<font color=navy>Well, I turned 43 this year (yikes!), and I noticed a couple of years ago that mentally I was starting to slip (hey, no wisecracks please :p)...

First it was my spelling - I was verrry meticulous about my spelling, and a couple of years ago, I noticed I accidentally started using homonyms - instead of their, I'd put they're, etc. -- weird. At least I was spelling right. :)

About the middle of last year, I noticed that I couldn't focus on text up close, (double yikes) and now I have to actually hold whatever I'm reading away from my eyes a little, whether or not I'm wearing my glasses. I'll probably have to get those transition glasses now, and I'M TOO YOUNG FOR THIS!!!

So, am I the only one out here who's noticed certain changes as I mature, or are there more of you out there?

I had to get glasses for the first time when I was 39. The eye doctor said it was AGE related. That made me feel real good! ;)

I hear ya Mary Jo!

...especially the eye thing. I have been holding off getting glasses. I've been doing the "hold newspaper up to nose to read, then hold newspaper at arms length to read"...you know...back and forth..trying to focus, lol.

I also notice that I don't have as much upper body strength as I used to.

I wear contacts for my far vision and having trouble reading the small print now. I will probably eventually get reading glasses.

If I don't write everything down...I totally forget about it!

I forget to pay bills, I forget my work schedule..(and I write my own schedule!) I keep telling myself it's because I have so much going on , but I really think it's those senior moments!

Just a public survice from your's truly. Plus it keps me from having to find the rite spot in my smooth bifocals to reed it...;)

ROTFLMBO!! Bernie!!!!!!

*note to self-think carefully before you tell Bernie anything.* ;) ;)

I've just noticed lately that I'm having more trouble reading the fine print. I have a magnifying glass for tiny print and I have reading glasses for doing cross stitch. My biggest thing is forgetting words while I'm talking to someone. Now this is embarrassing. I will completely forget the word I'm looking for. I'll end up remembering it much later. :(

LOL, Oldkicker!!!

When I was 39, the doctor would look up at me, smile and say, "Well, you're doing just great!".

At 41, the doctor looked at the charts and just says....."Hmmmmm....."

I stopped going to the doctor.

Mary Jo,

My mom keeps telling me it has nothing to do with her eyes, it's that her arms are not long enough!!! lol

Debbie

Don't get me started with forgetting things....I'm a pro at that!!
My eyes are still fine but if you saw me taking my first steps in the morning you would swear I'm 85 years old, I'm holding on to everything.
My friend once told me, once you hit 35 you start going down the hill, heck , she never told me you go down that fast!! ;)

I gave up wearing my contacts about a year ago - had to get those darn bifocals and while wearing the contacts - the reading glasses were just much of a headache

Welcome to the club MJ

ROFL Bernie

and I have learned to double read everything I post NOW!

But I wonder if you know the power of the Techerita?

May Jo, I have worn glasses since I was 10 or so. I started out with bifocals, then just distance. A few years ago, back to bifocals, like I was 44 or so, maybe less. Two years ago, I switched to no line (or Progressive) bifocals. I will never go back. They let me read my reading stuff at the right area, my distance is perfect, and best of all, the computer screeen. It used to be too far for the reading part and too close for the distance, but now, I have the little middle area, and all is perfect. Plus, no one knows that they are bifocals, cause they don't have that little moon in them.

It;s ok to get older, I am really looking forward to my 50th in about 6 weeks!!!!!

nope...I am not 40 yet, so I am absolutely perfect :p :p

In that case, that makes two of us , right Glo??

OOOOOOOOOHHHH!!!!! Don't get me started. Bad eyesight is the #1 thing I hate about getting older! (Well, so far. No telling what else is in store  )

Have you noticed yet that even WITH glasses you can't see really small print unless the lighting is very bright? That's what burns my cookies!!!

Has anyone tried the bifocal contacts? I'm thinking of trying these next time I go to the eye dr. and just wondered how hard they are to get used to.

When I was about 41 or so, my eyes actually improved when I went to the eye doctor. :) I was thrilled until she said it's age related. :( I can't read with my glasses anymore. I actually see the words better without them. Go figure! I've been wearing glasses since first grade. I really do need to get a pair of reading glasses I think. My current glasses are okay for distance.

Yup, the pull the paper in, push it out. Great exercise for the arms. LOL! I had trouble reading the phone number for my pharmacy on a box the other day. It better start dawning on me to lift up my glasses so I can read it! It amazes me how small print looks now through my glasses.

Less upper body strength? Wow, am I glad to hear that! Hee hee...sorry. We had a fitness assessment in my health class last summer. My upper body strenth was practically non-existent in my book. I've been taking vitamins since, and it really seems to make an improvement.

Eyesight is the first to go. Mine went at 7! LOLOL!!!
