we were at ralph's eating our italian ices in the car, while listening to the radio. my friend was flipping through his presets, and landed on 96.3, which should be WQXR - classical music. however, it was pop. we got really confused and thought maybe they'd been bought out. but after the song, the commercials came on - commercials for CAPE COD BUSINESSES. um ok. so we listened some more, and then the station identified itself as 96.3 - the rose. it was a cape cod station!! we had perfect reception of it so we were soo confused. we listened to it for the rest of our ices, then as we were backing out of our parking space, it fuzzed out and back to classical! we laughed so hard about it. my friend went back into the space, and the pop music came back on... back and forth the little bmw went, and it kept on switching between classical and pop! we were roaring with laughter.

it was just so weird... perfect reception from a radio station that's like, 300 miles away, but if you moved the car a single foot, you got prefect reception from the local station! has this ever happened to anyone?

Bwahahaha. Reverse - Forward - Reverse - Forward.

Your friend must have looked like he was learning how to drive.

AHHHHHHHHHHHH I LOVE THE ROSE!!!!!!!!!!!! THATS MY STATION :) :) :)
the first thing i thought when i read 96.3...i was like hey thats the rose..lol

LOL actually, that's happened to me before with the Rose. I've picked it up in Connecticut - it was pretty weird. My dad said it had something to do with the station traveling over water?

This has happened to me before.....with a Mustang I had....
there is a certain bidge over I-95 in Stamford, CT that if I parked in the exact spot I could recieve a radio station from Charlotte, NC!!! :earseek: And like you've described...move the car a foot either way and it was lost.

Try as I might, I could never pull in the station with any other car

While driving on the NJ Turnpike going down to the shore this weekend, we had 2 stations playing at the same time. My kids were cracking up!!! One station had Shania Twain singing and another had a classic rock song. Just for about one mile.

BTW SPAGo...were you at the original Ralph's? Across the street from Denino's? I grew up on Ralph's ices. Have you ever tried LaRocca's ices? They are also very good. :)

Mmm, well that never happened at MY Ralphs, but I have been known to stay there for lengthy amounts of time, its more like the bremuda triangle!

I LOVE Ralphs, mmm sooo yummy! You know summers near when you start frequenting Ralphs at night again. :)

Deb, we weren't at the original one (where is that, SI?). we went to the new on up in huntington by jericho tpk. :) it just opened recently.

Yup...it's in good old Staten Island. My best friend in grammar school lived a block away from it. We would spend our summer nights there.

I can't believe how big it has grown...everywhere we go we see signs for it. Is it sold fresh by you, or is it pre-packaged?

I frequently get the connecticut stations while driving along the North Shore, but I've never gotten weird radio reception on THAT stretch of Jericho! I'll have to test it out the next time we get a craving for Ralph's.
