They're Back! RE: LoveBugs!

Well I will get to hear them next Saturday coming down from Atlanta. What areas of 75 were the worst? Last year as soon as we got on the turnpike in Wildwood, we hit a major swarm of them.

I noticed them the worst around Gainsville. They were probably swarming toward "The Gators".

Go Noles!!!

Does that mean if they come early they will leave sooner? We are heading down in on 9/19 and I am hoping they are gone!!!!!

Sorry...they have two seasons!! May and September. The date they arrive though varies...Last year they arrived at our resort on about 9/28-29. They were absolutely disgusting the day we left (9/30).

Hey, Peg, have you found that one brand of wiper washer fluid works better than another for getting their remains off the windshield?

I'm driving to Florida in a couple weeks. :) I don't really care about the car. It's a car. But I'd like to make as few stops to clean bugs off the window as possible. :)

I usually use the orange RainX stuff.

Wal Mart has Love Bug Remover with Wax. It is made by Gunk. We like this on our cars.

Spray a little PAM on the front of your car. They will slide right off. Not any good for the windshield though.

Returned today from WDW :sad1: and I saw a couple of couples- LOL!! They were few and far between tho. One day in MK, by where the Dole Whip place is there were swarms of flying termite things that were absolutely disgusting. They started about at Aladdin and went all the way along the path to Casey's. They were in our hair, faces, Dole Whips. They were NASTY!!

Well, they are pretty thick today. I mowed my yard and they were everywhere. I haven't been to WDW property today, but I am pretty close. Of course, they seem to swarm, so some places will be clear and others not.

Anyway you look at it, they are definitely here!

We have an invasion of them here is Southeast Texas, around the Houston area.... they are in full force...

We will be in Disney September 6-13. While these love bugs won't slow us down, (they were everywhere when we went in October 06), I wanted to know about what time do they seem to show in the fall season. Is it late August/early September, or is it late September/early October? I tried looking it up, but it only says September.

I was crossing my fingers that they would be really mild this year since I'm such a big baby about it! So will they progressively get worse? :sad2: I hate bugs

I just read to use WD-40 to get them off cars! Anyone else heard of or done this?

Hoping they're not bad in 2 1/2 weeks!!! LOL

They are thick around my house. I only noticed them in little clumps at DTD yesterday. I will be going to Epcot later today and I'll post an update when I return.

Thanks for keeping us updated! I've been watching this thread closely since my (adult) DD is not too thrilled with bugs. I don't mind seeing them, but it's not nice when they are all over your lounge chair at the pool !!

I'll be arriving on Saturday!
