my kids (well my DD) wanted ice cream from Up in hanover tonight... LOL, like I said we avoid Hanover like the plague... On the way up I was telling my husband about the Famous Weiner... LOL
I think they have ICECREAM!!
I can't wait until tomorrow!! We are going after lunch to get another snowball. I'll take pictures!!![]()
oh my goodness, was your hubby dying in jeans!
Vaccaros is YUMMMMMMYYY! There is also one in Hunt Valley if you guys head over to the movies there!
I am enjoying your trip as much as you are!!
It was a 102 degrees earlier today. I would have died!
It won't take 30 mins from Owings Mills to get to HV... You'll get there faster than that! Don't worry!
Anything you decide to do will probably be crowded/busy this weekend. I'd just pick one and do it! Hershey may be a bit more crowded than DC, only because the season is just really starting for Hershey. They aren't open all year round. Where as people have had there fill of DC... It will be crowded though wherever regardless!
Fourth of July is pretty big at Hershey, they do fire works and all that and are open late on Saturdays in the month of July.
Labor Day is prob slow because Most schools are back in session... but the 4th is def a mad house! I did it before kids! I don't have the nerve at my old age of 34!![]()
If you check out the local weather on TV, the weather is supposed to become much cooler the next few days - I think low to mid 80's. Your trip to the Inner Harbor will be much nicer.
While it is going to be a bit cooler, you may want to visit the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore - it's not free like DC, but it is closer and I have visited it many times without DH with kids. You can take food with you, so you might want to pack a lunch. We like to eat at the picnic tables on the hill above the elephants. There is a baby elephant (Sampson) we like to watch play while we eat. They do sell food there if you decide not to pack. You will probably see signs for it if you travel on 83 South to the Inner Harbor. Just my two cents for this week!
Oh, almost forgot... Also - fyi at the Regal Theatres there are FREE kids movies on Tues and Weds at their 10:00am showing. Each week there are 2 different movies to choose from. I think Westminster 9 or Hunt Valley would be closest to you. http://www.regmovies.com/nowshowing/familyfilmfestivalschedule.aspx?state=MD
my 2 cents: Both DC an Hershey will be crowded. I responded to you on the other post - we love Dutch Wonderland but I think your older kids will be bored. You might be better off going to hershey during the week if you can swing it. you should come to catonsville on saturday for the parade in the afternoon at 3pm and great fireworks at night! nice small town fourth celebrations. If you have to go on a weekend, i would go to hershey this weekend and go to dc next weekend. if you are hanging around baltimore, i would see what they have going on for the fourth. how long are you staying again - is it the whole summer? (sorry, just started following this thread).
snowballs are great! we have a stand in catonsville that everyone goes to and they are so cheap.
we love the maryland zoo and pack our lunch all the time. it usually isnt very crowded if you go in the morning.
Hunt valley is nice, the theater is nice, and they have my favorite grocery store - WEGMANS! love that place.
THAT PLACE IS WONDERFUL CARLA! I LOVED that place when I lived over there! There is actually ONE other place that is BETTER than that... SNOASIS... it is in Cockeysville...which is right before HUNT VALLEY.. IF you go to the movies in HUnt V... I would stop there after! You can take York Road to Padonia road from the movies... OR get back on 83 go south and get off the exit that says Padonia Road...Turn left at exit (east) Go through York Road and its the road after on the left(greenside drive will get u into the parking lot easiest)... across the street is a MARS grocery store. It is the BEST snowball IN MD! Second best is the one on Liberty Road!
