I actually really enjoy cooking the meal. I just wasn't up to it that year. I swore that this year was going to be a simple meal but I found this amazing recipe I want to try. For my bacon loving friends!!

Oooh, that does look good! I always do my same sweet potato puff but just tried a new recipe for it too, this year with a cookie crumb topping. But yours looks really good too -- love that it has apples and bacon.... hmmm, what to make, what to make...

Can we skip over Thanksgiving and go straight to Christmas? I'm not excited for Thanksgiving at all this year. I don't want to cook. I don't want to be around Chris' Aunt and Grandmother. I don't want to have to worry about any of that. We have enough going on as it is. I'm so Bah Humbug about Thanksgiving this year. Last year I was so excited for it because I was going to be full term on Thanksgiving. Maybe that's my problem. Maybe I'm sad because I'm not pregnant and I don't have the excitement of giving birth to look forward to. I'm trying to keep myself busy with planning Alex's BDay party and Christmas but apparently it's not working.

Carla, Thanksgiving is so much work and it is thankless for the person doing the cooking. Every year I make a huge meal, with new dishes and such. I get up at 4am to make sure that we eat by noon. Every Thanksgiving I am ready to go to bed before it is dark out because I have worked by rear end off and I never really enjoy the meal.

I have over the years learned ways to make it easier to cook the meal. One is to cut my veggies up on Monday and putting them is ziplocs. When it is time to prepare my stuffing it makes it soooo much easier. This year we have decided that it is going to be a simpler meal than in the past. I am making the turkey, stuffing, potatoes, gravy, cranberries, and a veggie. That will cut my work time way down. For this I am grateful.

What ticked me off the most was the "oh let me help" and then them not even coming near the kitchen. Gee thanks for all the help.

Or my all time favorite, sit and watch me from across the room and pretending not to hear when I ask for help. And in second place standing in the kitchen talking to me and watching me struggle to do things.

Oh that is awful for both of you!! Thanksgiving is one of my absolute favorite holidays Especially this year as every moment is another thing to be thankful for for me!! Reading these post make me even more thankful for my wonderful family!!!

Oh I didn't mean to come off as if you weren't thankful!!! I think it's awful no one helped but expected to come to your house and eat!! Reading that made me realize how blessed I am with my family. Like I said since I went in the hospital I haven't had to worry about cooking or anything over the last 6 months!! It made me so much more thankful for my family reading ya'lls post. I love to cook and I miss it but I haven't had the strength and I haven't had to worry about it. Everyone just pitches in and spoils me rotten taking care of me!!!

Just saw that Piers Morgan is stepping down from America's Got Talent and they are in negotiations to replace him with .....

Yikes -- he is just not my first, second or 1,397th choice!

I have actually listened to his show ... I admit I laughed at a few things but overall it just always left me wanting to take a shower to get clean again.

I can see how NBC is doing this for the ratings to draw in a different audience (male, young) but I think they may alienate many, too. AGT is already like the #1 show in the summer ...

We're off today for Veteran's Day. My children are PLAYING together! All THREE of them, including the girl about to turn 15. They are making quite the racket! I have no idea what they are doing, nor do I care. I am just thrilled they are doing it, happily, together!

The few times I've heard Howard Stern I felt like I needed a bath in bleach!!


Today my Dad came home from Wally World with a bag for me. In it was a pair of Mickey footed pajamas!! Now I never would have wanted them before bt if you could see how I bundle up now from being so cold they'll be just the thing. My parents are not big Disney fans!! Shocking I know but when he saw Mickey with Relax, Dream, Imagine, and Sing written on it He thought of me so he bought them!!! I thought that was very sweet! He knows Mickey makes me think of Shannon! Today was a much better day for me. I don't post much about it. In fact probably only Chele, My other friend Michelle and my family know but I've been pretty much bed bound in some serious pain. I have been getting up every day and trying to exersize as that helps to combat fatigue and pain as well as I'm losing my muscle tone so I'm trying not to lose more!!!!

I've been using a walking DVD and today I was able to go 2 miles!! I've only had to take half the amount of my pain pills the last several days and today only half a pill so far!!! So Today is a good day. I go back Mon to see if my counts are up enough to do chemo. The Dr has taken some of the chemo off as it makes my counts too low to do anything. Hope all is well with everyone. yesterday was the first year I did nothing for veterans day for my Dad. but today I'm trying to rest enough to go to their community Thanksgiving Dinner. They live in a gated community that tries to do things on holidays. The clubhouse overlooks the water so it's usually pretty neat. I hope I can go as I'm craving Dressing and greenbean casserole!!!
