The What's for Dinner Thread - August 2014 (recipe index in OP)

Monday night here. We did have our hotpot for dinner and it worked out well. In the end, I had some Ramen noodles in the cupboard and that was what DS wanted to have. So, that's the noodles we went with.

DH is talking about cooking a lentil curry to go with tomorrow night's spud dinner. That would work for me!

Hope everyone is well.

Hello all!

Last night I made very thin sliced pork chops cooked in the "Copper Chef" skillet. I bought the pan specifically to make pork chops cooked with no fat and no seasonings. The pan does work, although it seems very overpriced. (Don't buy it for eggs, it literally cooks them rubbery to the point they look fake.)

Also had corn the cob with blackberries for dessert.

Tonight, it is Tacos and refried beans. I use the "La Tiara White Shells" (less calories & they are mini's).

I will be riding out being flooded in so I have plenty of food to cook this week. I am in MO.

Stay safe in MO!

Over the weekend Fran and I had a little argument, I was making a turkey for dinner and had meals all planned out for the next two weeks. She got totally upset and said, "how are we ever going to get out of the old house if you keep cooking big meals?" So, I guess I'm not cooking again until we're out of there! That's motivation to get it done. I tire of food from eating out rather quickly.

However today is my birthday and we have reservations at Lawry's Prime Rib! If you're at all familiar with the Rose Bowl Game, this is where the players dine the night before the game. They keep track of how much each team eats and they say that the team who eats the most, usually wins the game!

I won't be ordering the bowl cut, but I'm looking forward to a nice chunks of meat for dinner!

Today: Peruvian chicken and salad
Tomorrow: nothing (fasting)
Wednesday: Hungarian Goulash and green salad
Thursday: Polish sausage, potatoes, sauerkraut

Good Morning everyone,

Last night was cauliflower fried rice, and David said it was good so I guess it might go into rotation! Ricing the cauliflower took a long time with a box grater, so I might have to look into more/better options for next time. But at only 25 calories a cup it is much "cheaper" than rice! We had bok choy, carrots, peas, corn, green onions, garlic, garlic powder, onion powder, pepper, soy sauce, and red pepper flakes in it.

Tonight is grilled chicken (David), Roasted Asparagus, Bell Peppers and Cucumbers for dinner.

Sounds like a great menu! When can I come to visit?

Ooh! Cauliflower fried rice. Love it as an alternative to rice. We use the food processor and pulse the florets until it gets to the right size. We don't set it to continuous process.

Sounds like an AWESOME birthday plan.

Hope the dinner was great.

So....it turns out we didn't have lentils in the house; so I got a chickpea curry instead. It was equally as good.

So far, we've stuck to the food plan.
Tomorrow night is dinner at my mum's. YAY!!!

Chickpea curry sounds good too. I need some indian food. Time to plan.

Exactly. I have both lentils and chickpeas at the house. Which one should I make?
