My DH has fallen in love with that area. He loves small towns, we both do. :) He spent a little time there a few weeks ago at some kind of street party thing when they had a band some booths set up out there. He took us there yesterday (I think it's the same place) and we walked around downtown. Some of the buildings were different from anything that we had ever seen. One looked like an old castle. We also laughed at the name of the Mexican place there "Papa Joes" because thats what my kids call my step dad, and he hates Mexican food.

Also, for the person who told me about Luca's Pizza, DH did try it and he really liked it. We will also be trying it soon. :)

Well, gotta get the kids up and get this day started. We are going to get a snowcone after lunch today at a little place close by. They were closed when we went by yesterday, but DH says that they stay packed. I told him that you all told me to be sure to try one while we are here so we are going to give it a shot today. I hope they are open!!:goodvibes

I hope you like the snowballs! They are best with MARSHMALLOW! everyone thinks it's crazy until they try it! What? not hard like a snowcone? Syrup on snow? With marshmallow? Chocolate syrup too?? Insane? Insanely tasty.

We loved them, but we didn't try the marshmallow or anything, I didn't know to do that!! lol We must go back and get another one. I had strawberry, the kids had something that was blue. It's three hours later & my sons mouth is still blue. :rotfl2: What flavors do you like the best? There were so many to choose from. The ice was amazing too, unlike anything that we have ever had. It was so smooth, almost like icecream. :) Thank you all for telling me about them. I would have never tried one had I not known. :goodvibes

Berger cookies are also available at Highs stores.

My favorite snowBALL (not snowcone, no no no!) is chocolate with marshmallow. My daughter found a place in the Outer Banks that sells them and when she ordered chocolate with marshmallow the lady said, "You must be from Baltimore."

:rotfl2: That's right... snowBALL... I am still learning. I will have to try the chocolate with marshmallow because that sounds so good to me right now.

The kids are wanting to go see a movie(Toy Story) tomorrow while DH is at work. I am on the hunt for a nice theater close to Owings Mills... any idea?? I saw one at the mall, but I am not sure I can find it again. :rotfl2:

Do they sell Snowballs in the inner Harbor or nearby?

I would guess that they would. This place was just on the side of the road, so look for them on your way in and out of town. :goodvibes

I would suggest seeing movies in Hunt Valley. Yes, Owings Mills mall has a theater, but the proximity to the metro makes it rowdy.

To get to Hunt Valley from Owings Mills (the longer, but easier way), take 795 south to 695 east- only 1 exit away. Then take 83 north to exit 20 east (I believe it's A) Follow to the first light and Hunt Valley Town Center is on the left. The theater is in the back. It's a great outdoor center, lots of food, a great bookstore- Greetings and Readings. Very safe.

Enjoy! If my kids were closer to your kids' ages, I'd meet you there!

HA I wanted to post this but didn't know how to word it! LOL Good job!
Hunt Valley is close and it's great... U can shop and eat after! :thumbsup2

Well lets see eveyone has done a really good job at telling you about baltimore...really impressed. Here are my 2 cents.

Bengies Drive In.....FRI. Sat. Sun. Three first run movies for $7 per person...wow what a deal. Great snack bar. The guy shows old "shorts" during intermission.

Patiserrie Poupon Bakery.....deserts that are to beautiful to eat at a cheap prices.

Lots to do in the inner harbor

Even though The Orioles are having yet another bad year (14th I think) Camdens Yards is the best place to see a MLB game.

Lexington Market is one of the oldest working markets in the United States.....They have everything you could imagine..Chitterling to skinned rabbit....Please take your husband as there are a lot of unsavory people there, like someone said dont put your tourist blinders on if you guys go.

The Blue Moon Cafe is good...I would plan to go during the week as it is VERY small and gets crowded on the weekends...try to get there by 700am for a table or you will be sorry.

If you handled Atlanta driving then you will have no problem here in Baltimore.

Hope some of this helps. Have fun and be Safe

Darn, I read this to late. I took the kids to the mall at Westminster today to see it. I found it with no problem & I even made it back without getting lost. The movie was GREAT!! The kids really liked it. I can't believe the prices though. Back home at our hometown theater during the day, movies are 4.00, not 7.50, and drinks are 3.00, not 7.00 and candy is 2.00, not 3 something. :scared1: It was worth it though. We enjoyed it. :thumbsup2

Headed out to eat some Mexican tonight. I have no idea the name of it, but DH knows. I'll let ya know how it goes. :)

the movies here are expensive... Night times over 10!:scared1:
Welcome to my town again! Wish my kids weren't so little...since you keep visting my area! :thumbsup2

:rotfl2: Thank you! I wish your kids were older too, that would be fun.

We had dinner at Plauelas Mexican, and the food was pretty good. DH had tried it before and liked it so we went back. My kids LOVE cheese dip and chips and it passed their test. I still want to try the others places suggested, because that didn't knock my socks off. It was good, and the people were friendly, but I have had better.

Hanging out at the pool tomorrow & doing a little research on Hanover. DH wants to go there this weekend. I have no idea why or what is there so if you think it will be a dud, please let me know. Sunday we are going to the Harbor so that should be fun. I have got to check on getting there & what to do & where to eat lunch. I have a list that I made from this thread. I just need to pull up prices & such. Any more advice is more than welcome. I could use all the help that I can get. :)

Hanover isn't real exciting...unless you just want to go to the UTZ factory and stock up on snacks!:thumbsup2 I am 9 miles from the PA line... Hanover and MD... I never go there LOL
Unless you just want to go for a drive on some roads... How about Checking out Gettysburg... its really not that much Farther... there is also a SMALL strip of outlets there. You take The same route of Westminster to get to Gettysburg! You have that road down pat! :rotfl2:

Boyds Bear Country is just outside Gettysburg. Not sure the ages of your kids, they might like it. Gettysburg has civil war tours if you want to take a tour -- you can do it in your own car, on bike, or in a tourbus.

Don't forget to plan a trip to Lancaster and see the Amish things / Dutch Wonderland if your kids are young and also think about Hershey / Hershey Park for a fun day.

If you are going to the Inner Harbor from where you are, it is probably easier to take the Metro.

Did you go out for crabs yet? You can't miss the crabs.

We will be going to the Inner Harbor on Sunday and will be there for the week. If you have any suggestions for nearby restaurants and activities, I would greatly appreciate it. I made a list going through this link but, I don't know how much of it is closeby. Looking for reasonably priced meals, I have 2 sons that like to eat, DS13 is a big eater.
Would one of the better boat trips be the SEA Dog?
How far is Annapolis?
