Hey there Shelly. We are having a nice sunny day here in SM. Glad to hear your husband is getting around OK.

Going to another seminar tonight. Thankfully it is at local hotel and that it won't going on for hours on end.

Sea

Hello MAYers!

How's everyone doing today?

Did you get 12 inches of snow JO? We got a few inches over night, but nothing major.

DH is a little sore from PT, but is getting around pretty well.

Work is going okay. It's nothing great. I guess that's why they call it work!

Afternoon everyone!

KB--- hugs to you and prayers for your poor Mom. That is such a hard place to be in, wanting to help her in the best way and her not being happy. I'm so very sorry. I'll be praying for all of you.

Shelly-- hey there Working Girl!:goodvibes Our snow hasn't gotten here yet?!:confused3 If you look at the radar it it thisclose to us and they are still calling for some serious weather. First it's gonna rain then immediately turn to freezing rain then snow on top. They say we could get an inch of ice and that people will most likely lose power. ugh. I just got back from the store and there's no bottled water left at all! I keep telling Mark we need to make ressies at a local hotel in case anything happens-- we've been thru ice storms in Rochester before. Not fun. I rather like eating and oh, the finer things in life like- a hot shower and heat.

NC--- Are you guys supposed to get any of this stuff???

Hi Sea--- I'm jealous of the sun.:goodvibes Hope your seminar goes well.

Hello to all other MAYers!!

If I lose power tonight- it may be a few days before I can post- hopefully my battery will be good long enough that I can give you guys an update.

Jo - Really? 12 inches of snow!!! I haven't heard the weather today.

Shelly - Glad your hubby is doing well. Hope PT went well too!

KB - Hope things with your roof go well and cheap!

Sea - Welcome back! How was your convention?

RF - I haven't used the type of paint you mentioned. My kitchen is a chocolate brown and when you use a dark color like that, it does often take extra paint.

Lake - Are you ready for the Olympics? Do you have any more olympic festivities?

Huggie - How's the trip planning?

Mari - How's school?

My kids are excited about the olympic games. My sister and her family are actually going, and have tickets for the opening ceremonies, several events, and are staying in Whistler for a week. If I had the $$$$$$$$$$ I would go with them. A great experience it will be I'm sure.

Ethan's teacher and I are doing a 2 week long Olympic unit with the Grade 2 class. I am really excited!

No snow here...but its VERY VERY VERY COLD!!! Yes, I know the Winter lovin' girl that I am, I usually handle it all well. But with the cold and the strong wind today all I can say is...FLORIDA ANYONE!!!!:lmao:

My dad got back from Orlando yesterday. He said the weather had been mild - in the 70's. Cold at night though. They are expecting rain and thunderstorms Saturday though.

Me! Me! Me!!!!

I am DOWN with Florida!!!!!!!:goodvibes

Me too! :yay: I just keep looking out the window saying -- 9 months, 1 week, 2 days. . . . . :faint:

We are getting some snow, not a ton. But man is it windy and cold. :cold:

OH NO! I hope you don't lose power. That is the worst!

Rain, freezing rain, and snow -- not a good combo. :sad2:

My dad got back from Orlando yesterday. He said the weather had been mild - in the 70's. Cold at night though. They are expecting rain and thunderstorms Saturday though.

I'm glad he had nice weather. I've been watching it since Kim is there. (well actually I watch it all the time! :rotfl:)Looks like she's had a decent week weather wise. Much warmer than it was down there a few weeks ago anyway!

One of the other Snowbirds was checking in from WDW and saying it was crowded. I hope Kim didn't run into much of that.

Good morning MAYers! :goodvibes

Would anyone like to guess where is is a sunny 54 degrees morning??? Nope, not here. Yep, Orlando. Kind of depressing when it is a whole 1 degree here this morning.

But hey, so snow/rain or anything else. so I can't complain. Too much. :rotfl:

How bad did it get JO? Hope you didn't lose power.

DH is at PT this morning. We are going to go to lunch this afternoon.

We have ice falling this morning. School has been cancelled. DH went to work. He didn't have any trouble making it in to the office. He did take my car. It has 4 wheel drive.

How much did you guys get?

How fun for your sister. That would be awesome. I am sure it costs some major $$$$ to go Whistler during the Olympics.

Is your unit going to be more of a history of the Olympics or more current events?

We have been looking at going on a cruise Spring Break. We are talking about driving down to Galveston to leave from that port.

Royal Carribean has a cruise that week as well as Carnival. They stop in different ports.

Royal Carribean - Departs From Galveston, Texas visiting Roatan (Isla Roatan), Bay Islands, Honduras; Costa Maya, Mexico; Cozumel, Mexico

Link for this cruise:

Carnival - Departs From Galveston, Texas visiting Montego Bay, Jamaica; George Town, Grand Cayman; Cozumel, Mexico

Link for carnival cruise:
http://www.cruisesonly.com/sc.do?ta...mniRates=false&IncludeSeniorRates=false&dsc=y

Yesterday the price for a suite per person on the carnival cruise was $400 more each. Today, the prices are the same.

Is cruising more about the boat or about the ports?

Which of these ports are more fun?

I think the Royal Carribean ship looks like it might be more fun. It has an ice skating rink. Go figure! :confused3 But then the Carnival ship looks fun too.

I think we want at least the balcony level room. Probably two rooms, one for the kids and one for us.

DH's sister just got back from the Royal Carribean cruise and the week they went they stopped at the same ports that are offered for the week we are looking at. They were on the same boat we would be on. It was their first cruise in 20 years. They had a balcony room and loved it. Their son is grown, so they didn't have the kid factor to consider.

Help! I need some input!!!

Sea has been helping me some, but Sea I need more help.

Morning from the frozen tundra of Arkansas!!!:goodvibes

When I went to get the kids from the bus stop yesterday it started sleeting and IMMEDIATELY my lower deck froze with a sheet of ice. Not good. This morning the snow is blowing like crazy and we just had a limb fall out of a tree in our back yard hitting our privacy fence knocking a board off of it. Grrrrrrrrr. Of course everything is cancelled and Mark just went in to work- took my car with the 4 wheel drive.
It's supposed to snow like this all day. I feel like I'm in PGH.:goodvibes

Shelly- have fun on your lunch date! :lovestruc How fun that you guys can do that while the kids are in school. Hope all goes well for your DH at PT.

NC--- I've only been on a Carnival cruise. It is party central. Lots of bars, lots of drunk young people. If I ever went on a cruise again it would most likely be Royal Caribbean-- my In laws have cruised with them countless times and love the suites they have with the balcony. What do the two cruise lines offer for the kids? Is there a big difference? I'd go with RC, but that's just my opinion b/c of my experience with Carnival. You have to remember it's Spring Break and there will be tons of teens/young people around.

Hello to everyone---- off to update my PTR!

Thanks NC! Yes, he is off this week and next. We will find out on Wednesday when he can go back. He is hoping the week after next.

So is that 2 weeks? Wow!! That's a lot. Hope he has a great PT today. I guess you are his driver for the week. :goodvibes

RC has ice skating, in-line skating, mini golf course, arcade, rock climbing wall, and teen areas as well as pools. It also has a tween and teen areas. I think the age range is 12 - 14, which would be perfect because DS and DD could go to the same teen club. DS will hate that, but I will feel better about it.

Carnival has mini golf, arcade, teen club with the ages of 12-14 too. They also have a water slide.

DD will skate and rock climb. She will also swim. In fact, I think she would rock climb everyday if possible. DS will not skate or climb. He will play mini golf. Who knows about swimming.

NC- The Olympic Unit will be about these olympics. The atheletes and different countries, we are having sports days, and country days, and keeping track of medal counts. The kids are all choosing a canadian athelete to follow. Is been fun so far , the planning anyways.

Hey NC - Looked over the links. The Carnival ship was recently remodeled in 2009 and I really like the port stops. The Royal Caribbean ship built in 1999 no recent changes to it, but it looks well kept up. The port stops are good, however, Roatan is a third-world experience. Did you see my pictures?

I agree with Jo - Carnival Criuses are well known as the "party" ships.

To us, cruising is about being able to detach from cares and contact from the outside world. No cell phones, no distractions, - relax, sleep, enjoy and explore the ship and experience new things. And being able to visit three countries in seven days and only unpacking only once is a plus in my book.

I really like how each child will follow an athelete. I am sure it will be loads of fun for them.

Sea, thank you for looking up to see when the ships were refurbished. I'll mention that to my husband. I am not sure he has thought this thru. No cell phones? What about Wi-Fi or 3G? Internet? That boy is working even when he is on vacation.

Going back to look at your pictures. I thought that was one of your ports but I couldn't remember. I tried to find your pics this morning, but was interupted by the kids. Will look for them now.
