The What's For Dinner Thread - November '09(recipe index in OP)

Talked to DS, they had a great time at the game. I was supposed to watch the 6yo but she insisted on going and did really well. They were surrounded by Saints fans, including one woman who was dressed like a player, pads and all.

Dinner tonight will be salmon, asparagus and rice.

Hey All,

Quick check in. My lap top is dead so I have been using A's desktop which is very slow and locks up. All is good here. I told myself that I would not get on the computer each day until I work out, so this morning I hit the gym for a while.

Really not much new...I have a sinus headache/thing going on and Riley has been having stomach issues (waking me at night) so I am going to try and take a nap while my 9 month old today is napping.

Dinner is chinese take out...my BIL is staying over so he insisted on no cooking...who am I to argue?

Love and prayers for all...can someone please give me a jingle if I miss anything major? Tom ordered a new laptop for me so it should come soon.

Oh, he ordered it with bing dot com cash back. he said that is a really good site...he ordered an ipod touch for A too...when he gets the $ back (they wait 60 days and then credit the credit card) it will be $145 for the ipod touch...great deal.

OK, off to nap~

Hi everyone. We're still having computer problems at work and the techs seem to fix one problem and cause another so our internet service has been spotty. I was going to try and catch up this weekend, but we are having some family drama. Nothing with Kenny or the kids or me, but trying family times, nonetheless. And I can't really post it here.

Anyway, I hope to be catching up soon.

Trying to get a quick postinfrom work today. Trying a new recipe tonight. Pork chops with shallots and parsnips, we'll see.

Ann--Glad to hear that your dh is having a good first day.

Kathy--those pics are fab! Making me drool!

Becky-amazing pics as always!

Here are the pics of our dinner at Tchoup Chop that I promised Aimee I would post:

*drool*

Was this a special course menu they had? Or did y'all just order whatever looked good?

I'm in computer hell myself... my laptop is off getting fixed, so I am working on a colleagues, but I just learned that my outlook wasn't backed up so I lost all email correspondence and addresses for the last 4 years. :headache:

Kathy, OMGoodness!!! Gosh that looks so good! Makes me want to head to Emeril's here, right NOW!

Lauren, I'm sorry you are out of a computer right now & that you're feeling crappy! Feel bad for little Riley too.

Marilyn, That's pretty normal for Saints fan, even the women! Besides she probably figured if someone got mad & threw something at her, she'd be well protected! ;)

I think I'm going to cook a pork roast for tomorrow. I'll be running all day. I still have cranberry sauce in the freezer, I'll look for a recipe for the pork.

Marilyn – Somehow it doesn’t surprise me about the woman in pads, our fans love to costume like it’s Mardi Gras every game!:rolleyes1

Lauren – Hope you’re feeling better! Congrats on getting a new computer and getting back to working out!!:thumbsup2

Gretchen – Please call me if you want to talk.

Aimee - We asked if they had a “tasting menu” and while it’s not listed on the menu the chef will prepare one for you upon request.:worship:

Hi all,

DH started the new job today. He called real quick earlier to say hi. He is on the road training with the boss. It seems like a good company and he really likes his boss. Once he is trained however, he will really be on his own most of the time.

DS's bed is suppose to be coming today between 12-4. Fingers crossed we do not have the same issue.

----------

Okay, does anyone color their hair from a box? I can not justify the expense ($100) right now on myself and the grey hair is coming in. So I am thinking of trying it myself...so afraid to end up with orange hair. What brands do you suggest?? I am just looking to keep my hair it's natural brown.

WFD- I took out boneless chicken breast.

Ann, DD is a stylist and she says that Clariol is the closest to what the salons use. If she needs to color her hair at home that is what she uses.
Good luck with Luke's bed. How is the back?

Ellen, knock on wood back seems good. Thannks for the hair color suggestion. Bed came today and all is well. DS is all excited .

Sheryl, thanks for the hair color suggestion also.

WFD- spag & chicken cutlets.

Kat, love the food porn. What a meal.

Hope are friend Maria is enjoying a nice cocktail right about now.

Sheryl, the cheese is rolled in fennel, smoked paprika, and black sesame seeds.

Ann, for fish smell, I find that putting a dish of vinegar by the stove helps some.

Hey ya'll.....

I'm exhausted and waiting for this day to be over!

We were up at 4 am to head to Houston, got delayed by fog, then got here and it was cold and rainy!:sad2:

Dinner is something from the restaurant at the hotel while I work on this report for tomorrow.

Can you believe I even checked bags with dirty clothes in them?!? So I could do laundry tonight and tomorrow night at the hotel.... sad, I know.

Marilyn, That's pretty normal for Saints fan, even the women! Besides she probably figured if someone got mad & threw something at her, she'd be well protected! ;)

I don't think there was any danger of that at a Skins game! Most people who were rooting for the Saints were probably former Skins fans who didn't want to be seen rooting for them! :rotfl:

Marilyn – Somehow it doesn’t surprise me about the woman in pads, our fans love to costume like it’s Mardi Gras every game!:rolleyes1

:rotfl:

Ann I use Revlon. I have been for years. Around here the box of cheapy Revlon colorsilk. It only costs me $3 a box on sale.:thumbsup2 You can cover a lot of gray for $3.00.

Lori Traveling with laundry insures you get your own luggage. ;)

Gretchen Sorry your are victims of family drama.

I am off to search for dinner just might be leftovers.

We had a surprise snow last night at least for me. I haven't been watching the news.:rolleyes1. So now it seems winter has struck for us, Baby it is cold out there.

I got your christmas card o my what cute kids you have those eyes just melt my heart

Ihope you feel better.

O Aimee I'm sorry you lost all that from yor computor :scared1:

Laura and Becky I know your leaving soon too when?

WFD- Cream chicken on buns glazed carrots and cauliflower. I had to stop taking my arthritis meds because of surgery coming up and oolala am I feeling it. Doesn't help that we have a winter storm watch my back and hip are my weather forecasters.

:grouphug: to all

Lauri, I got your card today also. I was thrilled with the diaper coupons, thanks :santa:!!!! I was so excited to send out the cards so everyone could finely see the kids. Those are DH's eyes.

Stephanie -- It sounds like Emma had a good birthday. 18 miles... Good for you though!

I had to go back for tonight's Messiah Sing.

We used to always do that in college, and I loved it. That is cool about your mom! She must be getting excited for your visit.

Bob got to try out his christmas present today, an electic smoker.

That sounds like a gift for him and you!

When you cook your scallops how do you get the smell out of the house.

Scallops don't usually stink up my house, but some fish does. I wipe down all my counters and cabinets with Dawn Odor Eraser and then either cook vinegar on the stove, like Becky suggested, or I like mulling spices even better. I just let them boil in water, but if you like mulled wine, you could eliminate the odor and have a drink at the same time. :thumbsup2

Okay, does anyone color their hair from a box?

It's funny because today I actually went to the salon. I usually just color it myself. I've had very good luck with Loreal. I have fairly dark brown hair, and their Medium Brown shade is almost exactly my natural color. I would just stick with their Natural shades. The Warm and Cool shades tend to be either too dark or too red. I have had some misses, but I've come out of the salon before hating the color too. I'm pleased today though. Good luck! I'm glad Ron had a good first day.

I had to stop taking my arthritis meds because of surgery coming up and oolala am I feeling it.

I hope you can find some relief! We leave Friday.

Time to get the kids to bed! Dinner tonight was clean-out-the-refrigerator. The kids had some leftover meatballs and sausages and I had leftover black bean soup.

Ann--forgot to mention I use Loreal Color Perfect--the one with all over color and then highlights. I love it and my hairdresser thinks it looks good too!

Well, dinner tonight was a flop. Was my first use of parsnips, and I just don't like the flavor. And to add to the floppiness, I overcooked my pork. :sad2: So I fixed a pizza instead. Glad to have the emergency Red Barron in the freezer!:rotfl:

Good evening! I read back but I am too tired to think straight. Thinking good thoughts for all of my friends.
Decorating is done, I out the tree up today so that is it! Cards this week and I will be in decent shape.

Dinner was pork in the "set it and forget it" and brown rice with onions, garlic and mushrooms, peas and sweet potatoes, Buddy hates rice

Last night Buddy picked up Giant Grinders.

Will chat tomorrow have a great night!

Aimee, I'm sorry you lost all of your email & addresses! That's terrible.

Stephanie, I don't think I've ever eaten a parsnip! Sorry dinner flopped. You always color your hair yourself? It looks REALLY good, like an expensive stylist! :thumbsup2

Lauri, I'm sorry about the arthritis meds! I know that's hard.

Nancy, Take it easy lady! ;)

We are working on cards tonight. I probably won't be on until late tomorrow, early dr appt. (too early) & hopefully shopping after if the weather isn't too bad.

John had a client dinner so I was on my own this evening. I made pasta carbonara with roasted shiitake mushrooms. It was good but I made way too much. There is a big box of leftovers from this plate in the fridge. Picture:
