PIO...yay for being almost done shopping!

Alison...hope you enjoy the recipes and that things relax for you and Fran.

Nan...nothing but hugs girlfriend. Nothing but hugs. I have no advice...again I want to reiterate that I hope you find this a safe place to vent...it's important! And if you need someone to just be angry with you...I'm your girl!

Nan - Why don't you go look at pinterest and if you like one of us would be more than happy to send you an invite. In fact I'm going there now....:sad2:

Ladies, I have a question. Has anyone done a turkey breast in the crockpot? I am thinking of doing one next weekend so we can clear the frozen Thanksgiving leftovers out of the freezer.

Nancy - That's one heck of a will change. You know that we're all here for you should you need to vent more.

Originally the entire estate was to be divided between all the siblings. In the event of a death, such as DOnald, his share would go to his children. Jeanne told me that her oldest DD had tried to get her to make changes but she would never go against with she and her DH had decided. Well, surprise surprise surprise................she left the house and all the contents to Janice. She left her IRA's and several bonds to Janice. She left her checkbook to janice. In addition to that she left the share that originally would go to her intact. No problem, that was what she wanted to do. What got me upset was not that, I am offended that in her will she stipulated that in the event that Janice passed before her all that was Janice would go to Jen and Stephen and then the rest of the will would remain the way it was.
She only would have gotten that from Janice and I am so mad! Not about the money or the contents but that they decided that Donald's children, my children were second string grandchildren. Now Jen and Steve are awesome and they had nothing to do with this. I cannot get past that though. I know it is because Janice looks at my kids as Buddy and mine and all but discounts her BIL but there is no way to look past the way they were discarded/. Truth is that I pretty much wrote her off when she wrote off my kids.

:grouphug:  :flower3:

I understand. If someone did that to my DS, I'd be so mad that you'd be able to hear the nuclear eruption clear across the Pacific Ocean.

Now, would you share again the Cat Nazi who has you cleaning like a madwoman? I missed that and now this inquiring mind needs to know ;)

Well see we lost a lot of old cats in the past 2 years, so I've been on the lookout for new cats. The previous 10 or so cats that we acquired, I had no say in their personalities, they found us and we took them in. Now that the crazy lady down the street who never fixed her cats is gone and we don't get out much, we are not finding as many cats to adopt us.

In October I came across Mac at the PetSmart in Visalia. If you're not familiar with CA geography, Visalia is about 4 hours north of the Los Angeles area. We got Mac, the cutie on the right, with no issue. Picked him up in the morning after I fell in love with him the night before.

Well evidently in Los Angeles, you have to have the pet people come to your house and do an inspection. This one also has to give us a lecture on why we need to feed them this uber expensive cat food. However, I have been feeding it to them along with Friskies and they eat all of the new cat food and the Friskies is not winning.

Since our house was pretty messy, I'm sure that a cat person wouldn't have approved us, so we've been trying to bring the house back to "messy" as opposed to "hoarders". :lmao:

If we don't get past the inspection, perhaps we'll go get another cat in the central valley where they don't have to come do inspections. It's really nerve racking that we know we are good kitty parents, but this one lady has to decide that.

Alison...hope you enjoy the recipes and that things relax for you and Fran.

I hope that things calm down. I could really use that!

Just popping in really quickly while the DIS is letting me. I don't know what's up with the DIS lately; it's running very slow and then timing out. Anyway, we are having pizza tonight in between services. I will snack until then.

ETA: How do I get up that ramp in the snow? LOL, I don't. I use the one in the garage :)

Allison, I did not put the cat adoption together with cat Nazi :rotfl2: My niece Debbie is the best pet owner that I know with the exception of her Mom. She had her Otto, spoiled beagle extraordinaire but after having been broken into several times decided she needed a big dog. She went to the pet adoption sites online and found a pit bull big dog mix but was turned down. Why you ask? Because she did not own her own home. What if she needed to move? So she got paperwork signed by Gail and Mike, who owned the home.that they would never have issues with the dog,. deb was there for as long as she wanted.....problem solved. Nope. SO her vet sent a letter stating that he would personally vouch for Deb and her ability to care for this pet. Still no. Deb said forget it, went to the pound and got Jaxon, the most pitiful abused abandoned pit mix you could imagine. I believe no one but Debbie would have invested the time and energy into rehabilitating this dog so it was good for him and her as well. By now the first pet people have realized the error of their ways and repeatedly contacted Debbie to take their dog but she had already committed to Jax.

I know these folks need to be careful but with so many animals who need homes I would think that unless they were going into a bad place they would place them with families who want them. :confused3

I agree! Come join Pinterest with us, Nan!

Never done a turkey breast, but we have done a whole chicken. Comes out great!

Yea, I would have written her off too. :headache:

I'm so sorry, Nan.

Good morning!

Today we're going to enjoy the day before I go back to work for my last week before Christmas vacation! This week I'm making cookie rudolphs with my kids at work, so it'll be a fun week! :goodvibes

Tonight's dinner is pork loin with scalloped corn...the pork loin is a pre-seasoned one, but the scalloped corn is a pinterest recipe. I'll post pics and recipe later if it's yummy.

Hope everyone has a great Sunday!

WFD - The pinterest "best white chicken enchiladas ever" that I've been eyeing every day.;) Thinking I'll roast some green beans too.

I have a few times. It is surprisingly really good. I say surprisingly cause I figured it would be dry but it wasn't.

Last night was so good. I got to hold my little cousin. She is only 4 months and such a peanut. Mr A was never that small. She was born 5wks early but doing very well.

I have to go back and read everyone's post and figure out dinner. Amazing Race tonight I hope my team come in 1st. We have an office pool :thumbsup2

I have my pinterest open so I have the link!

I understand your worries. I was terrified when I had my surgery in August. Funny thing is, I've had surgeries before. This time was worse...I think because I have so much to look forward to with my new wife. If that even makes sense.

UncleR had my Kindle to read during my surgery, plus she ran and got herself a coffee too. Maybe make sure he has some things to entertain himself/keep his mind off of things/calm himself.

Things will be fine.

Or maybe even have someone to sit there with him.

I totally agree with you... I know it is because we are so happy with the life we have now and all that could be lost...

I have talked to him about it and will give him a bunch of different things to read and do... To keep his mind busy.
Thanks again..

Brandi – I’m sure you will be fine. This group here is a powerful one and we’ll all be thinking of and praying for you. Can someone sit with David? That might help him.

The only family we have here is my son and he will be working. So I think he will have to play it out on his own.... I think as Jen suggested if I can keep him busy it will help...

I was very worried when Fran had her first "replacement". The surgery went well, but it took her forever to get out of recovery. The main problem was regulating her pain, so the next two went a lot better since they had a previous time to go off of. Is this an inpatient or outpatient surgery?

It's really not that big a deal, once you change into the hospital gown you lay down on the table. Normally they give you an oral sedative that starts you getting groggy. I know when I went under by the time they stuck me with the IV, I could barely feel it. They tell you to count to 10 and I don't think anyone makes it there! Next thing you know you wake up in a room somewhere and it's all done!

It is an outpatient surgery center, so this is all they do there, and I was so happy that I did not have to go to the hospital.

I hope I don't remember anything... :rolleyes1

Nancy, I have no advice or words of wisdom. Of the people in my life that have passed, I was passed over in their wills, b/c people were manipulative of their fragile states in the end. For me, my mantra is "Everything that comes around, goes around", I truly believe in Karma. So I may not be the one to dish it out, or even be around when it happens, but they will in turn get theirs...

Thank you Glynis! You rock, girlfriend!

Ok, the DIS is acting wonky! I just posted a reply to Jen, and it placed it before her! Kooky!!!

Good Sunday, all! I'm home from Church with Timmy today. He had a hard night last night with a bit of throwing up. No fever, but it made for a long night. I just felt so badly for him. He'd snuggle up to me, telling me his tummy hurt, and to make it go away. I felt so helpless! Needless to say it was a sleepless night for the both of us. He's fine this morning, but I kept him home from church, just in case. I'm hoping we can both take a nap!

No idea what's for dinner today. I'm leaving it all up to Alan. We are having some neighbors over after dinner for a pie night. Yes, another one. This is actually one we were going to have before Thanksgiving, but our neighbors couldn't make it. So, we rescheduled for tonight. So, I've got a peppermint pie in the fridge, and I just finished making a Banoffee pie. Next up is a Derby pie, then pecan. Can't wait!!!

Nancy - I'm so sorry that your IL's are still being pains! I'm glad you feel like you can vent to us! We are here for you!!!
