Things DIS has taught me

I have learned so much over the years on DIS. I use to just read the forum and did not sign up until our 4th trip. With that thought, the best things I have learned:

Our most Magical memories are made because of tips I have read off here.
If I don't understand something a DIS'er will help.
I am not alone in being in love with WDW.
The real fun of DIS starts when you get involved and post thoughts and questions.

I learned about Fish Extenders, everything to know about the Magical Express and crowd calendars. Yes and I agree with BigMommaMouse with getting help with anything and I'm not alone in being in love with WDW. I used to think that I was crazy for feeling this way. Thank you all! :)

I Owe The success of my 1st ever WDW trip as a single mom to 3 boys to THE DIS! My trip was PERFECT & it was because of all the help I received right here!

1) RD (we went 2013, prior to FP+) I learned the importance of RD for MK and how to navigate the FP system!

2) Jedi Academy! Who knew???? I asked a question "how should I plan my DHS day?" And one of the regulars (forget who) went into detail about JA. My youngest 9 loved it! And we got some great photos!

3) Narrowing down ADRs ~ we did NOT have one bad meal and made some great choices! Garden Grill was the best decision as we got excellent character photos. Also, HDDR was a highlight for us.

4) The importance of a Rest Day. This was also a highlight. Sleeping in. Enjoying the resort pool. Renting bikes and playing video games. All fun for 3 boys.

5) Dole Whip! Enough said.

I've learned: *about the 180+10 ADR *60+ for fp+ strategies to get what you want *Disney encyclopedia *Lots of maps and parade tips from Robo *Everything fp+ from Mesaboy's information *Special shout out to those who are willing to coordinate fps and ADRs they are dropping and those who see something open and announce it on the board so others get a chance to get it also. * Magic shots **Great info about the resort I'll be staying in :)

I looked on Amazon for the Disney encyclopedia, which one do you recommend?
Thank you!

the Junior Encyclopedia of Animated Characters is the one I have because its the newest one with the Frozen peeps in it and its the the cheaper of the too.

Disney Junior Encyclopedia of Animated Characters: Including characters from your favorite Disney*Pixar films is the older one with out Frozen but it does have the Disney Jr toons in it.

I cant speak for the older on but the newer one is the one that I have that is light weight and will still fit in a my backpack. It might be too big for a messenger bag, but it works perfect in a backpack or a diaper bag.

What I learned was that there is so much to learn about WDW and other Disney related topics and the learning never ends. Another thing I learned was to always ask if you have a question about something. Ask it on the DIS or ask a CM while on your trip.

There are so many things I have learned I couldn't list them all.

You can substitute at a CS. Don't want another dessert ask for a water.

You could use your unused CS credits for snack credits. 3-1 at a resort.

Robo convinced me to send WDW a letter requesting a refund when a CM mishandled when we upgraded to APs and tried to us a 10% off coupon. I think it was ten percent. And I got it!!!

Since we haven't been since FP+ went live, pretty much everything about it including the glitch the other day and now we have multiple tier 1 FP at both Epcot and DHS.

ROPE DROP!!!

the good old days when you could use your FPs past your printed return window.

there are so many gifted and generous people on the DIS. I love reading about their adventures both good and bad and their love for all things Disney. Even though I may not be quite as big a Disney fanatic as some here I definitely feed off of their love to keep me going when I am in between trips.

Thank you! I just ordered it. We always carry a backpack so the size is fine :-)

yay! This is why i started this thread... I have learned a few new things and got to share with other people the best things I was taught.

Yes, what Bellanota said, plus I got mine from Barnes and Noble. They did not have them in stock (I went to our local store), but I ordered them and they were sent to my house. Plus, I got my B&N discount! You could also check Books a Million.
Last time I went I took my granddaughter, and we did the autograph book where you can put a picture beside the autograph. She treasures that as well.

- The free dining plan offer and when it would be available. Made a whole difference to me. :worship:
- How to get a fastpass to a BOG lunch.
- The concerns about the Forbidden Journey seat and restrain sizes and that I would probably not fit
- The Anna & Elsa M&G demand.
- That there is a community where most people are as obsessed as me (or more) about Disney. :thumbsup2

What is the Forbidden Journey?

We have been going to WDW since the early days, when MK was the only park, but it wasn't until I joined the Dis two years ago that I learned how to make our trips more enjoyable. :goodvibes

Probably the most helpful thing I learned was about the discounts. Thanks to the Dis I was able to book resort discounts as soon as they were announced. It has saved us a lot of money. :thumbsup2

Things I never knew about or would have missed without the people on the Dis:

- the welcome show at MK
- BOG fast pass
- the extension of the Frozen Fireworks during our Sept trip
- Dapper Days - we happened to be at WDW for this little event, which was fun to see
- some great ideas for decorating our MagicBands :thumbsup2
- how to set up MDE and use - it was brand new when I joined here, so I learned along with everyone else
- I never knew about Southwest Airlines cancellation and credit policy until I read it here
- great dining suggestions - I found this extremely helpful
- fun things to do besides just the rides - too many to mention

I'm sure i can think of lots more, but that's a good start. :)

I have learned lots of things that make our trips easier and more special. I learned all about the business class rooms at CSR which we tried on our last trip and really enjoyed. Nice lounge and perfect location! I learned about BOG fp for lunch here and got help when I couldn't make one for our second trip which worked beautifully. I learned about taking the boat from World Showcase in Epcot to the entrance of DHS which we have done for hopping and also to save our feet the long walk back to the front of Epcot to get on a bus back to our resort. The DHS bus stops are near the boat dock. I learned how to use the dining plan, that you can share meals at some places, what to pack to keep your resort room organized, tips for traveling with kids like having them each (5 kids) carry a fanny pack with their own snacks and small water bottle and taking a break in the afternoon. There are many more things I can not list everything here. Thanks everyone!

I've learned too many things to name. I've also met a few friends and love to come browse the boards for fun, even if I don't have a trip planned. I consider myself pretty educated on Disney vacations now.... so much so that I was able to make a last minute a day trip with DBF successful last month. We made it to 3 parks in one day and had a blast! :disrocks:

haha mine is lame and simple...

I learned how to plan my trip instead of just randomly "oh let's just show up" ...
I learned cool things to do with magic bands *evil laugh*
I learned how to schedule/do things that will make my 7yo squeal in pure excitement - which for me is all the magic I need :)
