Thanks! I've not been able to see any photos of the outside of the villas but now that you told me there are five floors, I will ask for the 4th or 5th floor. Thanks again.

I think my favorite thing about WL was the geyser, I loved waiting for it , then watching it shoot upwards, for a moment you forget where you are.
Also big on my list is the "WOW" factor you get each and everytime you enter the WL Lobby.

We were talking last night about our favorite things about WL and so I thought why not ask my friends here:

What is your favorite thing at WL?

Mine would have to be the boat. Though not original to just WL, the way they come in from the MK you suddenly seem so far from anything else. All in just under 10 minutes. The calm of WL just flows over you....

My favorite thing is the music and the smell! We stayed in the villas so we walked from the villas to the main lodge (or to the bus stop) quite often and we heard the music. I heard the song that plays in my favorite movie and was so excited! It's the song they play in Romancing the Stone at the beginning when they are showing Angelina from Joan Wilder's book out in the 'wild west'. And then when we would come back at night, they must pump in a campfire smell because it was strong and really homey feeling. That with the flickering lanterns were the coolest touch!

I love the music too:thumbsup2. We downloaded lots of the music and when things get stressful I close my eyes, play the music and I'm at my happy place again. Six weeks to go to the next stay:banana:

We just booked our Trip for December 5th - 12th......can't wait to see what the lobby looks like with all of the Christmas decorations up :)

By far it's the boat. When we first started visiting WL in 1994, the best thing was the "snack guy" who came in the lobby with his snack cart and you could get giant cookies or brownies for $1. It was amazing!!! Then the prices went up and then it went away. The boat is amazing. To be able to ride up front and feel the breeze on your way there or relaxing on your way back is amazing!

Great question, Brian! I look forward to seeing what everyone's faves.

You can guess what my favorite is - the water launch, of course (can you tell I'm old timer? lol). True, it is not original to WL, nevertheless it is just as wonderful, if not more so than GF and Poly b/c it is a bit different b/c WL is a bit further than the Poly - which is my other favorite and mos relaxing resort.

My second favorite would be the Villa's Holiday decorations - I know most would say the Lodge Lobby and I like that too, but something about the Villa decorations feel more homey, and in an understated classy sort of way.

...and the geyser...and lake view from some rooms is the best...the EWP for the price is a darn right bargain!!!

I hope you guys don't mind a complete WL newbie jumping on board!!! :yay:

We've been looking at WL for our trip in 2013.... we previously stayed at the GF, but both my DH and I LOVE the look of WL !!

I've started going through this thread and looking at all the pictures.... it's just amazing. It's really helped solidify that this is going to be our next resort to stay ! I'm so excited to keep reading .... ( I'm only at about page 25 of the thread...so I have a ways to go!)

But I look forward to reading more about what you all think of this beautiful resort !!! :goodvibes

:welcome: and it's never too soon to plan or have a ticker!

In no particular order:

1. The lobby, of course!

2. The fireplaces - any time of the year.

3. Passing through the gate and seeing the majestic lodge - like a Lincoln Log house come to life.

4. Whispering Canyon Café. Where else can you drink unlimited shakes and eat all the ribs and brisket you want while watching the cutest stick pony race as you deliver ketchup and drink soda from GIANT Mason jars?

5. The path to FTW and the view of Bay Lake:love:

6. The Old Faithful Club lounge. Neat and tidy with ample seating and those wonderful views of the lobby and Bay Lake. Oh, and that cobbler, did I mention the cobbler?

7. The stream and bridge in the lobby - so peaceful and lovely.

8. The music's been mentioned (love aaron Copland), but it's worth repeating. BTW, www.mousesavers.com has a link here to the track, which is available on iTunes.

OK, what have I done? I feel an intense need to call the WDTC right now:goodvibes

It's only natural after thinking of all those wonderful favorites!! :thumbsup2

I'll see you there! (3rd to the 10th) and I am very afraid that once I see the lodge at Christmas I won't want to go any other time (I already love it but I think at Christmas I'm going to be blown away)

Hey guys -- two quick questions and I apologize if they were asked before. I did a search but couldn't find it.

1) Is the Photo Pass Desk still there -- and can you do as much with it as you can with a park photo pass spot? I'd love to be able to upload my pix and start looking at things on our early nights (and even maybe get my Christmas cards ordered -- since I HAVE to take them in front of that tree this year!)

2) I've stayed at the lodge 2x -- in 2005 and 2008 and I never noticed the playground. Is it new? It could be I never noticed it because I was never going with kids.

Thanks -- in advance -- the DIS boards and especially this post get me so excited for this trip.

Hey Everyone! :wave2:We booked our first stay at WL for October 16-22. My dh and I are celebrating our 10th anniversary and what better way to do that then a trip to Disney! My dh really loves the theming of WL. We're bringing the kiddies along for the trip too;)

I spent several days reading through every page of this thread, and I appreciate all the helpful hints and suggestions.

Even though I haven't stayed at WL, we did go to WCC on our last trip 2 years ago. That was a lot of fun. My favorite thing about WL is the boat ride. We timed it just right and were able to watch the Electric Water Parade as we sailed from WL to MK. That was super awesome!

You know although I have yet to visit all the various resorts on my bucket list, I do thing WL is the one we would call "Home" for everything you mentioned and then some.

Thanks for the link to WL music, I think I might order some to get us in a Wilderness frame of mind before our trip, October seems so very far away.

Just a questions about Roaring Forks... is it okay to bring the food and tray back to your room? I wasn't sure.

No problem! Just remember to bring the tray back to Roaring Fork so that we don't have to walk past it sitting in the hallway for days;)
