The Walt Disney World Annual Passes Open for Sale

I’m a little confused. Park availability depends on the type of ticket you have? So someone with a regular park hopper can reserve a particular day while an AP holder cannot?

3 types
Regular ticket holder
Disney resort guest
AP

You can be in more than one group if you have an AP and a resort guest and so on.
The hopping part only deals with afternoon availability at each park.

Thank you. Based on previous comments regarding issues getting an AP reservation, is it more difficult to make reservations with an AP than a park hopper ticket? Does it matter at all if you’re staying on site? I realize an AP has a limited number of reservations without a resort reservation, but is that AP holder less or more likely to reserve a day than a regular ticket holder? Just trying to understand if there is any downside to us getting APs for our January and June trips (staying at a Disney resort).

AP just has a different bucket - I have seen often where it has availability and regular ticket and Resort do not. October 1 is a special case. I’ve been tracking, and even if a day is booked, you can almost always get at least one park the night before, the park Reservations have been pretty much always available other than long weekends. I did a resort stay prior to thanksgiving last year, and for one of our days, we reserved DHS via the AP bucket, because the resort bucket had no availability.

Exactly, a lot of AP holders are locals just reserve a a few days out and change their mind... worst case scenario one day you might not get in park of choice till 2.

I upgraded my unused park tickets to APs this morning. Finally! Tried to do this earlier and was on the Disney Loop hold; my calls were eventually dropped. Very easy this morning. I used the call back option. When I spoke to the CM that made it happen, it took all of 4 minutes. Excited! We leave Wednesday and have 10 nights booked at the Campground!!

Glad you were finally able to get through! Hope you enjoy your upcoming trip.

Disney is sometimes less than clear in their messaging. Or maybe the new park res system rolled out better than expected?

Last week, they said you might lose your park pass res if you are upgrading to an AP.
Now, they say you won't lose any park pass res so long as you link the new pass to your MDX account and your new pass isn't blocked out.

I still have my 7 reservations from my 7 day park ticket I originally had in December. I upgraded and I still see those reservations there. It’s been a few days so I’m hoping they hold on

Thanks, I actually called DVC members service today to upgrade they said it could be update without losing my park reservations. They said they would like update today but took all my information and would call back no less then 7 days prior to my arrive date. Did you do online or by phone?

Don’t forget the wrinkle of some people being told they will only get to keep their park passes if they have an on-site resort booked.

I did mine at Disney springs. Originally they said I would lose them within 24 hours and even guest services said there was nothing that could be done. However I still see them

I have a trip starting next week and was planning to apply my 10-day ticket to a Sorcerer's Pass.

If I already have both park reservations and resort reservations would the black-out dates still apply? There are 3 specific days I have park reservations for where the Sorcerer's Pass is blacked out.

If the pass is blocked out, you will not be able to enter the park. A resort reservation will NOT override the block out dates.

Hi.
I am getting ready to purchase the IncrediPass and Sorcerer's Pass.
Is below all correct for APs:

*I still need to make ressies at my first park.
*I need to make a ressie at the second park if I want to hop. With AP, do I still need to go anytime after 2:00 pm or can it be anytime?
*What happens if I want to visit 3-4 parks on the same day?

If I am not sure I want to go to a second park, can I come back to my resort (BWVs) and see if, for instance, MGM is open at that moment and book? (For instance, can I book a park an hour or so out that I want to go to if it is available)?

I will be staying onsite and DVC. However the IncrediPass that my mom will purchase will be used both onsite and then a trip in February where she will be offsite. Does above still work the same?

Thank you so much!

Thanks! I was surprised how hard it was to find a straight answer to that question. Makes the pass definitely not worth it for me this year!

Yes, the block-out dates will apply once you upgrade. In the past, you could upgrade after those block-out dates passed (assuming your ticket extended past the block-out); I've read mixed reports of whether that will be allowed now or not. Neither a resort reservation nor a theme park reservation will override an AP block-out.

A theme park reservation is only required for your first park of the day. Hopping can occur after 2pm, pending capacity availability (which to-date has never been denied).
