The What's For Dinner Thread - March '11 (recipe index in OP)

Congrats on the weight loss! :cool1:

I saw the recipe for the bangin' shrimp on the first post. Do you serve it over the lettuce like it calls for? Or what else could it be served with?

Thanks! The first time I made it, I served it over white rice as an entree. Tonight it is going to be an appetizer so I may do the lettuce but it is really not needed.

Now I want the peanut butter pie...I may make it tomorrow without the crust and use fat free cool whip. :thumbsup2

We are having lunch at Ted's Montana Grill while we are in Atlanta today.

I eat at Ted's everytime I'm in Atlanta, too! I love it!

I need a huge dose of patience. Shopping with my son has sucked it out of me. We can home yesterday with a backpack, postit flags and lined paper. He could not decide any shoes. :confused3 I guess I will go out and get a variety of other school supplies I think he will need but says he doesn't. Like more paper, notebooks and poster board. It becomes very hard to find this stuff come January or at the last minute for unexpected projects due tomorrow.:rolleyes1
He thought I was magic the last couple of years when this stuff magically came out of the basement. :lmao:

:laughing: Gotta love boys. You are genius to stock up while it's all dirt cheap! I buy up TONS of supplies this time of year for work because if a teacher runs out midyear, I have to pay 5x the sale price!

We're taking an easy morning and watching Paula Deen. :lovestruc We'll leave in the morning for Great Wolf and I can't wait!

I hope y'all have a great time!!

Lazy day for me, DH is golfing. We'll probably go out tonight...

Lauren, I made it with lite cool whip, skim milk and reduced fat peanut butter. It sure tasted good when I licked the bowl!;)

Hey y'all,

I'm lost on here as usual!:guilty:

Doing awful in the cooking dept., we had takeout last night & for lunch today. :upsidedow But I do have an excuse, we had our baby boy here overnight, for the 1st time!!! He was perfect!! :lovestruc He slept all night, all though I got up to be sure he was breathing 4-5 times! Bob & I had a great time with him!

Aimee, I really sorry you are going to have to consider surgery! :hug:

Lindsay, Have fun in Atlanta!

Princess, Glad your DS had a good party!

Jen, That steak sandwich looks good too!

Lauren, Congrats on the weight loss! That is really a lot for one week! DVC guests services tries to be helpful, but they can really only give us the basic info.

Janice, I hope you can get the shopping finished, without the boy!

Vickie, :rotfl::lmao::rotfl2:

Dinner tonight will probably be salad. I have to go figure out something for lunch tomorrow, after church.

Jen I am holding you personally responsible for my weight gain. I made the choco peanut butter pie. I had to garnish it with some more crushed peanut and toffee. Yeah it is over the top but the bowl and spoon were mighty tasty. I had a hard time sharing with Mr A. Good thing I put it in the freezer in the garage.

I think we're going to do them as lettuce wraps.

Let me know how the light version comes out! I hope you enjoy! :goodvibes

Lazy day for me, DH is golfing. We'll probably go out tonight...

It is too hot out to golf! It's almost too hot to be inside, at this point. :laughing:

Did you give anyone a courtesy lick? Or did you keep it to yourself like me? :lmao:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Finished up packing for tomorrow and got ready for next week. Made some potatoes for our loaded potatoes with shredded beef. Other than that, it's been a lazy Saturday.
Hope everyone continues on with a great weekend!
Sheryl – How exciting that y’all had Jude overnight! I can only imagine how much you and Bob enjoyed your little guy.:cloud9:
Janice - My pie is in the garage too.;)
Jen - My guys weren’t home so I had the bowl all to myself!:laughing:
I have the same problem. Except with my accent...it's like:
Strewth! Youse can't get half the $#@ ingredients downunder!
Ye dinnae really say that dae ye !?
I thot it was like " Och aye the noo "
and I miss Prisoner of Cell Block H....:sad1:
Blood oath I do....and some of the Aussies do say "strewth" all the time (particularly the old fogies). I use it from time to time...particularly in company I don't know very well and don't feel like I can drop any of my customary cuss words.
Prisoner of Cell Block H? I never got into that series....nor Neighbours.....nor any of the other Aussie dramas. :goodvibes
I'm sorry, but I need a translation! :lmao:
Pie was a huge hit here! Thanks Jen!!!!!:thumbsup2
Oh good! I've never done the chocolate one, so I'm glad it was okay!
We headed out to the local Japanese restaurant for dinner tonight. Both DH and I were just too tired and lazy to cook anything. DS had a great birthday party yesteday.
I have to take a picture of Egg roll for the photo scavenger hunt and I'm not sure if I already shared these pictures or not. They were taken a couple of weeks ago.
I normally have the Bento Box for dinner when we go to the Japanese restaurant. One of the variations is Chicken Teriyaki, which is what I prefer. The focus in this picture is firmly on the Egg Roll :teeth:.
And for the scavenger hunt, this was my submission for Egg Roll - Japanese Harumaki.
Have a great Sunday all. It's the end of Sunday here....and I'll be asleep whilst you're all enjoying your weekend still.
The pie was very good and extremely rich. The chocolate version tastes just like a peanut butter cup.:thumbsup2 I actually don't think it needs the crust, I can't believe I just said that:eek:
I need to post the recipe for the Mongolian beef it was so tasty. No idea yet on dinner, I am still working on my coffee.
We're off to Great Wolf Lodge today. See you guys tomorrow sometime. :goodvibes
WFD: Wolf food...
Good morning!
Jen - Have fun!
WFD - Fish Piccata, crash hot potatoes and lemon/parm broccoli.
I hate to admit it... but I am not a PB fan... though I bet DH would love that pie! :thumbsup2
Will I be voted out now? :laughing:
Had a good morning and went to lunch with a friend I haven't seen in years so that was fun! DH is golfing (AGAIN!!) so he'll be in late tonight. Since he hasn't done the dishes in a couple of days, there will be no cooking dinner from me. I refuse to cook in a dirty kitchen.
This week is supposed to be the hottest yet -109 to 110ish. Woo-Hoo! :rolleyes:
We had Porcini Risotto for starters; followed by a herb crusted salmon, that he steamed and a cauliflower bechamel as a side. Loads of lovely soft crusty bread, far too much red wine.
He served up fruit and ice cream for dessert; and a couple of cups of coffees later
You need to stop eating such amazing food! I'm extremely jealous as I've been eating road food for the last four days.
Dinner: homemade Chipotle bowls. I made cilantro lime rice and some black beans (with onions, seasonings, chicken broth, etc) plus grilled some chicken that I just put a fajita rub on along with cheese, guac, shredded lettuce, sour cream, etc. Nothing fancy but it sure was good.
AimeeDyan Any chance you'll share the recipe? My family LOVES Chipotle!
WFD Tonight? Spaghetti with canned sauce. We got home at five o'clock from a trip to the finger lakes and didn't have time for much else :)
