The Wilderness Lodge and Villas FAQ (Part 7) Simbas and Tiggers and Humphreys OH MY!

When I was there a few weeks ago, they did have Wilderness Lodge merchandise (and looks like they just released specific 'camera pins' for each of the resorts - I saw them on line). Much of it had the totem pole with the characters on it. Mugs, thirst, pins, etc. They also had a lot of moose/elk/bear merchandise. I got a red apron with black moose on it and there were other articles of clothing like that and also toiletries (like Moose spit lip balm and soap!).
One of my friends from Orlando sent me a text a few weeks ago that he got me that 'camera pin' from the Contemporary, so I know at least one thing I will be purchasing at the Wilderness Lodge.

Sorry, but there aren't any specifics yet. It's not even officially "on the calendar" yet.

:yay:
Get packin'

Yes, I know.... I should have said the rumours....anything being batted around as to what, when, etc.

Well the last referb was in 2004 and 2005 so I would think it would be 2014 or 2015 since they waited 10 years for the first one.

A fall start timeframe was all that was mentioned on this thread.

Actually, the resorts are rehabbed about every 7 years, so the WL is due. Maybe they wait 10 years for the first rehab:confused3

Just booked a 4 night stay at WL Club level for next week. We are very excited and can't wait! I will take pics to share!

Unfortunately in 2010 I had a room that could have used a rehab. The wall border was falling down, algae and mold on the always wet balcony and some strange stuff growing on the metal plates on the wall and ceiling of the bathroom. Did not make a big deal because I was not willing to take time out of our park days to move rooms. But it is why we are going to try AoA instead, because it will be brand new when we go.

ETA- the public parts of the WL were lovely. No complaints there at all. They even fixed most of the leak roof of the hallway going to the CS and pool from 2008. That was a bad rainy time, 2 hurricanes when were there.

We were last there over Christmas and my only room condition complaint was that the mattresses were in dire need of replacement. We came from the CR where they have those "Heavenly-type Beds" and our beds at the WL were just plain awful. They were sagging and anything but heavenly. I don't know what the mattress replacement schedule is for WDW Resorts, but I hope it's more often than the rehabs.

Again, this was my only room condition complaint and I'm sure every room ages a little differently so it certainly wouldn't keep me from returning. In fact, I'm still considering switching from the Poly/CL to the WL/CL, but can you believe I only had one poster on this thread try and convince me to go ahead and switch? Where are all you diehard Lodgers? Are you all at the Poly right now?:sail:

We are a fair group that is going to give you our advice but not try to convince you of anything!
:rotfl: I would only give you advice if I had stayed at both and could compare, especially since you know more about CL than I do. I know I loved the old faithful club, but I have never stayed at the poly CL or otherwise. Though I know I would hate not having a hot tub!

Just booked woods view for our October Trip! Can anyone show me some pics of woods views? Not the rooms but views from balcony. Thanks!

This thread convinced me to stay at the WL last year when I was looking for a place to stay at WDW. Now we are less than a month away from our trip July 18th - 21st, and I'm still on cloud 9 after reading about it again on this thread! I am not the wealthiest person, so requested a standard room. I got a discount code, and with it I was able to upgrade to a Courtyard View at a cheaper price, so that will be exciting :). Hopefully it is a bear face room!

I have a very simple question, that way back at the original post was mentioned, but I wasn't sure of the answer.

We want to go to MK for EMH before the park opens. Now I know the boat starts 30 minutes before the park opens. The bus starts even earlier before that. I'm not sure if the boat starts 30 min before EMH or just the regular opening time? Also, would it be better if I want to get to the park before rope drop to go for the boat or the bus?

I plan on taking the boat home from MK to get to experience it either way, but what do you think I should do?

Does anyone know the Club level email address? We booked a stay for next week and the first email address came back to me. I can't seem to find the current email address.

Thanks

It would be 30 minutes before park opening, whether it is EMH or regular. But I took the bus on a EMH day and I was the first person there. LOL Left my family because they were taking too long and I wanted photos with as few people as possible.

They came by boat later and there were still only a few people there.

That is the day we were picked for family of the day and opened the park.

I just want to declare my infinite love for the Wilderness Lodge. I spent 10 days every year of my youth from '94-'00 there. I went back in October last year and it brought back so much nostalgia, and it truly felt like coming back home.

Can I take you instead of DD?. DD last stayed at the WL/CL over Christmas so now she doesn't want to stay there this summer since she was "just there" :sad2:

What a wonderful memory you have of the Lodge. As an adult, will you only stay at the WL?

I can't even fathom anyone not wanting to stay at the Lodge if the opportunity was present! I would love to visit the lodge during Christmas plus my birthday is in December so it would be nice to have a little celebration there. Was it beautiful? It always looks so lovely in the pictures with the decorations.

You can take me anytime! At least your DD still wants to go. My fiance won't set foot in Disney, so my trip last year was with my parents and this year it's just me and my mom.

Disney just wouldn't be the same if I weren't staying at the Lodge. It'd be like going to your home town and not stopping by your house.

WDWKOOK, yes, I did get the automated reply. I just checked my email and I have received a welcome from the Old Faithful Club too! Thanks for the link! We have never stayed at the club level at WL so we are very excited!
