There won't really be horses at SSR, will there?

Did anyone else get the Vacation Magic issue and look at the included poster? Each of four squares on the poster shows guests in some activity at the resort --sitting in the sun, walking on the grounds, watching the fireworks. Well, the top left square features a man casually walking his horse around an SSR pathway.

For illustrative purposes only, I'm sure!

Doubtful, but they did have them for Open House (followed by a man with a pan and broom to scoop up poop.)

I doubt they will have them at SSR. In the past you could ride horses at Fort Wilderness but I don't know if they still have them.

They still have horseback riding at FW. The stables are right in the front of the resort, near the bus stops.

Horses are a large part of the themeing of the resort. There's a carousel horse in the center of the lobby and pictures of the Disney movie horses on the walls. But did not see any horse paths on the tour of the property.

A horse back riding arena would be very true to the theme. I like the idea!

Even though there won't be horses at the resort, it's hard to imagine anything to do with Saratoga without including a lot of horse references. That one square on the poster makes the resort seem a lot more realistic (especially to those of us who grew up near the real track at Saratoga). The paddock area at the real Saratoga is outdoors under some beautiful trees and that square on the poster makes you think of that area.

Well I can say they had horses there today. They were in the founder's day parade however. There are no plans at this point to bring in any kind of live horse function as a regular thing. I did ask. Doesn't mean at some point this might not change.

I think having horse will equal a large increase in insurance.

I know the horse in the illustration is totally in the spirit of SSR, but I am not expecting horses and wasn't even suggesting it by the original post. I just thought it was odd to make the suggestion of horses being at the resort in the poster. Kind of made me chuckle a bit.

But, after reading some of these posts, maybe there would be room somewhere, not necessarily for trails, but for a for-fee riding ring. My son used to take lessons, and most of his training was at an indoor ring.

With professional trainers and good horses, I don't think liability is that huge. Horses have very specific personalities and only certain horses could live such a life. In my experience, they're actually pretty predictable.
