They're Back! RE: LoveBugs!

My hope is that they stay not as bad as usual for this whole season so I don't have to worry about them at all on my upcoming trip! Think disney could grant me that wish? :rolleyes1

OH NO!!!! that is miserable that is when I will be there...hope your prediction is WRONG!
I hope so, too!

I'm basing that on my experience with Luck. Stuff like this always gets worse the day I show up and I'm driving in next Friday and Saturday, so I figure that's when the little lovers will show up.

I don't actually mind the love bugs in general. But their little corpses on my car will be a pain in the butt. I don't even know where there are car washes - but I'm sure I'll find one. :)

Here's to hoping that I'm full of it!

Hello! My dd and I just got back today. Prior to our trip I had been very concerned about the lovebugs. We did not see any until Friday. On friday we saw one by room at ASMu, a couple by the hub in MK, and the Indy race way in MK. But.... they were not bad. There were no swarms and while my dd hates bugs (translate to read really really hates and is afraid of bugs!!) she handled these guys fine. We did see a couple today at the MK. Other than that we had no live sightings, We did see quite a few dead ones on our Magical Express bus.

I hope so, too!

OK Beans can I just say that everytime i come to this post (every few days or so) that little bug in your signature gets me every time!! I keep trying to smash it or flick it off my screen and then I go DOH! and realize that I fell for it AGAIN!!! Pathetic I know haha  :lmao:

I just drove up and back to St. Augustine. I have about 3 dead love bugs on the car so it isn't very bad at all.

Morning Guys.

For us Brit's does anyone have any pictures of these "Love Bugs".

We are travelling to the world for three weeks in October and I hear this can be a busy time for these creatures.

Just would'nt mind knowing what I'm looking out for !!!!

Just an update. We arrived today. We were at Universal today and I didn't notice any of them until I sat down for a long period of time (waiting for the kids on a ride I wouldn't ride), then I noticed a few. Like I said, if I weren't lookin' for them, I don't think I'd notice them and this comes from a person who has a major bug phobia. I'll let you know what the Disney parks are like.

Thanks Suzy. My phobia is also terrible so I appreciate these wonderful reports. I'll be there in 5 days! Hope your enjoying your trip!

They are back and my god in little swarms. I was just in my backyard with my puppy just playing and they are just everywhere but they like light colored things like my fence and my house. So you might see them attracted to light objects. I just hope they are not that bad at the parks for you folks but they are here at my house.

I was at Magic Kingdom and yesterday Aniaml Kingdom in the am and HS in the pm and didn't notice them at all. If they were there, we didn't see them.

suzy that is music to my ears! As my wait to arrive is getting closer and closer. I'm starting to stress less and less.

You won't seem to notice them too much until you drive for a distance (rather than walking) & they are all over the front of your car or RV. If you do get them on your vehicle here is a great secret~ use a fabric softner dryer sheet to wash them off! They have thinned out, but still here I am 2 hours away from Orlando.

We arrived home 2 days ago, and I was definitely worried about the lovebugs before our trip. (Especially after reading info here on the boards!) I was so glad to find that they could hardly be called a nuisance. Yes, we saw a bunch of them. But they didn't bother me, or my family, in the least (and I hate bugs!) They just fly around, occasionally land on you, and you simply swat them away. I just wanted everyone to know that they shouldn't be worried about a trip during Lovebug time! We hardly noticed them at all!

The whole love bug hype is ridiculous. I spent weeks prior to my trip agonizing over the potential of seeing these bugs at WDW.......all that stress for nothing. I saw a few sets here and there, but they just floated on by like a feather in the wind. I even left all my white clothing at home because I was told they like light colors. I did research about this bug online, I brought bug spray, and I feel like I wasted time and effort all for nothing. Now a bug to be scared about is the PALMETTO BUG. OMG........can anything even be worse?? We certainly don't have anything even remotely close to that one here in Wisconsin!

I was in Disney World last May and saw the love bugs (I was more curious about them than disgusted, as we don't have any bugs like them where I live) and I can honestly say that I've never seen a swarm of them like in that WDW bus stop picture on the love bug Wikipedia page. Maybe people who are more frightened of/disgusted by bugs notice them more than those who aren't? I've just never had any trouble with them. Occasionally they'll land on you, but they don't bite or pinch and they generally fly away when you start moving.

I'd rather see a swarm of love bugs than a swarm of house flies or mosquitos. I dunno, that's just my two cents. :confused3
