I want to thank everyone here for everything I have learned and ideas I have been given. I figured with all the negative Threads around here I would start a positve one :cool1:

I want to know what the best things you have learned from DIS is? I'll go first:

1) How to manage the FP+ system. Y'all made it not so scarey and there is always someone to answer a question. Love or hate it we have to use it and everyone here helped.

2) The Disney Encyclopedia for autographs. Its the perfect size and with a new reader is somethign we will use.

3) Fairy godmother / tinkerbell gifts. Never would have thought of them on my own.

4) Touring plans and other sites to check crowd calenders. If I had questions about possible crowds people here could also help out.

These along with the cancellation threads made everything alot easier.

Ok who is next? Whats the best DIS thing you have learned.... pixiedust:

Yay! Glad to see I'm not the only one who wanted to start a positive thread today!

Ok, what I learned from DIS:

1. Lot's & lot's about Fastpass+ (Thanks everyone!)
2. Great information about the resorts we'll be staying in on our next trip.
3. NEVER give up on getting that coveted ADR!!
4. That the majority of Dissers are great people who are always willing to help!

-How to make and manage FP+ (special thanks to mesaboy2)
-All the reviews and pictures on the restaurant board (special thanks to Barb/jabead)
-The great maps from Robo
-Love sharing thoughts with others who watch reality shows on the community board
-someone on the boards has an answer to any of my questions

-All the reviews and pictures on the restaurant board (special thanks to Barb/jabead)

This especially as well. While Theme Parks and Strategies has been varying degrees of hostility, the Restaurant forum is like a sanctuary. Very rarely do posters snipe at each other there, yet they often disagree about their feelings on restaurants, yet usually discuss it a civil way.

The tips about ADRs and reviews really helped me have an amazing culinary experience on our vacation. We had 11 ADRs on our trip. 3 were amazing, 7 were good to very good and only 1 stunk, and I can't blame anyone for that as it's the hardest ADR to get, so I was gonna go after it no matter what I read.

The DISigners are amazing! We are going for Christmas this year and I've gotten some great invites/coupons so my daughter will have something special to open each morning:)

Hello everybody. What is the Disney encyclopedia for autographs? I have been trying to find a checklist type of thing for my kids. Thanks!

From DIS, I discovered that:

1. If I have a question about Disney, be it logistics or a very silly question on planning, I can ask here. People will provide great insightful answers very quickly.

2. I get updated on what's going on in the parks, although it's not my turn to return yet.

3. I learn to plan ( and over-plan) our trip down to minutes. And then throw the plan out when we arrive the park.

4. I read amazing stories and magics that happened in the parks. Those are so touching.

All in all, I am very thankful for DISboards.

Hello everybody. What is the Disney encyclopedia for autographs? I have been trying to find a checklist type of thing for my kids. Thanks!

Search Disney Encyclopedia on Amazon and you will find it. I hear alot of other places that sell bools have it also...

But basically its an Encylopedia of most of the Disney characters. Its not orginally intended to be used for autopgraphs but since its only missing the ones from Disney Jr as far as I can tell (and the Hero 6 ones since they are so new) it works perfect... It weighs less then half a pound will fit in a back pack and each character has a page devoted to them so them with facts about them. So the idea is to have Anna sign on her page and Mickey sign on his. :hyper: I love it cause my DD is just learning to read and loves books... it also is an a ice breaker at the meet and greets incase your kid doesnt know what to say or do.

1. Maps, maps, and even better maps thanks Robo!!!)
2. Resort info
3. Ideas for talking to characters
4. DAS for my DD's special needs
5. Dining reviews

Really my list could go on and on . . .

I learned how to change fastpasses to get times I would rather have instead of assigned, even if I have to change one at a time and get overlapping times (thanks, Mesaboy).
I learned how to get from Boardwalk to both DHS and EPCOT (thanks, Robo).
I learned about magic shots & memory maker.
I learned about staying at the Boardwalk Inn (was just there this past Mon- Wed). Lots of good info on room request and shortcuts (thanks to all on that thread).
Thank you to everyone who contributes. Even in the "not so positive" threads, I learn things, not only about WDW but also myself. I'm reminded to try and look at things from someone else's point of view, even if I may not agree.
And I've learned the best magic occurs when we help each other!

I have learned so much over the years here on Disboards, so thank you community!

1. To look for the hidden "black cat" among the Osbourne Christmas Lights as well as the Arkansas Razorback.

2. Hidden Mickey's

3. And so much more... oh at one time I remember there was a drawer in one of the stores at the end of the castle that you would look through the keyhole and you would "see tink" (a flash of twinkling light), but that store is no longer there.

Along with many of the items already mentioned, I learned about the wonders of Body Glide, moleskin, and double layer socks. Without all of these foot care tips, I would still be facing foot pain during my trips. I haven't had a blister since.

- FP+ Opening - I was able to get A&E and 7DMT ONLY because an awesome DISer posted that additional ones were out there. (Yeay)
- BOG FP - I wasn't aware of the 27 day deal and thought that since there wasn't anything out there they had all been taken already.
- There are some amazing people out here who start threads like the Fairy God Mailers and the Pay it Forward bins at WBC! Nice people way outnumber the mean ones.

Buzzin...I've gotta ask...which 3 were "amazing"...which 7 were "good to very good"...and I think I know what the stinker was but I'll let you tell me.

I've learned:

*about the 180+10 ADR
*60+ for fp+ strategies to get what you want
*Disney encyclopedia
*Lots of maps and parade tips from Robo
*Everything fp+ from Mesaboy's information
*Special shout out to those who are willing to coordinate fps and ADRs they are dropping and those who see something open and announce it on the board so others get a chance to get it also.
* Magic shots
**Great info about the resort I'll be staying in

:)

* BOG FP and that they opened them up again for Nov (I had given up on getting one and someone posted that Nov opened back up and I grabbed one!)
* How to work the FP+ system
* Jedi Academy
* Resort info
* How to rent DVC points!!
* What a great community the DIS is

Thanks to all the DVC posters who have answered all my crazy questions in the past.

One of the very best tips I learned on the DIS was the one about getting free ice water in the parks! That really helped us out! Bottled water is so expensive!

Also, tips & FP+ info from Mesaboy, maps & info from Robo, and ticket info from Chesire Figment ( sniff, sniff).
