There is NO random dancing at Disney! A June TR *NEW 9/19 *FINAL THOUGHTS*

After a surprisingly good night's sleep, considering we'd done little but sit on our heinies all day, we got up, had breakfast in the hotel and were on the road by 8:00. Today the travel fatigue set in. I'm so glad we decided to drive as far as we could on Day #1! Ian began asking at every pit stop, "Is this Disney World?", and the girls asked how many more hours so often I started to dream about pulling over for the Benadryl.

We stopped at the Florida Visitors Center for the obligatory cup of o.j., got a tiny bit turned around because somebody was a little preoccupied with an episode of The Office:rolleyes1, but soon were seeing Orlando signs.

I tortured the kids by stopping at Walmart for water, fruit, yogurt and milk which had to go in the back seat so all three kids were sitting together for the last little bit and they were loud and crazy! Here’s a picture of the kids when we saw the 6 miles to WDW sign:

Finally, we drove under the holy grail of signs:

Directions to the resorts were very easy to follow and by 1:30 we had pulled up in front of the Beach Club! Ahhh..:cloud9: A gentleman walked up to the car and asked if we were checking in. He said, "There's no guarantee that your room will be ready but happy thoughts help." He began helping George unload the car while I went to check in. I walked up to the front doors and another gentleman asked if I was checking in and my name. I told him and he escorted me to the front desk and presented me to the CM, saying, “This is Mrs. E and she is checking in with her family.” With all of the attention I felt a little like a princess, which is the perfect way to start out a vacation in a place with a castle.princess:

The happy thoughts must have worked because our room was ready! I went out to tell the clan and found our car already unloaded, so George went to park and then met the kids and I in the lobby. Everyone was sufficiently impressed. It smelled wonderful, and managed to feel both relaxed and “beachy” and magnificent at the same time. I could tell we were going to love it here.

We walked to our room, 2532 and let me tell you, it was a haul! I don’t think it would be possible to be any further from the lobby. George and I disagree on whether the location was good for our family. I think closer to the lobby, Marketplace and SAB would have been preferable, but he loved the quiet, our view and the proximity to Epcot. We could walk out the back door and be in Epcot in literally 5 minutes. It would be a perfect F&W Festival location! I can't complain though, since I was the one to request a full balcony and I did enjoy the view. I snapped these pictures of our room before the family descended upon it.

Our full balcony, handy for drying swim suits, but not inviting in the heat of Florida summer.

Our view of the woods next to the International Gateway.

These pictures are a little cockeyed. I think I was in a hurry to get photos before my clan made themselves too thoroughly at home.

After Bell Services brought up our luggage, we had a decision to make. Should we swim or head to Epcot before we had to get ready for our dinner ADR at Chef Mickey's?

Next post: Day #1 Decision time

I am so staying there one day. :cloud9:

Love the room and that Mickey lamp is adorable. I love the small Disney touches like that.

Ooh, that Mickey lamp caught my eye, too!! :

The room looks gorgeous!

After that long ride, I would have voted for a family swim in SAB... do great minds think alike??

I'm in!

BC! I'm so excited. I really really want to stay at BC. Well in our case BCV....we are just too big! But....much as I want it....THV "fits" the crew better for the next trip. I kept trying to make BCV fit and it was like the prince putting the shoe on the stepsister. So I'll have to figure out a way to do BC some other time!

I can't wait to read about it! And SAB!!!!!

Waffle House. I :lovestruc Waffle House!

No Waffle Houses up here....I have to go to FL to get me some! Yum!!!!!!!!

Hi! Yes, choices for families of 5 are limited and for families of 6 or more are very limited. If you ever get the chance, try the BC though. We loved it.

I soooo want to stay at the Beach Club. We stayed at the YC when I was in HS, but the Beach Club is more relaxing and I like the Decor. Tough decision right away...

The BC room renovations were done recently and I think they did a great job! Those beds were sooo comfortable too! I think our great minds may have been on the same wavelength.;)

OOH what a gorgeous room and YAY for it being ready for you!! I would love to stay at BC someday!!! Well you made it...can't wait to see what you guys decided to do next!

We stayed there in January of 2008 and the rooms have definitely been redone...at least the daybed is very different for sure! Cute little Mickey lamp is the same though! We loved the BC for it's closeness to Epcot and SAB...isn't it just wonderful?? You guys got a great balcony. Ours was just a walkout thingie.

Wellllll, Epcot or SAB? It's a win/win situation! My guess is Epcot, but hmmmm maybe not, if the kids got a look at SAB.......:goodvibes

That hotel is so beautiful! We spent a little time walking around it while trying to get into Beaches & Cream and we thought that even the hallways were cute, especially the little number plates w/ the shells next to the doors. We were wondering what the rooms looked like, so thank you for posting pictures! I bet it was nice to have the balcony, just so you felt like you had another "room" to go to. You are so brave to drive that distance w/ 3 kids! Of course, if your kids are well behaved (which it sounds like yours are), it helps a lot.

I'd vote for Epcot. The kids for SAB. DH would defer to wherever the closest beer was at that point in the day lol.

I can't wait to see pics of SAB! Your room looks lovely.

Now THAT'S what it's all about! Awesome picture! :goodvibes

It's almost like the angels start singing isn't it?? :rotfl:

A 5 minute walk to Epcot sounds great to me! It's always a toss-up though..close to "stuff" or privacy and quiet.

Nice....as a family of 5, we are going to need to rethink our options for next trip. POR will only hold us for so long!

Swim would be my vote! Can't wait to hear more! :surfweb:

The Holy Grail of Signs!!! Love it!!! :lmao::rotfl::rotfl2:

How nice to be showered with so much attention and have your room ready! That is the perfect way to start the vacation!

What a gorgeous room!!! I just love it! Now I really want to stay at the Beach Club one day! :lovestruc

The kids look so cute excited to get closer to Disney! I love the room and it was nice to have that attention upon arrival! Great way to start a vacation!

Loved the pics from BC. We ate at Cape May and DH loved the resort. HMM?? Was that the plan???:rolleyes1 Could a 5'6" adult sleep on the day bed???

BTW, I would have voted for EPCOT! Anything to get to a park.

Love the picture of the kids in the car! Too cute. They look super excited.

Room looks gorgeous! I am so going to stay there someday.
