It's a little past 10 pm, over 50 degrees, not an ounce of any kind of precipitation, and they've cancelled all schools in about a 100 mile radius for tomorrow. WTH is wrong with these ppl???? Can we say a tad over-dramatic:confused3 They're saying that we're supposed to get UP TO an inch of snow/slush/freezing rain...and??? Not to mention that it was 68 here today and has been relatively warm for over a week, so even if we do get any type of precip., it's not like it's going to stick to anything:confused:

It just seems so bizarre to me.

Do they have some kind of snow day quota to fill for the year?!? Ridiculous.

TX and OK are going to get hit by Ice big time. Perhaps this gives parents a chance to relocate school kids for care before the last moment.
Try the weather channel to see. I know it was 50's there today, but real bad come the AM.
I think this storm is going south of PA hitting VA through the weekend.

Sounds like I'm in the same area you are. It was almost 70 here today, but we're supposed to be hit with freezing rain tomorrow. The high on Friday isn't supposed to get above freezing. Some schools south of here are already closed for Thursday and Friday (I'm in the Oklahoma City area). They haven't closed our campus yet, but I've been told there's a pretty good chance they will for Friday.

The snow isn't the problem. It's the ice. We just don't have the equipment like they do up North. Plus, they're not all that smart about winter weather down here. I used to live up in New York, then moved to Texas. I used to think they were crazy to close school for minimal snow and ice, but then I saw all the accident reports on the news. :scared: People down here just can't drive in it.

We are in the south, and if we had that kind of weather prediction, they would cancel school too. They don't want to have to worry about getting the kids home.:confused3

Better stock up on bread and milk before the stores sell out!

Our area (NC) is expecting snow Friday night and the roads were already all salted Wednesday, LOL. It doesn't take much for us to get excited. I had an hour between Job 1 and Job 2 yesterday and made sure I got to the grocery store to get things we needed(no milk, bread or eggs on the list;)) before the masses go crazy today. Forgot cat litter, but I can pick that up at the pets store I guess.

We are are right on the edge of the storm and expected to get an inch. Hopefully they do not cancel school.

school canceled here after they already left for school on the bus! It turned around and brought them back!
It's not snowing very hard here but the roads are horrible. They have not plowed at all yet. *this was unexpected I guess?

Really? I know we're close that's why I'm shocked. I haven't heard from DH yet so I guess school wasn't closed for us. Of course it's snowing like crazy here in NYC.

They haven't cancelled here yet, so we'll be driving to school and then driving to pick up the kids on the frozen roads in a couple of hours. I am not looking forward to it.

My kids would love to live where you are. In NYC, public schools never close! It has to be 12 feet or more before the schools close here.

That's what I love about the South.....all the fun of a snow day without the actual snow:rotfl2::rotfl2: I'll be surprised if they don't try and cancel here for tomorrow....there's a rumor about a wintry mix...that always gets people crazy.

I guess I'm a true Southerner now. When I first moved here I had a real yankee chip on my shoulder about snow but now I'm panicking and running to the grocery store with the best of em:rotfl::rotfl: Seriously, snow is only fun if you live somewhere that has the ability to remove it efficiently!!!

They delayed our school opening time last week due to a storm that would be coming in that morning. It did rain, but we didn't get the hail and all that was in the forcast. We did have high winds though. I guess they had rather be safe.

I went to all 16 years of school in NY and NEVER had a snow day! Here in Ga they cancel school if it FLURRIES! :lmao:

They haven't canceled school here yet but I'm sure they will tomorrow or if it starts some time today they will send them home...I HATE the cold so I wouldn't want to be in the north anyway but i do agree they cancel school here a lot for snow and people do NOT know how to drive on this stuff..I will tell you that I must be pretty good on it as one day I was at the dentist and by the time I got out it had about an inch or so..we I had to about an 45 min drive home and all around me people were in the ditch but I made it home with out so much of a slide!!! i was proud of myself...:goodvibes

We are in Ark. and I'm sure we'll get some of it!! :scared:

They finally made the decision to cancel school early this morning. I'm glad! It will be so much worse at 3 when I have to go to school to pick them back up. I'm in the TX panhandle and there is already a half inch of ice on the windows and it's snowing. They are saying 8-12 inches of snow. I'm just hoping that I don't have to drive across town tonight to try to get to work!
