The WALDORF ASTORIA ORLANDO and HILTON BONNET CREEK Information Thread

For a longish stay, I agree, the tips and the $20 per day do add up. But oh the convenience of it. For four nights I felt like I was really being pampered. We used the bus the first day (back in November), but since we have the WDW Ap's which gives free parking at the parks, and were paying the $20 daily parking fee anyway, it was very convenient to have the valet get the car.

The tips were worth it. It takes a while to make the circuit on the bus, although I have to say the lady bus driver we had the first day was a real peach. Since the bus was empty we had a wonderful conversation so the longer bus ride did not matter.

What I like is a short walk to the elevator instead of the long hallways at some of the Disney resorts (AK, WL, BWV, etc). You go down to the lobby and your car is brought up. I felt fresher when we got the parking lot of the parks. You are literally less than 5 minutes away from DTD, the Studios and EPCOT.

The only more convenient arrangement I have found is walking to the EPCOT international area from the Boardwalk to get into EPCOT. Also pure delight.

Stayed at the HBC on Saturday night of marathon weekend. We got a great FL resident rate of $125. We had a great room location on the 12th floor overlooking the pool. You could see Pop Century and the Studios. The pool looked amazing, but unfortunately it was way to cold to be swimming that weekend.

We valet parked, and used the internet service which was $9.95. We did not use the buses.

We would definately come back here, hopefully for a longer stay next time. We were just here for 1 night so we could see our niece in the marathon on Sunday.

Did you happen to eat the breakfast buffet. I was wondering how much it was. We also got a great rate in March so am looking forward to it.

I was surprised to get a AAA rate of $118.00 for deluxe disney view room $110 per nt for a standard view room for Apr 6-9. I am amazed that this is even still available for Eastertime.Going to give it a try and see. Cant beat it for that price

Worth signing up for AAA.

I am checking ont his today for sure. I assume this was for the Hilton?

Ugh. I'm looking for March and have not found these great rates (AAA). I'll keep trying!

Nope. Didn't eat at all at the resort. We were there only one night, and we had other plans for meals with our niece who ran the marathon that weekend.

Just got a Florida resident rate of $84 for HBC for next weekend! Wish me luck, as I have not stayed off-site in years!!!

DH and I are going to the Waldorf for 2 nights in April for our 10th anniv. i usually stay on property but this hotel looks amazing and the price is so much less that a deluxe disney resort.

For 1 night with AAA on August 6th the WA is $189.00 & BC is $152.00.

I hope you have a great anniversary at the WA. Be sure and post a TR when you get back:)

I was checking for August, too and there are no specials for the WA or HBC that I could find. It's probably too far out now, but I would think by late spring they might offer a late summer pkg. Last month I was able to book BLT at -40% for August, but the WA and HBC don't seem to offer any deals that far out.

I plan our vacations well in advance, so not offering deals/promos. at least 3-6 months out, doesn't work well for me.

OK, since I have not taken a cab to the WDW property before (always used ME) what is the cost? I need something that will transport 1 adult and 4 kids.
Thanks,

We paid $58 for mears cab + $10 tip from airport
$62 + $10 tip for using hotel town car service to airport

We're family of 2 adults, 2 children

BTW, FL tours quoted us $120 round trip from airport to any resort in bonnet creek area. I don't remember why we didn't use them. I think it was lack of time to make reservation...

Someone asked about cost of breakfast buffet, it was $19/pp. 2 kids free per pay adult. Not a bad deal for us since we're big on breakfast.

Thanks for posting this info. for everyone:thumbsup2

We loved our stay at the W/A but transportation is an issue. There are not cabs available (maybe you could call one) They use a town car service. Very nice but about (I am estamating) 20 percent more than a regular cab. The bus to the park is very nice but because they stop at the Hilton first we were not able to get on the bus on one occassion. There is no self park so you do have to tip each time you go in and out. Again we really loved the hotel but when comparing prices you really have to include transportation costs.

ITA!! Although I did take a cab from the WL back one night and the cabbie told me you can make the request for a metered cab from the WA. Every time I went down to get one, they sent a town car. When I transfered to BLT, it cost me $25!!!

The hotel is beautiful, the staff is wonderful and the room was beyond great. But I don't think I can get past the transportation. One night dd and I were heading to DTD and missed the bus. We would have had to wait over 2 hours for the next bus. Also, not being able to find snack-type items drove me nuts until I figured out that I could get them over at the Hilton. All in all, it was a great stay, but I think I prefer being on the property and utilizing Disney transportation. It is definately adult-ish and there is zero Disney theming. I could have been anywhere. I didn't use the spa - couldn't justify prices but did go in and have a look around. I wanted to get a Guerlain lip gloss, but they were out. I didn't eat at Bull and Bear - again, it didn't make sense to spend the $ when dd wouldn't appreciate it, but did speak to friends who had a wonderful meal there. While there for the business meeting, we spent a fair amount of time in the bar area (go figure). Suki was an amazing bartender and supplied us with a wine selection that was offered in the sports bar - which was locked during the week.

I think if you have a stay you should consider having a car at your disposal. You will love the rooms!

From the map it looks like the pool is at the Hilton or is the reflecting pool really a swimming pool. Does anyone know?

There is a 3-acre lazy river at Hilton that has a waterslide, zero-entry, kiddie pools, and hot tub. The Waldorf has two pools - one zero-entry and one with private cabanas.

subscribing- trying to figure out between HBC, WA and the other Hilton property near DTD

The WA is very upscale. The bonnet creek Hilton very family oriented. Both are new. Does the other Hilton have the transportation?

I would say get your best deal.
