We haven't had weather like this here (East coast of Canada) so far this year! This week has been a doozy; high school exams were this week, and there is one scheduled each morning, M-F. School was cancelled Monday, so there were 2 exams Tuesday. You guessed it...school was cancelled again today, so the Friday exam has been moved to Monday, which along with Tuesday was a day off for teachers and students as "turnaround" days. Now my brother might not get to go on his planned ski trip Saturday-Tuesday; he's working with his math teacher to see if he can write the exam when he gets back. I need a cruise!
School out yesterday and today. We started getting ice/sleet and freezing rain around 2 yesterday afternoon and continued all night. Today it is supposed to snow all day and thru the night off and on.
I love this weather. Kids and I are watching movies all day.
We have really missed all that in the NE Penna this winter, what we get is hitting VA and west.
But, we are thinking is this the calm before the BIG storm?
About two years ago we had over a foot of snow with inches of Ice on Valentines Day, Again on St, Patricks Day and I have to share the Scranton PA Irish Patti's Day Parade is the 3 largest of the nation. that was about 14-20, Then again the week AFTER Easter, we had 14".
The year before we had our own F3 tornado come through the mountains 15 mile path. Total forested areas, the school with kids in the gym, tractor trailers on their sides,. One home had decrations gone and the one next door had toy soldiers all in a row, YES It was December 1st! 2006,
In PA Pocono area? December?
New moto, keep my Emergency box at hand ALL year, not just summer.
We bought a generator to run the heat and fridge, etc, the power was off around us for WEEKS, every telephone pole, transformers trees across line for miles and miles....
The land is still scarred....

Back when I was in school (Rockwood School Dist.), they had to cancel if the buses couldn't safely get down the streets of the kids in the most rural areas. There were times we got the day off simply because they couldn't get up Alt Road or down one of the other little streets off of 109.
school canceled here after they already left for school on the bus! It turned around and brought them back!
It's not snowing very hard here but the roads are horrible. They have not plowed at all yet. *this was unexpected I guess?
That's how we do things here. I can remember several times as a kid leaving to walk to school and my mom chasing up the sidewalk after me to make me come back home.
