July 6th - Woohoo Wednesday!
giphy.gif

It's time to celebrate... it's woohoo Wednesday!

In keeping with tradition, we will pause our Disneyland Tour on Wednesdays to take time to celebrate YOU.
We've made it to the middle of the week and now we brag about the good things that have happened!
No accomplishment is too big or too small and can be about anything you like.

July 6th - Question of the Day
What are you celebrating today?
What amazing thing has happened over the last week?

Bonus question: If your awesome Disneyland Plaid gave you $50 Disney Dollars for treats,
what would you purchase? No calories count!

Woohoo! I got to make my FP+ for September yesterday! We are renting points and staying onsite (something usually never do) so we get the 60 day window! Jumpin' for joy because we were able to get both the new Frozen ride and on a different day the Soarin update.

Bonus: Ok I'm also pretending time and space constraints don't exist! I would get honey popcorn from Tokyo (I would fall over and faint if they brought that over here!) and wash it down with a Schofferhofer grapefruit beer from Epcot. Then for "dessert," some drinkable chocolate paired with Rosa Regale at the chocolate experience booth at Food and Wine.

Love Woohoo Wednesday!
No weight woo-hoos over here. I went overboard over the long weekend and will be losing the weight I gained at least this week, if not next week as well. Oh well, the bbq and beer was delicious!

I'm going to woo-hoo that we are already working on a return trip to Disney. Ideas are flying back and forth about possibly November. Nothing set in stone yet, but I like talking about it!

Bonus Question- I'm going to have to go with a waffle cone from the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor. Reminds me of Wishes  Also a nice big sundae from Ghiradelli at Disney Springs. I know it's not really "Disney" but it's the only place we get it and their hot fudge is so delish! Yes, I am an ice cream fiend!!

Congrats on the FP+!!!! YAY. And yum to the food. I am drooling just reading about it.

You and me both. You can take my cake and my pie (meh, whatever).... but don't you ever come between me and ice cream.

Thanks for the great picture of Chip and Dale. I have been fans of them since I met them at the 1964 World's Fair in NY. I wish I still had that picture.

My woohoo Wednesday was a shirt. Dh gave me 2 t-shirts for Christmas and I didn't like the way they fit. The other day I tried one on and it fit great. I then tried different one that I had put aside last year and I loved the way it fit also.

If we had $50 to spend on treats we would probably buy Mickey Ice Creams or Dole Whips. I myself would buy a chocolate covered banana.

It is HOT here in jersey with 90% humidity. I took the dog out for his walk early this morning when it was still below 90. He is only 11 pounds so the heat does bother him. When he gets too hot he finds the shade and lays down whether you want him to or not. He did it twice on the walk this morning.

Have a happy and healthy evening.

I love FP+ day! That and dining reservation day are so much fun. I love the planning for a Disney World trip.

I'm looking forward to seeing my daughter's face light up on the new Frozen ride. Congrats on getting the FP - I can't wait to hear all about it. We will only be doing one day at Epcot so we'll try for the Frozen ride and rope drop Soarin'. I guess we'll just have to wait out Test Track or try to grab a FP for it after our first three are done.

JULY 3rd - Partners and Partnerships

Question of the Day - Partnerships
The Partnership Statue shows us how Mickey Mouse and Walt would be nothing without the other.
The quote below the statue shows us how we can use our connections for fun, love, and support.

Who would stand next to you in your personal partnership statue today?
Who is your support system in this lifestyle change?
What activities (besides Disney) do you, your parents, and/or your children enjoy doing together?

Bonus: Share any photos you have of you standing with one of the partnership statues at Disney properties!

The majority of my weight loss happened when DH just wasn't on board. He struggles with his own weight issues and while I was losing he was gaining (and gaining). I have my Mom for phone support, but I don't see her often enough. DD is great support as well (and often the BEST voice of reason when things don't seem to be going my way with the scale) but I don't see her often either. And when I re-started this journey, even though I was following WW, I wasn't attending meetings.... so honestly, the WISH groups that I've been a part of for 8 years now have TRULY been one of my biggest support systems! People come and go and there are VERY FEW of the "originals" still left...... and once or twice the groups got VERY small and I feared they would end... but they haven't! LOVE always having someone to "chat" with or complain to here!

I've learned that I need to be my OWN support system.... because in the long run, that is the person who you need to count on the most. And I've learned to be VOCAL about my needs (to some degree). I cannot expect people to read my mind.

DD and I enjoy doing EVERYTHING together.... obviously Disney, but travel of any sort, road trips, new restaurants, Disney movies, etc. DS and I enjoy time together as well, but it is much harder to find things that we BOTH enjoy.... but I always try!

Since my kids were young, I've taken them both away every year on a Mother/Child trip.... DD and I have no trouble finding things to do and fitting it into the schedule, but sadly it hasn't been as much of a priority for DS (for him, not me) and it is much harder to find something to do that we would both love....but I keep trying!!

My mum is a big supporter of me - when I lived closer and was studying and in my first couple of years of working full time and juggling the kids - she would sneak over to the house in the day when I was out and do the laundry and tidy up to help me out. Her and my Dad always help by watching the kids and getting them to/from school when they were younger and I was working further from home. I would also have to have my kids in the statue though as you said Courtney Walt or Mickey wouldn't be the same without the other and I just wouldn't be the me I am without my kids.

All the lovely people on here are a bit part of my support system and a couple of friends who I exercise with each week.

Mum, the kids and I wander the shops together usually once a week, in the summer the kids and I like to hit the beach or the river to play in the water, walks on the beach that include a game of soccer, backyard soccer or cricket, the younger 2 like to ride bikes (I need a new one). A more sedentary thing we all like to do is go to the movies.

I have 2 one each in DL and DCA

LOVE your pictures!! Your children are beautiful!!

Good afternoon. I am checking in after taking the dog for a walk this afternoon. I did something to my knee yesterday and it is a little achy.

The shower yesterday was lovely. My sister had to feel proud. It was a tea and it said on the invitation that hats were optional. Most of my side of the party had a hat. I have to say that a lot of it was because of me. I helped my sister and my mother to decorate their hats and then I provided hats to my future daughters in law, a niece and a friend of my sister besides the one I was wearing.

Here I am with my husband and our friends from our trip in Oct. I am the one on the right. I don't look too bad considering I was out with somesort of stomach thing for the 24 hours before this picture was taken.

FINALLY I can put a face to the name! Do you believe in all of the time we've "known" each other here on WISH challenge, that is the FIRST picture of you I've ever seen??? Nice to meet you!!

July 5th - Onwards to Adventureland

Question of the Day - July 5th
Disneyland is famous for its Dole Whip snack, which can be purchased outside the Tiki Room.
It's a pineapple-flavored soft serve and great to munch on while enjoying the show on a hot day.

What are some healthy snacks you enjoy eating?
Have you changed your eating habits recently because of the lifestyle change you're making?

Bonus: Have you tried the Dole Whip? What did you think?

Well, obviously my "lifestyle change" happened primarily years ago..... but that doesn't mean that it doesn't continue to evolve. Healthy snacks I enjoy include TONS of fruits and veggies, nuts (in tiny portions), hummus with veggies, and if I want a sweet treat other than fruit, usually that means a frozen Yasso bar.... coconut is my favorite.

So hurtful. :guilty:

Awwww.... don't take it too personally! We LOVE having you here! ;)

Bonus question: If your awesome Disneyland Plaid gave you $50 Disney Dollars for treats,

I am celebrating feeling GREAT about the way I ate and drank over our long holiday weekend! Sure it could have been better.... but it could have been SO MUCH WORSE!!

Hmmmm.... some of my favorite Disney treats include a chocolate-dipped Mickey head Rice Krispy treat, caramel apple, and ANYTHING from the Karamel Kuchen in Epcot (Germany). But I have to agree with what a few others here have said about the Kitchen Sink sundae (or the smaller Mickey Pants version)..... I've ALWAYS thought it would be so much fun to take it on as a family!!

Oh is there any magic maker photos I can buy for 50 usd? It will be great treat to have family pictures taken at the theme park with some magic added. Love magic photos! Probably not if it cost as WDW 200 usd!!! How does this work at Disney California?

Woohoo I have great one!

I woke up and checked my weight. No weight loss this week. I had few meals out, I was unwell one day, I have been overdoing it in the gym (just as it's fun) and with husband travelling few nights every week, either him or me being either in the gym or tennis, working full time, drop off pick up our son from summer camp - things have fallen behind. Home is messy, food not pre cooked, proper food shopping not done. I am tired and cranky and this is all stressing me out. Too tired.

Then I re read one of my posts in June forum re best weight. If I am not enjoying myself I won't keep it up! So I need to plan for rest time, and night where me and my husband are home or out but together, fun family days, pre cooking for the week - or with one word life. So I need to have a think about my schedule and make it happier!

So after having a lowish morning, I went out on my lunch for a walk (to the shops :smooth:). There was 70% off sale @ favorite designer Elie Tahari and a I tried a dress I really like size 4 (UK 8) and it fits well. So, excuse me about the weird headless picture or the mess in the dressing room - but this is me today on my lunch break, feeling good about myself trying my new dress! I am not going to worry about weight loss but will continue focusing on healthy happy lifestyle as it's working great. There is always room for improvement, but 18lbs weight loss is a lot for someone my size and to be honest I feel I look like a healthy 38 year old woman! I love 70 % off sales

Last year this time nothing was fitting me, i spend my summer crying my eyes out in hospital corridors drenched of fear. I sow no life without fear, no light in the end of the tunnel. I spend my summer looking like crazy woman, wearing baggy clothes & unbrushed hear and crying and on off. I felt so sad, old, fat and ... done.

I am so grateful I feel alive and happy again. I won't stress over weight loss. It will happen when it happen and if it doesn't happen - well I am ok with it too.

WOWZA.... I hope you bought that dress because you look amazing!!!

***********************

Okay friends...... better late than never, but here I am! Worked at school, then home to pick from the garden and make dinner (and the fresh sweet peas were beyond delicious!!), laundry, kitchen clean up, pull some weeds in the garden, water plants, and then finally a shower and on the computer! Phew....I'm pooped out!

Dinner was a weird combination of foods, but I wanted to use the fresh stuff from the garden right away..... so the peas were our "starter", fresh sliced cucumber for the "salad" portion, then onto eggs (scrambled for the men, egg white omelet for me) with parmesan roasted summer squash for DH and I and steamed broccoli for DS. We grew ALL of it except the eggs (although I admit DH has been talking about chickens for a while now) and it was so fresh and delicious! Finished with fruit (new Aldi's nearby has crazy good prices on melon and blueberries right now). No excuses for not eating healthy this week! I'll be picking again tomorrow... probably a zucchini and a summer squash and possibly more peas. Tomatoes aren't far off either!

Exercise..... not today. Should have gotten up and gone for 30 minutes before work, but I didn't. I did take a short walk outside during my very short lunch time but it was in the 90's today, so too hot for much walking.

I'm subbing as a para for summer school tomorrow morning before changing into my painting clothes to do my summer maintenance job for the afternoon, so I must dash to get things laid out and packed up and be sure there is something to pack for lunch (I've still got a few jars of soup left from the winter and spring cooking weekends, so I think that will have to do, along with some fruit) besides cucumbers and melon!

Sorry I didn't have time for more personal replies tonight..... I couldn't believe that since I had last check in on Friday or Saturday that this thread had gained 5 pages!! Yikes! So glad we are keeping busy with the chatter! ............................P

Forgot to say.... yes I've tried the Dole Whip and YES I like it!! And I have a great photo of DD and I with them..... but for some reason I absolutely CANNOT find it! It must be mis-named in the computer. Gonna have to search for that real soon!.............P

You look amazing - I am so happy to hear that things are looking much brighter for you and your family this summer :-)

I've learned that I need to be my OWN support system.... because in the long run, that is the person who you need to count on the most. And I've learned to be VOCAL about my needs (to some degree). I cannot expect people to read my mind.

This is so true.

This all sounds so yummy - I am not much of a gardener - I keep thinking I should try something small vegetable garden wise.

I have been to the movies twice in the last 2 days lol - yesterday I factored in movie food - but today I took my bottle of water with me and was satisfied with that. Yesterday was me, the kids and Mum - then this morning was just Mum and I whilst DD and one of her friends had a girly shopping morning together at the shops. Mum and I saw 'Me Before You' I have mixed feelings about this story line of this movie - but Mum wanted to see it and I wanted to do something with her as she has been feeling pretty down grieving for her sister. I am going to walk to the local shops soon to pick up some dinner stuff.

July 7, 2016 -- World Famous Jungle Cruise
DSC_7070.jpg

After finishing our Dole Whips and trip through the Enchanted Tiki Room, we're literally making a
hard left and about 100 feet away is the entrance to the World Famous Jungle Cruise.

The Jungle Cruise entrance boasts a double-decker loading area that is often used for Indiana Jones' overflow
lines or for the Jungle Cruise on a busy day. This groan-inducing ride is filled with terrible jokes, animatronic
animals, and the greatest sight to behold: the backside of water! Unlike its MK counterpart, the Jungle Cruise
is smaller at Disneyland because most of its track was taken out to build the Indiana Jones attraction.

Question of the Day - July 7th
The Jungle Cruise ride is filled with terrible puns and jokes. They're often groan inducing and cause
you to roll your eyes. Therefore, today's challenge is to do better. After all, laughter causes you to burn calories!

Share with us your favorite jokes and puns!
Make 'em dirty. Make 'em about anything you want.

Ok I can't promise funny - I had to use my friend Google for some inspiration ... I went Disney Themed ....

Why do people go to Disneyland? ......... So they can get a little goofy!

Why can't you give Elsa a balloon? .......... Because she will Let it go.

I am not a joke person. I often don't get them and take them too literal. My kids do love them and here is there favorite right now. My son even got to ask it at the Laugh Floor on our trip in June. This kid does not have a fear of talking in front of people unlike his momma. I avoid public speaking like it is the plague.

A cowboy rode into town on Monday, stayed 3 days and left of Friday.

I will come back with the answer later today.

Okay. Wow. We're putting me on the spot here.

Here's one of my father's favorites:
What happens to baby corn when it grows up? It becomes popcorn!
I made this joke up when I was like 8 and my dad became obsessed with it. I don't know what the actual answer to the question was supposed to be, I just made up the popcorn thing.

I can't think of any more right now, but if I come up with something funny, I'll come back and share.

This apparently is my go-to joke when I've had too much to drink - and I say the punchline all adorable and usually fall over :P
Q - What did the snail say as he rode on the turtle's back?
A - Wheeeeeeeeeeeeee!
And this is my "oh no" joke.
Q - What's the opposite of Christopher Reeves?
A - Christopher.. Walken.
(In my defense, the second joke was better when he was alive)

Most of my jokes would probably be inappropriate, but my son LOVES puns and we really enjoy the jungle cruise. Some of the puns are good, and some are so bad that they are good. We did the jingle cruise last year and now the ride (jungle or jingle) is a must for each trip.

My daughter actually loves the "motto" pun from Lion King so I'll go with that to share:

Big news in our household this morning. We were looking at future vacations and thinking we might do a cruise during winter break of 2017 (I know, we like to plan way in advance), but after talking it over it looks like we are going to do a California trip with Disneyland, Hollywood, and San Diego instead. The early plan is to stay on site at Disneyland and do two days there (one day at Disneyland, one at California Adventure). Very excited that we'll finally get to Disneyland! Still trying to figure everything out, but if anyone has any tips or advice on where to stay or anything else, let me know!

We are planners too. Well maybe just me. I have the next several planned. Now I just need to get my way. Hoping to do a disney cruise this year, the next year a beach vacation (Myrtle beach), and then a big 2 week vacation to Disneyland and surrounding areas. My husband is not sold on the Disney yet. I just threw that on him the other day. The plan is to be back to WDW for the 50th anniversary.

Hi... your personal tour guide is ready to help when you have a list of questions put together. I've lived in California for over 30 years (I'm nearly a native!) and have been a Disney passholder since 1994. I'll make sure you're set up right and can give you some great advice when you're ready to start planning. :D

Since everyone answered there's right away I will answer mine now. I do think I missed something along the lines of how can he do this or something.

Answer is the horses name was Friday.

My kids are really much better at this then me.

Everyone's jokes are making me chuckle -- keep on posting them! :D

My favorite Disney joke: What do you say to Simba when he's walking too slow? Mufasa!

I like this one -- too funny!

Hmm.... i don't know! :(

This is one of my favorite's from Beauty and the Beast

I love how there's an adult joke in that movie -- I didn't get it until I rewatched the movie as a teenager :P

Here's one of my father's favorites:
What happens to baby corn when it grows up? It becomes popcorn!

I giggled at this one too!
