Anyone know how late SAB typically stays open during late October?

I don't know this for sure, but I think it is 8pm Sun-Thurs, and 10pm on Fri and Sat. However, sometimes I have seen SAB's hours change based on crowds, and with F&W fest becoming SOOO big, I wouldn't be surprised if they stayed open later sometimes. The "hours extension" thing happened to us last winter when we just didn't get kicked out at SAB closing time. We checked the hours of the pool when we checked in, but the resort had decided to extend the hours due to crowds in the parks.

We weren't complaining.

We leave at 6:00 am for our trip to BC!!!! Going to bed right after American Idol. Hope to see some of you there!

We're going to be at the BC for the second part of our stay in May. We will be checking in early because we have a Cape May breakfast ADR at 10AM.

If we decide to go to the pool while waiting for our room is there somewhere to change close by? I keep thinking we're going to look like pool hoppers and we'll get evil eye.........they give you a wristband or something to get into the pool right?

Also, we booked a standard room, only thing besides CL available (maybe next time) anyway, will standard room be a dissappointment? Are standard views of the parking lot?

We just got back last night from our trip to BC where we were lucky enough to be upgraded to concierge level. Our room overlooked the porte cochere and we could see only a small bit of the parking lot. I know somebody correct me if I am mistaken, but I think the parking is pretty far off in the distance past the canal and there are lots of trees, so it isn't like you are looking at a big expanse of cars and asphalt. I suppose the rooms to the left of us could have more of a parking lot view but I bet you'll be pleased with wherever you end up!!

Also, we could see the top edge of Spaceship Earth and part of the EPCOT sign when we stepped outside! If we craned our necks really hard and leaned over the balcony, we could see the high fireworks from Illuminations. (I wouldn't recommend this though, especially after a few cocktails!)

As for looking like the dreaded pool hopper...don't sweat it! They will check your room key upon entering and give you a wrist band. A word of warning, though--it is hard to get a lounge chair due to the number of people who ignore the signs and lay beach towels across 6 chairs at a time so they will have one when they finally decide to mosey on down to the pool after having a leisurely breakfast or morning at the parks or whatever. We were there at 9:30 one morning and almost every front row seat was taken. There were 5 people in the pool, I counted!! There were maybe 10 adults actually sitting in the chairs and the rest of them had a newspaper or a magazine or just a folded towel over the back. Can you tell that is one of my major pet peeves?!?! Oh well, I didn't let it ruin my trip... too many good things to be had at Disney! Hope you enjoy your trip!

When we went last October, we had a standard view room with a beautiful full balcony that looked toward the parking lot. The parking lot is very far away and our view was of a nice grassy area and the BC Villas in the background. The room was just gorgeous! If I were you, I would request a room with a full balcony. Many of the rooms only had a very small balcony - just enough room to stand there.

Not sure but when we were there in early October 2006, it closed at 8pm every night....

when they close SAB at 8pm, is the quiet pool still open? we love to go for a swim at night when we get back from the parks and will be really disappointed if there's nowhere to take a dip...

I did put in Non-smoking and full balcony, so hopefully we'll get that. I very excited and know we'll love it, you just hope for the best.

I believe the quiet pool is open 24 hours.

When we were there last October, SAB closed at 8 p.m., but the quiet pool was open until 11 p.m. or midnight.

It was kind of a bummer, since we were out in the parks until past 8 every day, so we actually never got to use SAB at all. We did love the proximity to Epcot, though, and the resort was great!

OK--I got (more) reservations yesterday and I'm not sure that I am happy about it. I really wanted AKL savannah view/bunkbeds, but.... Well, it just didn't happen so I took a standard view at the BC. The problem? I don't think I'll be happy without a balcony. I just don't know if I should keep this ressie if I won't be happy. I do have another ressie for AKL savannah view (no bunks) thru the TA, so it's not like we won't be going if I don't stick with BC. The problem w/AKL is that the construction will still be going on and I am afraid of being right below those rooms or that the animals will be scared away from view. Now it's just a matter of which ressie we'll use! (We have to go now--I bought the airline tix already:woohoo: . )

I am looking for some reassurance. If we have 4 in our group--me, DH, DD13, DS10 what are the chances I'll get the requested 2 queens/daybed room? What about a balcony or patio? It is causing me stress! I don't want to be disappointed every time I walk into the room. Anyone stayed std room at BC? What was your experience? I can handle a parking lot view if I must but I don't think I can handle not having a balcony! We can deal if the kids have to sleep in the same bed. We'll put a pillow between them or something. (There's no way I am sleeping with either of them--they move too much and it's bad enough being in the same room!)

TIA for all your help and advice!!

Denise

You could request "full balcony or patio". I have not stayed at the Beach Club yet - I also need a full balcony!! The Yacht club has all full balconies and still is close to Epcot and has SAB - that is what I am considering for the next trip.

We stayed in a water view room with a patio at the YC and absolutely loved it!

I thought that the construction at AKL was taking place away from the main lodge. Am I mistaken??

Does anyone know if BCV has replaced ALL their mattresses and sofa beds? I know this was in the process, but have not heard if all beds are new.

There is scheduled construction on the new villas building, but first they are remodeling the 5th and 6th floors, converting to villas, if I understand correctly. The word on that board and from CM's when booking is that there will be noise from 9-5. I guess some rooms hear it, some don't. I really want that savannah view but not if I have to listen to pounding when I am there in the afternoons (which, admittedly, is not a great deal of time). At this time I am leaning toward AKL as that balcony is guaranteed and I think that is my priority--we are thinking of having a relaxing glass of wine out there before bed. If we could've gotten YC then I wouldn't worry so much as my chances for a balcony would be much greater (I think).
I change my mind daily--even hourly! :rolleyes1

Staying at the beach club this upcoming may 5th. I also have a standard view room and i am concerned as well esp since last visit i had a waterview with a huge balcony at the boardwalk inn. but my boyfriend didnt want to spend the extra 700 dollars for the week just for the view and i guess he is right i did love the balcony but we hardly used it...anyway three quick questions

1. if you have a standard view at the beach club does that necessarily mean you will have a smaller balcony
2. if you are on the bottom floor by any of the pools how is the noise factor???? is it annoying to be in this area or am i better off requesting a higher floor.
3. i heard there are double bed rooms in the beach club...i def DO NOT want one of these rooms and i feel for the price we are paying per night i shouldnt have to deal with double beds...any experience with this can you refuse a room if they give you one with double beds??????

thanks
22 days and counting!!!!
