They're Back! RE: LoveBugs!

Maybe since they were early this year they will go away early also. (Wishful thinking, I know.) Last year was the first time I really noticed them that badly, and my trip is the same time of the year this year.

I'm hoping with you! When are you going?

I heard nightmare stories of a man traveling to New Orleans with a trailer that practically turned black with all those little "hate bugs." (Seriously, I do not want to use the term "love" and "bug" in the same sentence.)

*crossing fingers* Please be gone by the end of the month... please be gone by the end of the month... please be gone...

I'm keepin' a close eye on this thread for updates. We'll be there in a week and I too will log on and post an update while we're there.

Saw my first lovebugs this weekend at the Disney Channel games. I saw four. Literally. Four lovebugs. That was it!

:earsboy:

We just got back this past Friday (5/2). We stayed offsite, but visited all of the parks more than once during our trip, and didn't enounter any huge swarms of lovebugs...the ocasional pair flying around doing what lovebugs do, but nothing to get upset over. I checked the front of our rental car each morning to see how many had splatted on it, but again, didn't find more than a couple each day.

Yes, we live in Louisiana and are subjected to the swarms twice a year. Some years are better than others. I've seen about 8 so far. We are leaving for WDW in 10 days - hope they aren't swarming then. Maybe this will be a light year

I've been at Epcot 3 or 4 times in the past week and I think I saw one or two pairs of them.

I spent the day in MK today. Sorry to report, they were pretty thick. They were much thicker than Epcot and Hollywood Studios last week. They were to the point that I saw many people batting them away.

Renting a car and going to Tampa Area next week. Guest I will find out about them, the hard way.

Just got back from Sea World. Saw about 5. I really wouldn't even notice them except I'm actually trying to find them. They really aren't bad at all from what I have experienced so far.

I would gladly trade lovebugs for all the mosquitoes, blackflies and wasps we get here!

Amen! :worship: We get gnat, or midgie hatches around here. They look like mosquitos, about the same size and all, but there are millions. You drive down the road, and you see smoke above the trees... turns out they are swarms rolling in off the lake.

Just as harmless... maybe we'll miss this years gnats, while we are dealing with lovebugs at disney next week. That would be good karma.

Okay folks where is my latest update? I'm leaving in 11 days and trying to get a true understanding of the current lovebug situation!!! Fill me in? PLEASE!

Left Atlanta on Saturday and returned home today. Hit a few bugs on the way down. Saw very few at any of the parks or hotel on the WDW property while there. Again saw very few on the way home today. They were not a problem at all.

Last year we were in WDW from May 18th to May 23rd and the love bugs were really bad in Epcot. They really seem to like white shirts.
In 2006 we were there from May 14th to the 19th and we did not see a single one.
I will be there on the 15th and I hoping that they will not be too bad.
