The Wilderness Lodge and Villas FAQ (Part 7) Simbas and Tiggers and Humphreys OH MY!

Once we were walking to catch a bus, then DH said, "forget it, let's get a cab", then we'd headed to the front and only one time was there a taxi. So, from then on, we would call down to the valet and request a cab and they would have one for us by the time it took for us to get down the elevator and walk to the front. :thumbsup2

One couple came up while we were getting our cab and the valet told them it would be 10-15 min to call a cab, and that they should always call them first before coming to the front. ;)

Thanks so much

one month from yesterday and we will be there!!!!

i requested an atrium 2 bedroom villa. hope i get it!

any other great 2 bedrooms that anyone would suggest?

IM SO EXCITED!

Just switched from AKL Club Level (not available with the pin code for whatever reason) to WL Club Level using the 40% pin code I got in an email yesterday. Was really looking forward to trying AKL for the first time but oh well.... ♥ WL!

We will be at the WL June 7-12 and booked a woods view room. When I made my room reservation, I requested lobby level and I did on line check in and added ground floor. Does the WL have woods view rooms on the ground floor? If not, what are the best woods view rooms?

Yes, there are woods view rooms on the ground floor.

it's hard to believe but only 84 days left until we walk through the doors at the WL... we'll miss having Stan greet us but can't wait to say hi to Humphrey

I was impressed with the greeter who was on duty in early May. Didn't catch his name, but he was very friendly and welcoming.

Hello!!!
I am so excited about our first stay at the WL in November! Because of the pin code i just had my travel agent switch us from Standard Room view to Courtyard view...it actually saved us about 200 dollars..not bad! Just wondering though, are the courtyard views usually more desirable than the standard?
Thanks!

Little Lulu, do you know what the odds of getting a bunk bed room is? Any idea how many bunk beds on CL?

Thanks!

I don't have any information on the number either, but I will say that I just returned from WL, stayed CL, and had requested a woods view, MK view. We stayed in rm 7042 and were pleasantly surprised to find bunk beds.

We also had a wonderful view of the castle (could see almost the whole thing), could see the monorail crossing in front, and an awesome view of the fireworks every night. The balcony (as all are on 7th floor I think) was a solid wall/railing, which I was happy with for privacy purposes.

Extremely excited for my first stay at the Wilderness Lodge Villas. I'm in the process of trying somewhere new each year before I settle on my favorite 'home' resort! I've been wanting to stay at the Wilderness Lodge during Christmastime and am so excited for that to finally happen this December!!! I appreciated this thread a lot. Thanks! :)

I'm a bit confused by the maps of the rooms & lodge and locations of the Villas. Does anyone know if any of the Studio Villas have Cinderella Castle views? Thanks in advance!

HI, I'm a little confused about the number of floors :confused3

How many floors are there in the North Wing by Otter pond?
Are there rooms on the first floor?

As for the top floor with the enclosed balcony: I've read you can't see anything sitting down, but is the view obstructed at all if you're standing up?

Thanks

Besides in our room, is there anyplace else at WL to watch a nationally televised football game? When we are there this fall, DH and DFIL will NOT want to miss the Monday Night Football game. :happytv:

Are there TVs in the Territory Lounge? Or do we have to go all the way to DTD or the BW for a sports bar?

TIA!:flower3:

i don't know if they still do, but TL used to have TVs. i was very excited to watch my alma mater playing in a bowl game while we enjoyed a cold beer & some wonderful BBQ chicken pizza @ TL!

The top floor is the Club Level. You pay extra to stay on that floor, unless you score major pixie dust and get an upgrade. If you stand, you should be able to see just fine.

Yes, there are rooms on the first floor in the North Wing. You go down the ramp from the lobby to that floor passing by the Roaring Forks quick serve area.

Courtyard View rooms are definitely more desirable. They overlook the pool area or (and there are only a few of these) some face Bay Lake. These rooms (facing Bay Lake) are located at the tips of the North and South wings. Standard View rooms offer views of the roof or parking lot.

I don't think that you would be able to see the castle from any Villas location. The main building and lots of trees would obstruct the view. Only a small number of rooms face that direction anyway.

There are 7 floors, ground being level 1. Ground level does have rooms. The 7th floor view would be obstructed by trees or buildings in the same way as a similar location on a lower level. The railing is only waist high, so the top portion is completely open as in any traditional balcony.

Oh yay!! I was hoping I made a smart decision..either way I was just happy to save a little bit of money...and to get a better view..score!!! :)
I cannot wait to stay there..it looks amazing!

Called CRO and asked for :rolleyes1THREE room requests (in this order)

Ground level, North wing, Otter pond.

The CM "Stephanie"- so great- thinks it won't be a problem at all getting all three requests because the majority of the calls she's getting are asking for floors 5 or 6 North Wing. She said everyone wants to be on higher floors for even a chance of seeing the fireworks. :woohoo:

also... 57 days to go and PAID IN FULL!!! :dance3:

The amount of obstruction depends on the height of the trees diresctly across from your room. Like I said, rm 7042 had a completely unobstructed view of the castle. I was in HEAVEN! Total dream come true.

Thank you so much for all the information posted! We have just exchanged into VWL this December! Getting to share the wonders of Disneyworld with my grandson.

Does anyone know if Wilderness Lodge assists with decorating the room for a birthday?

6 months and counting until our wonderful disney VWL trip!!!!!!!

Attempting to find a map of the unit numbers at the Villas... I have tried the link above but it will not allow me to access it???

Does Ft. Wilderness area still have the canoes for rent? I did not see it in your post.

Just returned from our 5 night stay at WL (5/30-6/4). This was our second time there, and it was just as good as the first time.

We had room 6016 (woods/bunkbed). Great view of the castle through the trees and the Contemporary.

Only complaint my wife had was the size of the pillows. They are really small compared to a normal pillow, and we are not quite sure what the deal is with that.

Bus service was pretty good. I do not think we waited more than 10 minutes for a bus pickup at the hotel in either the morning or afternoon. The boat service to both MK and the Contemporary was also good.

We were planning on going to the pool on Thursday afternoon, but it stormed. Ended up in the Cub's Den with the kids for a little while, and that worked out great. They enjoyed doing a craft and playing with all the toys.

I do not think we will ever stay anywhere else again.
