoholic beverage and may be able to refill it at a cost. Does this sound correct? Does anyone know what kind of beverages can be used to refill it (beer, frozen drinks, mixed drinks, etc.)? Thanks for any insight you can provide!:drinking1

If you're staying YC concierge, do you e-mail your requests and ADR's directly to the concierge staff? In the days past, I always received a letter from them asking about my requests, and maybe that's still done. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I've been reading the first few pages of this thread, and now the last few. I have a couple questions:

What are the main differences between the YC and BC besides the theming?

How much longer does it take from the YC than the BC to walk to the Int'l Gateway? Just a few minutes? DH and I walked around the BC a bit last trip, and was AMAZED at how close some of the rooms are to the UK pavilion of Epcot! Wonderful!:cloud9:

Which resorts do the YC BC share a bus with? I seem to remember one time taking the bus from DTD to the BC for an ADR and it took *forever* as it stopped at the Boardwalk, Swan, Dolphin, YC and finally the BC. Is it still like that?

I did read that the YC has better balconies than the BC- anything else one has over the other?

I'm going to attempt to get a Shades of Green overflow rate for either the YC or BC next June. Looks like my DH is going to be called up, AGAIN, and I want to treat our kids to something REALLY special at WDW- they will just die at Storm-Along Bay, if I can swing this trip!

Thanks for any info!

:flower3:

We stayed at the YC and loved it! I guess an advantage to the YC would be the busses stop there before the BC. That and, of course, the full balconies. We had a patio near the wedding gazebo and could watch Illuminations from it. I don't remember how long it took to get to Epcot. I just remember that it really was no big deal. We enjoyed the walk each and every time, even when we were tired.

I have been trying to scan this thread to see if this has been answered yet, but only see it in reference to BC. We are staying at YC CL 7/23 - 8/3. We have requested a non-smoking room, as my son has severe asthma. Can anyone tell me which CL rooms are smoking vs. non? I am concerned about getting a non-smioking room that might be right next to a smoking room and him being affected by that.

Thanks!

how does transport to MK and AK work? i know about the boats/walkways to Epcot and MGM... but we'll be visiting MK a few times and wondering if it's a piece of cake or a pita!

You can walk thru EPCOT and grab the monorail to the MK or hop on the bus. You can take a boat, a bus or hike it to MGM. ( The boat captain said it was something like 1 1/4 miles from the Boardwalk?!) I think when going to AK your only choice is a bus. I'm not sure since we never went there. If you do the EPCOT route, I would allow at least 30 to 45 minutes to make the journey. It's not a bad walk thru WS and FW but waiting for the monorail, switching monorails or getting the ferry over to MK can take you a few!

We found the location of BC very convenient, though. I'd definitely stay there again! I would almost choose it over a monorail resort because you can get to so many other attractions soooo quickly!

we may not have park hoppers, so going thru Epcot likely won't work... and even if we do, epcot may not be open when we're wanting to get to MK (for a.m. EMH or after Pirates/Princess)... is there a bus to MK? does it stop at a zillion resorts enroute? how 'bout to AK?

Gigi1313, I see you are a proud member of the MLP....I know about LOTW but what does yours stand for??

I don't know what your plans are, but if you can swing having park hoppers I would definitely do that! I spent weeks planning our vacation but things still didn't go as planned and it was so nice to just say "forget this park, let's head over to ________ ." We spent almost everyday in at least 2 different parks. You may not be interested in this but we loved it!

You have to let the CM/Travel Agent know of your son's medical condition and it will state on your reservation forms "No-smoking guaranteed" and will be noted in their computer system that it's for a medical necessity. (Even if you didn't already do it when you reserved, call back now and just tell them you forgot to mention your DS's condition) Both of my girls have mild asthma but it flares up around smoke so I always request it. We've never had a problem (yet) :) :) Good luck and enjoy your trip! :)

It was mentioned above that you can take a bus to MGM from the Y&B Club. You cannot. The only way to MGM is by boat or foot.

Keep in mind that if you take the bus directly from the Y&B Club to Magic Kingdom, you will be left off at the entrance of Magic Kingdom - very quick and easy. However, if you decide to go via monorail, you must walk all the way through Epcot then wait for the monorail at Epcot. This monorail only takes you to the Ticket & Transportation Center. Then you must get off that monorail and either take the large ferry boat or the express or resort monorail to the Magic Kingdom. And you have to realize that you could wait 10-15 minutes for the first monorail and another 10-15 minutes for the second monorail or ferry plus add on the 20-30 minute walk time from the Y&B to the front of Epcot. Taking the direct bus is definitely quicker and definitely easier on your feet even if you end up waiting 20 minutes for the bus at the bus stop at the Y&B!

we've stayed at BCV twice and both times the bus to MK stopped only at YC and BC. We found it very quick and convenient. The bus to AK went directly to AK in the morning (as BB wasn't open yet) but when we took the bus back to BC, it stopped at BB and then YC and then BC. But it didn't seem like any inconvenience.

One of the main differences I noticed between YC and BC is that the YC lobby is much quieter than the BC. The reasons are 1) Cape May off the BC lobby has character meals so there will often be people with children waiting to be seated 2) There is a gift shop in each YC and BC. However, only the BC has the refillable mug station, gelato counter, and sandwich/salad shop.

There is much more activity on the BC side.

I want to call out this difference in case it's important to you. It doesn't stop us from staying at BC, but sometimes I walk over to the YC gift shop for browsing just to have a quiet shopping experience.

My husband and I do like the room decor and balconies over at the YC side better, but it hasn't made us book a room over there yet.

One day, we'd like to stay at the YC with a room that overlooks SAB and the BW.

We had a room, CL, just like that Thanksgiving week and it was wonderful!!!

Thanks! Since I have 3 kids of my own (who will be 3, 7 and 10), I won't mind the noise factor, since I am sure my own will be contributing to it! ;)

I've made out a financial 'plan' of how to get us there next June- I think it will work! I can't wait to stay there- we've eaten at several of the YCBC/Boardwalk restaurants, and I just love the atmosphere.
