Hello MAYers!

Sorry about the roof damage Katie. Hopefully it won't cost a fortune to fix.

Nope, I've never used that kind of paint RF. I use Benjamin Moore and love it!

Congrats on the airfare credit Huggie! :cool1:

That stinks about the car rental prices JO. Everything just keeps going up. Airfare is outrageous anymore. I couldn't tell you the last time I have seen a Ding between PIT and MCO. :confused3 And I used to get them all the time. We are considering the possibility of driving to WDW in November.:eek::eek:

Glad Garry is doing better this morning.:thumbsup2

That's awful about the dings--- airfare is just pretty much ridiculous nowadays. SW is still $142 pp each way for my May trip, Airtran is still $79/$69- hasn't changed since I bought it- so I guess that's good news.

Driving--- :faint:................;):rotfl: You can dooooo it!!!

RF---- you can always book a car -- it doesn't require a cc payment- and then cancel if you get something better or don't need it.:upsidedow

Jo

I'm telling you - I think AT is the way to go anymore.

I would always hear people rave about SW and how cheap they are and I have NEVER got a good rate with them  I am pricing AT now for Sept and they just released 2 weeks before my flight at $74 pp each way.

So for me, Bob and Casey it will only be $500!!! :woohoo: (Plus the baggage fees... which sucks... but whatever)

I'm booking as soon as they release my dates!

And I think I am going to start looking into the rental car NOW. Thanks Jo!

I did the brushed suede in my bedroom. It wasnt too bad but when you want to repaint it is a pain in the :scared1::scared1::scared1:.
Do you have any red rooms in the house. I have done red in my living room and the only thing about red rooms is that you will have to do at least 3 coats. Red is not forgiving. I hope I didnt scare you. :rolleyes1

Yikes. :scared1: Thanks Huggie... No, I don't have any red rooms in my house at all. I am a little nervous to use it.

I also was thinking about using the suede in my bedroom first to see if we even like it and then if we do trying it downstairs. I was thinking about doing a chocolate brown on the bottem with a chair rail and then doing a beige on top and then carrying it on my ceiling because my ceilings are curved... But I don't know what to do yet.....

I don't think the suede will work on the ceiling.

So, I think I may see if there's any leftover neutral paint from when the old owners painted the house - use that on the ceilings and then do the suede on the bottems...

Ugh.

We'll see.

Wish me luck... This will probably be NEXT weekends project. :yay:

I think AT is going to be the way to go too. *IF* we can get the $74 flights. That seems to be the cheapest they are offering. But you have to add $15 onto each ticket for baggage fees. So then it's more like $89 each way, which is not great compared to what I have always paid. But is still better than the SW rates.

Oh my :faint:

oooh the drive back would be AWFUL, once vacation is over and everyone is tired.

I got good prices for SW a couple of times, but supposedly they had a contract for fuel that was really inexpensive that ran out a few years ago and since then it's gone sky high.

RF- check out all the codes on Mousesavers for a car rental. I used Alamo and used the upgrade code that's good until December- then I used the Mastercard contract id as well. See if those will work for you.

And oooh- I like chocolate brown for your walls.:thumbsup2

Morning!

Hi Lake!

Shelly-- welcome back to the wonderful world of gainful employment~:cool1:
Hope your first day is great.:goodvibes

The MAYers miss you already!!:flower3:

Hey Mayers! Wassup?

I have been at a conference and convention the last couple of days.

Did you miss me? :rotfl2:

Sea

I was just saying over my cup of coffee this morning that you had deserted us!

Glad you're back now Sea!

That's exactly what I am thinking.

Shelly- So glad DH is doing well.

Good Morning Everyone!

Thanks Lake! He is at his first physical therapy session right now. :scared:

Sea

Of course we missed you Sea!

So we are battening down the hatches for a blizzard. Supposed to start tomorrow and we may get up to 12 inches of snow. Sooooooo not good.

Shelly- hope your day was a success.:goodvibes

Jo - Really? 12 inches of snow!!! I haven't heard the weather today.

Shelly - Glad your hubby is doing well. Hope PT went well too!

KB - Hope things with your roof go well and cheap!

Sea - Welcome back! How was your convention?

RF - I haven't used the type of paint you mentioned. My kitchen is a chocolate brown and when you use a dark color like that, it does often take extra paint.

Lake - Are you ready for the Olympics? Do you have any more olympic festivities?

Huggie - How's the trip planning?

Mari - How's school?

I am still proofing this cookbook. Everytime I think this is my final proof, I find errors. :scared1: I may not ever be finished.

My Toyota is part of the recall.

My kids got their braces adjusted today.

Hmmm.... I can't even think of what else I have going on.

 I'm not sure we can do it!!

I think the drive down would be fine. It's the drive back that would be the killer. :scared:

Yep, the drive back is the hardest for me. Our drive down to DL is about 7 - 8 1/2 hours, depending on traffic (we try to time it so we are coming in to LA at the least busy time of day -- this time we should be getting in about 10:00 pm or so). We've pulled an all night drive and hit the park first thing in the morning, but that's hard -- close to impossible with kids, even if they slept in the car, and then you run the risk of being Zombie Mom all day  But even with a long drive down, at least it's fun and exciting...the drive back, knowing you are leaving magic, and going back to the everyday grind is really hard.

I really liked flying when I went down to DL with my son last September, but there are additional costs involved that just added up too much. If we can't get a ride to the airport, we have to pay for a shuttle, then pay for a shuttle when we are down there to get to DL from the airport. A car rental for a car that will just sit in the parking lot there (we don't usually leave Disney property), is just a waste of $ for us.

Speaking of $, the roof repair guy never showed up  So now I have to call some others. At least it didn't rain yesterday.

Mom is doing okay, but not very happy. She doesn't want to live in a board and care, she keeps saying she wants to go live on her own somewhere. But it's just not possible, and the doctor -- and nurses, and physical therapist, and occupational therapist, and everyone at the stroke rehab facility -- all agree it's not safe. She can't cook anymore, she is unsteady when she walks, she needs help showering (although she's cranky about that and doesn't want help). Heck, she can't even figure out how to change the CD in her CD player, or find the TV station she wants to watch. :sad2: And unfortunately, she can't afford live in help 24x7, which is what she needs. Even someone just 4 hours a day 5 days a week would run a minimum of $1600 a month -- and then what about the other 20 hours every day, and the other 2 days a week? :headache: I love her, and I'm trying to keep her safe and healthy -- I just wish I could make her happy, too.

KB - Sorry the roof guy was a no show. I haven't that happen. :sad2: Yuck! And then I always think, isn't the economy supposedly bad? I can't even get someone out to my house that I would be happy to pay to take of my problem. :confused3 I don't get it.

Bless your heart. I know you want to make your mom happy, but it is so hard to deal with situation. Then if I were her, I am sure I wouldn't want somebody helping me take a shower, etc. I know it's hard for you both. You are in my prayers!

Hello MAYers!

How's everyone doing today?

Did you get 12 inches of snow JO? We got a few inches over night, but nothing major.

DH is a little sore from PT, but is getting around pretty well.

Work is going okay. It's nothing great. I guess that's why they call it work!

Hey KB! Sorry to hear about your mom and all the hard decisions you have to make. Been there - done that - you have my sympathy and encouragement. I know you will be making the best decisions because you will do it out of love and care for her. Hugs! Sea

I'm sorry you are going through this KB. I know you are making the best decisions for her, but I'm sure it's so hard.
