JULY 3rd - Partners and Partnerships
Question of the Day - Partnerships
The Partnership Statue shows us how Mickey Mouse and Walt would be nothing without the other.
The quote below the statue shows us how we can use our connections for fun, love, and support.
Who would stand next to you in your personal partnership statue today?
Who is your support system in this lifestyle change?
What activities (besides Disney) do you, your parents, and/or your children enjoy doing together?
Bonus: Share any photos you have of you standing with one of the partnership statues at Disney properties!
The majority of my weight loss happened when DH just wasn't on board. He struggles with his own weight issues and while I was losing he was gaining (and gaining). I have my Mom for phone support, but I don't see her often enough. DD is great support as well (and often the BEST voice of reason when things don't seem to be going my way with the scale) but I don't see her often either. And when I re-started this journey, even though I was following WW, I wasn't attending meetings.... so honestly, the WISH groups that I've been a part of for 8 years now have TRULY been one of my biggest support systems! People come and go and there are VERY FEW of the "originals" still left...... and once or twice the groups got VERY small and I feared they would end... but they haven't! LOVE always having someone to "chat" with or complain to here!
I've learned that I need to be my OWN support system.... because in the long run, that is the person who you need to count on the most. And I've learned to be VOCAL about my needs (to some degree). I cannot expect people to read my mind.
DD and I enjoy doing EVERYTHING together.... obviously Disney, but travel of any sort, road trips, new restaurants, Disney movies, etc. DS and I enjoy time together as well, but it is much harder to find things that we BOTH enjoy.... but I always try!
Since my kids were young, I've taken them both away every year on a Mother/Child trip.... DD and I have no trouble finding things to do and fitting it into the schedule, but sadly it hasn't been as much of a priority for DS (for him, not me) and it is much harder to find something to do that we would both love....but I keep trying!!
My mum is a big supporter of me - when I lived closer and was studying and in my first couple of years of working full time and juggling the kids - she would sneak over to the house in the day when I was out and do the laundry and tidy up to help me out. Her and my Dad always help by watching the kids and getting them to/from school when they were younger and I was working further from home. I would also have to have my kids in the statue though as you said Courtney Walt or Mickey wouldn't be the same without the other and I just wouldn't be the me I am without my kids.
All the lovely people on here are a bit part of my support system and a couple of friends who I exercise with each week.
Mum, the kids and I wander the shops together usually once a week, in the summer the kids and I like to hit the beach or the river to play in the water, walks on the beach that include a game of soccer, backyard soccer or cricket, the younger 2 like to ride bikes (I need a new one). A more sedentary thing we all like to do is go to the movies.
I have 2 one each in DL and DCA

LOVE your pictures!! Your children are beautiful!!
Good afternoon. I am checking in after taking the dog for a walk this afternoon. I did something to my knee yesterday and it is a little achy.
The shower yesterday was lovely. My sister had to feel proud. It was a tea and it said on the invitation that hats were optional. Most of my side of the party had a hat. I have to say that a lot of it was because of me. I helped my sister and my mother to decorate their hats and then I provided hats to my future daughters in law, a niece and a friend of my sister besides the one I was wearing.
Here I am with my husband and our friends from our trip in Oct. I am the one on the right. I don't look too bad considering I was out with somesort of stomach thing for the 24 hours before this picture was taken.

July 5th - Onwards to Adventureland
Question of the Day - July 5th
Disneyland is famous for its Dole Whip snack, which can be purchased outside the Tiki Room.
It's a pineapple-flavored soft serve and great to munch on while enjoying the show on a hot day.
What are some healthy snacks you enjoy eating?
Have you changed your eating habits recently because of the lifestyle change you're making?
Bonus: Have you tried the Dole Whip? What did you think?
Well, obviously my "lifestyle change" happened primarily years ago..... but that doesn't mean that it doesn't continue to evolve. Healthy snacks I enjoy include TONS of fruits and veggies, nuts (in tiny portions), hummus with veggies, and if I want a sweet treat other than fruit, usually that means a frozen Yasso bar.... coconut is my favorite.
So hurtful.
Awwww.... don't take it too personally! We LOVE having you here!
July 6th - Woohoo Wednesday!
It's time to celebrate... it's woohoo Wednesday!
In keeping with tradition, we will pause our Disneyland Tour on Wednesdays to take time to celebrate YOU.
We've made it to the middle of the week and now we brag about the good things that have happened!
No accomplishment is too big or too small and can be about anything you like.
July 6th - Question of the Day
What are you celebrating today?
What amazing thing has happened over the last week?
Bonus question: If your awesome Disneyland Plaid gave you $50 Disney Dollars for treats,
what would you purchase? No calories count!
I am celebrating feeling GREAT about the way I ate and drank over our long holiday weekend! Sure it could have been better.... but it could have been SO MUCH WORSE!!
Hmmmm.... some of my favorite Disney treats include a chocolate-dipped Mickey head Rice Krispy treat, caramel apple, and ANYTHING from the Karamel Kuchen in Epcot (Germany). But I have to agree with what a few others here have said about the Kitchen Sink sundae (or the smaller Mickey Pants version)..... I've ALWAYS thought it would be so much fun to take it on as a family!!
Oh is there any magic maker photos I can buy for 50 usd? It will be great treat to have family pictures taken at the theme park with some magic added. Love magic photos! Probably not if it cost as WDW 200 usd!!! How does this work at Disney California?
Woohoo I have great one!
I woke up and checked my weight. No weight loss this week. I had few meals out, I was unwell one day, I have been overdoing it in the gym (just as it's fun) and with husband travelling few nights every week, either him or me being either in the gym or tennis, working full time, drop off pick up our son from summer camp - things have fallen behind. Home is messy, food not pre cooked, proper food shopping not done. I am tired and cranky and this is all stressing me out. Too tired.
Then I re read one of my posts in June forum re best weight. If I am not enjoying myself I won't keep it up! So I need to plan for rest time, and night where me and my husband are home or out but together, fun family days, pre cooking for the week - or with one word life. So I need to have a think about my schedule and make it happier!
So after having a lowish morning, I went out on my lunch for a walk (to the shops

). There was 70% off sale @ favorite designer Elie Tahari and a I tried a dress I really like size 4 (UK 8) and it fits well. So, excuse me about the weird headless picture or the mess in the dressing room - but this is me today on my lunch break, feeling good about myself trying my new dress! I am not going to worry about weight loss but will continue focusing on healthy happy lifestyle as it's working great. There is always room for improvement, but 18lbs weight loss is a lot for someone my size and to be honest I feel I look like a healthy 38 year old woman! I love 70 % off sales
Last year this time nothing was fitting me, i spend my summer crying my eyes out in hospital corridors drenched of fear. I sow no life without fear, no light in the end of the tunnel. I spend my summer looking like crazy woman, wearing baggy clothes & unbrushed hear and crying and on off. I felt so sad, old, fat and ... done.
I am so grateful I feel alive and happy again. I won't stress over weight loss. It will happen when it happen and if it doesn't happen - well I am ok with it too.
WOWZA.... I hope you bought that dress because you look amazing!!!

Okay friends...... better late than never, but here I am! Worked at school, then home to pick from the garden and make dinner (and the fresh sweet peas were beyond delicious!!), laundry, kitchen clean up, pull some weeds in the garden, water plants, and then finally a shower and on the computer! Phew....I'm pooped out!
Dinner was a weird combination of foods, but I wanted to use the fresh stuff from the garden right away..... so the peas were our "starter", fresh sliced cucumber for the "salad" portion, then onto eggs (scrambled for the men, egg white omelet for me) with parmesan roasted summer squash for DH and I and steamed broccoli for DS. We grew ALL of it except the eggs (although I admit DH has been talking about chickens for a while now) and it was so fresh and delicious! Finished with fruit (new Aldi's nearby has crazy good prices on melon and blueberries right now). No excuses for not eating healthy this week! I'll be picking again tomorrow... probably a zucchini and a summer squash and possibly more peas. Tomatoes aren't far off either!
Exercise..... not today. Should have gotten up and gone for 30 minutes before work, but I didn't. I did take a short walk outside during my very short lunch time but it was in the 90's today, so too hot for much walking.
I'm subbing as a para for summer school tomorrow morning before changing into my painting clothes to do my summer maintenance job for the afternoon, so I must dash to get things laid out and packed up and be sure there is something to pack for lunch (I've still got a few jars of soup left from the winter and spring cooking weekends, so I think that will have to do, along with some fruit) besides cucumbers and melon!
Sorry I didn't have time for more personal replies tonight..... I couldn't believe that since I had last check in on Friday or Saturday that this thread had gained 5 pages!! Yikes! So glad we are keeping busy with the chatter! ............................P
