The Wilderness Lodge and Villas FAQ (Part 7) Simbas and Tiggers and Humphreys OH MY!

We have booked a 2 bdrm Villa for the end of Sept. (our first visit at this resort) and the only request I made on our resv. was for two beds in the 2nd bdrm. DIL is a smoker and I know the DSA is near the health club(sort of a contradiction there LOL), so I was thinking about asking for a first floor villa to make it closer for her(actually don't know if there are villas on 1st flr) . I don't want to ask for the first floor if the patios are not as private as the higher floor balconies, or not as nice a view, or any other negatives associated with it... Would appreciate the advice of all the veterans on this thread. Thank you in advance(think I have read almost all 200+ pages--I am more excited than my DGD about this trip)

Will be staying for the first time at the Lodge this Nov with my DH. Can you request nightly turn down service if you aren't staying CL? I know at the other deluxe resorts you can, didn't know about the Lodge...

Thanks...

Yes! We did this the last two times. We still have the quote cards they left on the pillows. No chocolate left though. LOL

Here is a map with Villa room locations - looks like no 2 bedrooms on the 1st floor. http://dvcnews.com/index.php/resorts/villas-at-wilderness-lodge/maps-a-photos

The view from the Villa's are not spectacular from most of the Villas, but there are a few which look directly over the pool and have sort of a lake view as well. We had 4th floor corner studio and the view was one of the nicer ones - b/c we had a corner room there was a window looking out to the pool and the balcony looked over the pine trees toward the lake - we could see the lake through the trees and hear and partially see the nightly Electrical Water Pageant. Oh, could also see the top of Wishes if in our studio. Very nice!

Hope this helps - perhaps someone who has stayed in a 2 bedroom will post too.:thumbsup2

Happy planning!:goodvibes

Thanks Minnie & Nana, those layouts gave me the info I think I need. I'm fine with woods views from the Villas--I just don't think I would be too excited about parking or utility views(which I don't think will be the case from anywhere in the Villas). I guess we will just take the luck of the draw. Thanks again for your help.

I just noticed this is your 2nd post!!! I'm so sorry I didn't noticed the one I responded to was your first post on the DIS!! :welcome:

Hi all...planning for our first trip to the WL. Debating between two courtyard view rooms and a 2 bedroom villa, if I can get it. Does anyone know if you get daily mousekeeping if you reserve the villa through WDW and not on points.

Absolutely! When you book as a regular reservation, you receive the same housekeeping as in a regular room. Only with points is it limited. :thumbsup2

(although with the bedbug infestion in the US right now, affecting hotels/resorts everywhere, I'd rather have housekeeping stay away!!)

Inexperienced traveller here, but what is turndown service?

Also, 50 days til my first stay at WL!

Turndown service is provided by-request at the Deluxe resorts or automatically for Club Level guests.

In the evening, the mousekeeper will come into your room and re-make your bed (if necessary), turn-down one side, place chocolates or taffy on the bed (depending on which resort), take out the garbage and wet towels (usually), replenish toiletries and towels as necessary and leave a soft light on. Sometimes they will also turn-on the resort channel with the music.

It's so nice to come back to the room after turn-down:cloud9: You're going to love your first stay at the Lodge!

Even though it's done automatically for Club Level guests, the one exception to that rule is at the Grand Floridian where all their guests will have it each night.

That sounds great! Maybe I'll request it...Should it be requested in advance or when we check-in?

And thank you, I cannot wait!! :)

We put in a request for connecting rooms with our travel agent -- how likely is it that we'll get them?

Also, someone mentioned Santa at the Lodge. When does he come? We'll be there from 12/3 to 12/10 and I'm already planning on taking my son's Christmas picture at the lodge (have a few ideas in mind) but if Santa was THERE in that setting that would just be amazing.

Request it at check-in if you're not staying club level. And CRRF4L is correct that at the GF non-CL guests don't have to request it.

I think it's highly likely you'll get connecting rooms. Just mention this at check-in and if you weren't assigned connecting rooms, I'm sure they'll do their best to accommodate your request.

I was the one who recently mentioned good ol' Santa. However, we were there from 12/23 - 12/31 so he was there 12/23 and 12/24 in the evening in the lobby. I'm sorry, but I don't know what date he "arrives." Hopefully, someone else will knowpopcorn::

Tonight, I changed our CR reservation to the WL/CL:goodvibes. We're excited to be returning to such a breathtaking resort and wonderful club level lounge in just 17 days. I'll file live reports with photos here on this thread:surfweb:

We will be there in 8 days  On my reservation I noted we were first timers. Do they do anything for first timers? We have a standard room, what should I expect for a room? Do you have to request nightly turndown daily or just once at check in? Thanks in advance to whomever helps with answers:)

Love, Love, Love WL since I saw it being built in 1989. Had the oppportunity to stay on my Honeymoon 2002 and am planning a trip with DH and B/G 6 Yr. old twins for 2012 or 2013. Had woods view/MK side room on 6th floor last time. Interested in courtyard view/bunk bed room on upper floor (for quiet) with lake and pool view. Does this exist? Also, intrigued with the "Bear face" rooms. Are they relatively quiet and will I be freaked out if I'm afraid of heights (looking down on lobby)? Recommendations appreciated. Thanks!

The view from the higher floors down to the lobby is a bit much, but nothing TOO bad. And I'm affraid of heights. :) We've always stayed Woods view. This past trip we got Woods view facing the Villas. It was so quiet and that was with the walkway to the Villas not far below our window. I think the Courtyard rooms would only be busy the closer you are to the main level. That's just my thought. No real evidence to prove one way or another.

Our experience of the Woods view bunk bed room this year was fantastic and you have a tad more room. Past stays were in Woods view on the MK side and we were always fortunate enough to get a view high enough to see the fireworks. Good luck!
