I can't wear crocs. I have wide feet, but high arches and the nubs just feel so uncomfortable to me. I use Easy Spirit running shoes and Easy Spirit open heeled dress shoes (believe it or not!). The open heeled dress shoes are more comfy than the running shoes. I use socks so my feet don't rub against the inside of the open heeled shoes. I always use socks w/ coolmax, it swipes the sweat away from your feet and you have less friction than cotton socks.
I think the walking distance thing would be fine for parents who have strollers for their young ones. I stay a Hojo and have never had issues with the walking distance. Of course my kid is a teen, so he carries himself!
I would never venture to a park like DL w/out my own stroller if I had a young child. My son and his friends are small for their age and I recall getting a stroller at the park for them to trade off sitting in when they were 9, 10 and even 11 years old!
They looked like they were all of 6-8 years old at the time. Those Disney strollers sure can take a lot more weight than regular strollers. One of our steps is equal to at least 2-3 for a small kid, so I imagine in their minds they're walking 2-3 times further than we adults are. By getting the in park stroller to hold our kids and 'stuff' we saved alot of end of the day burn out for the kids even at those ages.
