I have a couple of questions about the BC, right now I am going in June with a friend and our 3 kids.

I definately need a balcony because I am a smoker. What are the chances of getting one? Yes, I know they are not guaranteed, but just looking at the overall chance.

Also, is the only way to Epcot to walk? No other transportation? And to MGM, just the boat?

I have never stayed at the Beach Club before, but it looks just great for us. I am just a little worried about the above concerns. Thanks for your help.

no idea about getting a balcony, but please make sure to get a smoking room. its really hard on us non-smokers when we are in non smoking rooms, using our balcony, when a neighbor lights up. or maybe you can just go for walk? lots of beautiful areas to stroll to.

epcot has a boat, too, but the walk is sooo easy. mgm has a boat and a walking path (longer than epcot).

I have a question for all the Beach Club experts. My DH and I will be staying at the BC CL in June.

It is my 50th birthday so DH has gone all out and booked us a 1 Bedroom Suite with the Premium Plan.

I haven't been able to find any pictures of these exact suites so do you think they are worth the extra money? Some nice people have sent me some pictures of BCV one bedroom suites but I assume they are not the same.:confused3

Also we arrive late at night around 10:30 PM will there be any place to eat open?

Thanks,
Lyn

thanks all for the info here on the yacht club thread... we're planning a late aug/early sept trip (again) and when dh heard i was considering a monorail resort he put his foot down... he said value all the way or yacht club all the way, no in between (i.e. por or poly)... so i had to say yes ;)

now, tell me what i'll love about the YC... is there a place to get coffee in the morning? what time does the pool open in the am? and is the laundry room near the pool? (my early riser ds and i have a thing... we do some laundry, take a dip, do more laundry, take another dip, finish the laundry and bring breakfast back for dh/dd)

we'll be there for about 7 nights... thinking of trying to not go commando this time and really enjoy the resort... we'll get park hoppers so we can have dinner at epcot a few nights... definitely want to enjoy the pool... any specific room/wing/area we should request (to be near SAB, marina, bus stops)? is concierge really worth it? do they sell refillable mugs at the YC and where would you refill them? is there an arcade?

share any info you think i might need to help me want to stay here and also to be aware of any "warts"

please and thank you :)

We Loved the YC...Stayed 7 nights from 3/7-3/14... We had an awesome water view room (#3009). It was on the farthest corner of the building but worth the very, very long walk. We had two large windows that looked out to Stormalong Bay and Epcot and our balcony faced the Boardwalk...We didnt find out until a few days into our vacation that not only can you refill the mugs at Hurricane Hannnah's (at the pool), the marketplace at the BC, and Beaches and Cream but you can get coffee from 6-11 am in the lobby of the Yacht Club...
THere is laundry near the quiet pool but as far as I know not near Stormalong bay. Also, I believe it changes seasonally but when we were there the big pools hours were 10-8.
THere is an arcade next to Beaches and Cream.
CL is different for everyone. I felt I didnt take full advantage of it in the past. They have great snacks out all day and drinks at night. If you are a drinker you might save some money. ALthough the times you are looking at going is rumored to be free dining in which case I wouldnt do CL....
Just my two cents worth but I cant wait to stay there again!!!!

thanks for your input tete07830... it's very appreciated...

when you say long, long walk, how long was long? and is it all indoors ('cause that makes a difference... we stayed at ASMu last trip and had a room furthest away from the main bldg and it was unpleasant)... also, we'd likely do both the dining plan and CL simply 'cause it's probably the only trip i'm going to be staying at the YC and if dh is willing to go "all out" far be it from me to stop him ;)

When I stay CL at YC I like the rooms facing the Lake directly over the back entrance. You can see the lake, the Boardwalk, the lighthouse and the "people" coming in and out of the resort. It's very entertaining. I like watching the boats from there too. It's also just a short walk down the hall from the lounge but far enough away that there's no noise. Very convenient to the elevators also since they are directly across from the lounge. The arcade at YC is pretty big but even though I always thought my kids would be interested in it they weren't; just too many other things to do. One of the things I like best about the YC/BC resort is that things are under one roof. While the Poly is a beautiful resort, I don't like having to walk outside to get to the gift shop, restaurants, lobby, etc. The laundry is located right behind the quiet pool at YC and is a beautiful and quiet area in itself.
Be careful, once I stayed here, I can't seem to make myself not come back so when I want to try another resort I ususally do a split stay. I'm going back again April 11 and I will be staying at BC. The only reason I'm not staying at YC is because this was a last minute trip and there was nothing available at the YC during the time that I wanted to stay.

Hello
When I mean long, my husband and I timed it and it was a little over 4 minutes at a steady pace. All indoors though. I cant remember if your kids are stroller age but there was a staircase right outside our door that we used when going to the pool. That wasnt that bad.

A woman after my own heart-going "all out"...I tend to do that,too... Let me know if you have any other questions....

gigi1313,

We did the same thing dining plan with CL. It was wonderful. A total splurge. We wanted for nothing, except maybe a workout and some Maalox!:rotfl2:

Have a great time. It's a fantastic resort!

The Beach Club is offically our chosen resort for our Second Trip to Disney World this December. Which will also be our Honeymoon.

Took us forever to actually pick a place. Our first visit was to the AKL.

We are going on a Disney Cruise followed by a WDW Trip and we thought this would be a fitting resort following a Cruise.

Plus I gotta see that Pool!

WE are strongly leaning towards either BC or YC for our trip... ny advice would be great... I am trying to read these posts on this thread..

It's really hard to read through all of these posts. If you have any questions, please ask. There are a lot of people, including myself, who are more than happy to answer any questions for you!

We stayed in the YC back in 2003. We chose YC over BC mainly because of the balcony issue. In the end, we had neither. We were on the ground floor and had a patio - which we absolutely loved!

okay, all you YC dwellers are making me absolutely GIDDY over the thought of staying there... esp concierge level... i'm thinking i might surprise hubby w/that part of it! (teehee!)

we're bringing my mom and my 25yo niece (whom we absolutely adore) and will be getting two rooms... would it be a major hassle to only do one room concierge level and be on different floors? (the thinking behind this is that dh/kids/i are early risers and big eaters... mom and niece are late sleepers and eat like birds... so CL would be wasted on them... they don't drink either... and while we're not lushes [LOL], dh and i would enjoy a drink or two in the evening)

Mom has only been to WDW twice, both times offsite, both times 15+ years ago... she recently lost my dad after 61 years married and had a rough year... we're thinking this will be her feel-good trip... so, any great ideas for things to do at/around the Y/BC w/mom would be welcomed... we're considering something spa-y... and maybe a hairdresser app't at the salon (which she enjoys at home)... for the kids (10yo and 12yo) we're going to try and book a fishing trip from the YC dock...

anything that we should ask for when reserving rooms?

oh, and do the rooms have fridges? (and are they the same size as the ones in the mods?)

thanks for all the great help... i'm sure i'll have more questions before august gets here :)

We will also be doing DCL and then 2nts @ BC in early Dec. Wondered what pool temps will be like at that time of year? Done WDW in Dec before but didn't really do pools. But can't stay at BC and not do SAB :) The only discount I have found is AAA. Should I be able to get a better discount? I know it is very early in the year for discounts in Dec. I don't know what everyone is talking about the 40%.??? When was that discount out there? Any suggestions on how to get the best rate at BC?

Pool temps will be GREAT!!!!

We are counting down to our BC trip on 4/15. Wondering what the breakfast options are these days for something light. Any ideas?
