Question about "chair saving" by the pool? It will be just me and ds- no extra eyes from dh this trip to watch our son. And I remember that the water parks and during a recent cruise that chair saving is an issue--- IS this a problem at this resort? it always happens to some extent but is it excessive at the WL?
Jill

We have never had a problem with finding a chair - even our choice of chairs at the WL - even in the busy pool month of July :goodvibes This resort is small so it doesn't seem to have the pool issues that other resorts do :goodvibes

I am here now, at the WL, on the Club Level, if anyone has any questions or if you want any specific pictures. Very different experience here over our stay the last three days at the Yacht Club Concierge level.

I would love to know what you mean by 'very different experience' if you have the chance :goodvibes We check into the WL one week from today :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Thanks for the answer on the activities question Beckie!:goodvibes

My DD would looooooove the kite making. Hopefully we will get a chance to do that.

Looking Forward To Hearing About Your Club Level Experience At WL:goodvibes :goodvibes

Hi Everyone~

Great thread, it has made me very excited to be staying at the WL in August. I have a question about room request.... I am booked for a courtyard view bunk bed room and my husband is a smoker. He in the the process of quitting (down to under half a pack a day from over a pack a day) but I am pretty sure he will still be smoking when we are there in August (as much as I would love for him to be cigarette free..... it is a process, I understand.)

SO, does anyone have a recommendation for an area to request? Are there courtyard view bunk bed rooms on the first floor near the pool? I have read that there is a DSA near the pool. Also, I am pretty sure that the answer is no, but do they allow smoking on the balconies?

Hopefully he will have completely quit by then and it won't be an issue, but thanks for any input in case!

From page 1:

As of June 1, 2007 all rooms at WDW are Non-Smoking.
Disney's Wilderness Lodge and The Villas @ Disney's Wilderness Lodge is a smoke-free environment except for designated outdoor smoking locations. A $250-$500 room recovery fee, plus tax, will be charged for smoking in guest rooms, balconies or on patios.

Designated Smoking Locations:
There are two designated smoking locations at Wilderness Lodge, and one location for the Villas.

The main DSA is located on the south side of the Lodge outside behind the Arcade, exit through the doors near the Mercantile Gift Shop the smoking area is just past the Buttons and Bells Arcade on the right.

The second DSA is located on the patio behind the Trout Pass Pool Bar next to Bay Lake.
(This DSA is behind the Bar not all that near to the Pool but it isn't covered and during August the heat can be oppressive.)

The DSA at the Villas is located outside behind Sturdy Branches Health Club, near the rear door.

So no :sad2: please don't let him smoke on the balcony or patio.

I would want near the main lobby elevators, South side of the Lodge any floor, short trip down to 2nd floor and out the side door near the Mercantile to the DSA.

You may add near DSA to your room request.

Good Luck,
Beckie

Hi, I'm curious about something and hope you might be able to help me. A few days ago I received a call from the Wilderness Lodge (caller ID said Contemporary) and I was able to make some of my ADR's early (our official day is July 5)- and the rest went on a wish list. I called Disney Dining today to confirm, and sure enough, they are there and the ones from the wish list are being made for me. I mentioned this on the boards and people were asking me if I was staying at club level. I have no idea what club level is and if we are staying at it. We're a family of 6 staying a deluxe room in Jan. 2009.

TIA! :lovestruc

If you have booked a Deluxe Room yes ::yes:: you are booked Club Level or what Disney use to call Concierge Level. This includes the IPO (Personal Itinerary Planner) is part of the service that you receive when staying Club Level. Which means they will make all your ADR's all you have to do is request what you want through them.

For more information on staying Club Level please see the first post on page 1.

Oh ok, yes, I received the IPO via e:mail already. I didn't really understand what it was, or that it was club level per se, if that makes sense. I will check out the first post.

thanks- and thanks earthelves as well! :thumbsup2

Minnie,

Sorry...but have to disagree with you about the chair saving at the main pool. Both our visits to the WL I thought this was a problem. It was obvious that some folks would but stuff down on chairs in the morning and not return until later in the day.

From reading other posts, however, I think the lifeguards at many of the resort pools are removing items from chairs if it looks like they are just being saved by people.

Maybe we can get some more thoughts from others that have recently returned from the WL???

Just back from a wonderful 6 day stay at WL club level, it was wonderful as usual, oh and we could see wishes evry night from our room (7046) If anyone has questions I will be happy to try to answer them

question - is there a way to get villa rooms without points? I'm interested in a studio - can you get it straight from disney w/o renting. also, what are the prices - and with free dining, is it still a possibility? thanks!

You ::yes:: may book a Studio direct from WDW without renting from a DVC member just call CRO.

The rates for a studio start at $315.00 +tax a night during value season-to-$480.0 +tax a night during the Holiday season.

I believe that the time period for booking a package with Free Dinning ended June 22, 2008. :confused3

I never see anyone mention experiences here--- good, bad or otherwise...so has anyone used the facilties or services? I would love a massage but so much more $$ than at home... kwim?? which is funny as I am already spending so much on this vacation--- what is one more thing??

OK.... I have pretty much decided that my room request will be for a ground floor room, but I am hesitant to give up a balcony for a patio. Does anyone know for sure if there are any courtyard view bunkbed rooms on the first floor close to the pool? And hopefully to the DSA near the pool? I don't know what I want to do.... DH is a smoker and I want to get him close to a DSA, and I think just walking out of my room and being close to the pool would be wonderful, but when I think of my room at the WL I just envision having a balcony.

Maybe I will just be crazy and make no request at all and see what fate gives me?!?!?!?

I am very interested in hearing recent feedback on the WL club level too. Any and all details are much appreciated!

And now a question about room requests, we are booked into a deluxe room. Do any of those rooms come with Wishes views? For those who have stayed in them (or just those in the know) what would you suggest requesting as far as area/level of the resort for a room request? :confused3

Thanks so much!!:thanks: :thanks:

Maybe you could request a 1st fl, inner courtyard, near a DSA? You have pd for bunkbeds so do not have to worry about that. The patios are very nice. Do not think you'd be disappointed as everything would be so handy and your hubby could walk over to a DSA without having to take an elevator.

We were hoping for a patio but due to needing an accessible room they put us on an upper floor, inner courtyard, south wing, with connecting rooms. Hoping we'll be surprised and can see EWP from the balcony, even if looking to the side. Fingers crossed ::yes::

Fingers crossed for you too!! :thumbsup2

I would love to hear feedback, too. :)

We are currently booked for one night in a one-bedroom at VWL (we move to BCV for the rest of our Christmas trip the next day), and are thinking maybe it's a waste of space/money for one night. We've stayed in all 3 villa types at VWL, but have only stayed one night at the WL, back in 2001 (and before the renovation).

So now we're thinking of just staying in the Lodge itself, and can't decide if we should to save a little money and try something different. If we do, then our choice is a courtyard view or spending the $124 more for a concierge room.

Any opinions would be welcome!

Also, I went through the bulk of the thread and didn't see any recent info about Ranger Stan. I know I'd heard he planned to retire, but wasn't sure if he actually had or not. He told us back in '01 that he was considering retiring, but obviously that didn't happen! ;)

TIA! :goodvibes
