We are just shy of 2 hours from Boston and just over two hour to NYC. IF you look at a map at the border of Northern CT and Southern MA there is a little notch. We live in the Notch.

Nancy - I looked it up a map. We drove past in 2007 on the 95. We stopped in Mystic and enjoyed lunch there. It wasn't Pizza - we had the most delicious clam chowder I've ever had. We found a little cafe that had Indian influences. The chowder was spiced with indian flavours and it was fantastic.

I'm assuming that we would have come within 20 or 30 miles of you. We did stay on the 95 all the way up to Boston.

And I'm hoping Ellen is okay too. I didn't realise there were tornados in the US.

PIO- Mystic is about an hour away. It is a lovely spot in CT. Don't worry about skipping the "pizza" there are far better places to eat in that area and if you found chowder you did good!

Morning, everyone! Scott has the whole week off so it's minimal cooking for me this week. Today I am making tacos with rice and beans. I'm also still fighting an icky upper respiratory infection so I'm hoping to rest some today, too. I've coughed enough to last me a lifetime.

Hey you guys, if I have the time this week I may go ahead and start a new thread. We are still a little ways away from 250 pages, but I may go ahead and get it started anyway. Does anyone mind?

I hope everyone is safe and sound. The weather has been iffy around here and I hope all is well with you guys. Check in!

And the lights?

...wow. That's some view.

Wow, that is an awesome view! I love noodle soups.

For dinner tonight: fresh "but" cheeks--not sure how I'll cook them, but I went halibut fishing yesterday. The cheek part of the halibut is a delicacy, and I didn't have them frozen with the rest of the fish we caught.

I'm going to have to do some research for recipes this week. My friend and I caught two king salmon (Chinook) as well--and one was a genetic white salmon (it had fish in its stomach, so it wasn't white from a krill diet). We are so excited! I've seen white salmon on the menu in sushi bars, but have never had it. :cool1:

I have family coming in a week, and have managed to round up for them:

halibut
king salmon
white king salmon
Copper River red salmon (the reddest sockeye there is and where everyone here loves to dipnet)
moose burger
moose/caribou braunschweiger sausage
Birch syrup for pancakes

Hoping to buy this week:
king crab
Kodiak scallops
Reindeer sausage of some sort

Hoping to beg off some friends:
moose steak of some sort
moose/bear combo ground meat (must cook it very, very well since bear carried trichenosis)
Maybe some silver salmon (coho just so they can try the three good varieties of Alaskan salmon)
smoked salmon

Sounds awesome... Wish I was coming for a visit

Hi everyone!

I hope Ellen is OK, I didn't even hear about the tornadoes.

Brandi, your menu sounds good. I need to get back on track and plan better.

Kim, you chicken nuggets sound good.

Tasha, I had to look up your location to see how you're so lucky to get so many exotic meats. Sounds delicious!

Tonight we're having leftover Chile Verde. It's a Costco this that we opened the other night and have a ton left. We'll eat that with leftover queso from last night. I'm still feeling lazy.

We saw the doctor and the skin substitute did GREAT last week. Her leg is definitely on the way to healing! Probably three more applications and thus part of the healing might be done!

Fine by me. Feel better.

Busy, busy, busy! But I did manage to go to the gym last night, finally. I haven't been in about two weeks. Good thing to as our hot water heater was broken and the repairman didn't come until today. Had to take a "bath" Sunday with a pot of water from the stove. :headache: The thermostat was broken, which they fixed, but it does need to be replaced. The one we have is good for about 6 years and it was put in in 1996, we bought the house in 2000.

Dinner tonight will be turkey meatloaf, some sort of potato dish and some sort of green vegetable.

Hi All!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dinner is wine and crackers for me. Marisa and I went to Boston to see a Top Chef demonstration. Tiffany and Hosea:love: It was at Fanueil Hall and even though it was rainy and gloomy the demo was wonderful! Jasper from Jasper's Summer Shack was one of the judges of their quick fire. They were open and had so much to talk about. We gortautographed books. :goodvibes Lunch was inside, Gyro for me and corn chowder in a sour dough bowl for Risa.

Buddy is taking Kady on a dinner date to a Chinese Buffet she likes.

I have been checking in to see any posts from Ellen........saw the tornadoes on the news and have been worried since.

Hey gang!
Dinner tonight is simple, chili's take out. We leave on Sunday for Disney! Trying to clear out the fridge and I forgot to pull out the left over we were going to eat, so take out is whats for dinner! :)

Lucky you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

...they. are. NOT. chicken. nuggets. :snooty:

:rotfl2:

Marilyn, bummer on the water heater! We've replaced all the water heaters plus one in our units if the last 2-3 years, so we're good for another 10-15 years.

I don't know WFD, we're at the hospital waiting for an xray. Our friend Arline fell over the weekend, just checking it's not fractured.

Wednesday night - dinner at mum's. Rice, curry, stir fry and chinese soup. Just what I need on a cold Melbourne night.

Lindsay - thanks in advance for setting up the new thread!! Fine with me. We are getting close to the end; so we might as well plan the new home. :goodvibes

Tasha - Salmon and Moose? Sounds like an outdoor cook-out to me.

Kimmar - Your not.chicken.nuggets do sound good. :thumbsup2

Marilyn - Hope you pulled up well from the gym. Sorry about the water heater. Hope it lasts a long time.

Nancy - If you have any pictures of your time at Top Chef, I hope you'll post so that I can share in the experience. How fantastic for you and Marisa!

Emily - Nice to see you posting! Enjoy Disney. I'm officially envious.

Alison - Hope you didn't have too long a wait at the hospital for the XRay. I wish Arline well.

Good Morning!!!!!!!!!!!!

Allison- how was the DR visit? Is Arlene okay?

Lindsay- new thread sounds fine to me!

PIO- are you on Facebook? I have pics but don't know how to post on the DIS. I have managed to figure out how to move them from my phone to FB though ;) Someday I will learn how to post glorious food porn like you and some of the other gals on our thread :thumbsup2

It is going to be another hot muggy day today complete with thunderstorms. Dinner is a grilled steak and salad with a steamed green veggie.

Nancy - Thanks anyway. I'm not on FB. There is a video on the boards somewhere that one of the Mods or Web Masters made on how to post pics on the Dis. Let me know if you want me to find it....

Good morning all

No I haven't forgotten about you all - I am just totally swamped at work this week. Payroll and bill week, 2 funerals and Conference booklet. Hopefully I can catch up later in the week.

We are headed to Kearney tonight and are taking the kids out to eat. Nanny & Poppy need a "Lilly Fix".

Make it a great day!!

Good morning ladies!

Well, dinner last night was a bust and unfortunately my tummy agreed. We won't be eating at Chili's anymore.:headache:

I've been doing mega loads of laundry and doing a deep clean, so we can have a peaceful weekend before our early AM flight to Orlando! Cannot wait for my grey goose slushie, which I will be heading for immediately upon arrival.;):goodvibes

Dinner tonight will be chef salad and bread.

Happy Wednesday everyone!
