The WALDORF ASTORIA ORLANDO and HILTON BONNET CREEK Information Thread

Any updates on the "negotiations" about EMH?

The last time I inquired was in September, so I don't have an update to share. I did find this response to a question about EMH at the WA/HBC from October's "Bonnet Creek Blog":

"We at this time are not qualified as an Extra Magic Hours Hotel."

Thanks for the link and the previous poster for posting about your trip.

You're welcome!

Being DVC we usually stay there of course, but we are looking forward to our first stay at the Waldorf in June. We've stayed at the original a couple times, and think its awesome they have expanded the brand to Orlando. I had been expecting to pay the $229-$249 range that I've been seeing on this thread, but was thrilled to hear a TA friend of my wife's found us $179 for our weekend in June:banana:

I'm looking forward to a bunch of golf, while in return I'm sure my wife will find her way to the spa:laughing:

Thanks for letting us know that you had a nice 3-night stay in the king suite. It sounds like the WA is where you would stay on your next trip to WDW?

I would, in a heartbeat. I do feel the need to point out that we didn't go to the parks so I don't know how I would feel if we were on a trip that was park-centric...but since we go to the parks less and less I don't think it will be a problem for us on future trips...

Great price! I am planning a trip in October staying at the WA but the daes aren't firm. I sure hope I can get a good deal!

Does anyone know of any offers for the last week in April at either the WAO or the HBC? We're booked at Bay Lake Towers with a Magic Kingdom view but I'm wanting a real deluxe not the Disney Fantasy version.
Also, is there a website that shows pictures of the suites at the Hilton? My daughter and her friends would probably prefer the pool at that resort.
Thank-you!

A couple more sites with HBC photos:

Thank-you so much!
You're welcome.

I tried to look at prices for you for the end of April, and unfortunately, there seems to only be availability from April 1-9 and then not again until the 29th. But, people do cancel all the time and something could open up.

The Hilton HBC website has an availability calendar which appears after you've put in dates that are unavailable on their
reservations page. You might also try the WA for availability and try calling to see if you can get a discount that might not appear on their website.

I laughed about your "Disney fantasy version" of a deluxe hotel. It's all about location, location, location. Can they even really claim "deluxe" status with a straight face anymore? They recently had to stop calling it "concierge" level in favor of "club level", presumably since they weren't quite living up to "concierge" status.

I think you'll like BLT though. The CR is where we usually stay and I would consider a stay in a non-studio at BLT a step-up from there. Let us know what you end up doing and if you stay at BLT, we'd love a TR on the CR thread:)

We just booked 2 night stay at the WA in March.

Thanks for all the information on this thread!

Subscribing, DH has tons of Hilton points, this may be the place for us for a future stay. Thanks for all the great info, everyone!:)

That's a great price. I hadn't realized the waldorf was open. I'm going to look into it right now for our trip in June.

Does the WA operate a shuttle service to their hotel from the airport?

No. According to the website:

Enjoy a hassle-free Disney vacation with our private complimentary transportation direct from the hotel to the Disney parks and Downtown Disney and back. Depending on the day of the week, the two private shuttles leave as often as every half hour. You may check with the front desk for the daily schedule.

Should you need other transportation arrangements, our concierge will gladly help you. Round-trip transportation can also be arranged for attractions around Orlando, such as cultural venues, restaurants, shopping and sporting events.

Do the rooms have refrigerators? TIA
The HBC rooms don't, but the WA rooms do.

OK, since I have not taken a cab to the WDW property before (always used ME) what is the cost? I need something that will transport 1 adult and 4 kids.
Thanks,

Thanks,
We always drive, so I can't be of much help.

The WA/HBC is 30 minutes away from the airport. I would contact the WA to see what their transportation arrangement would cost. Since you're a WA guest, you'd think they'd have a special arrangement with an airport car service:confused3

We loved our stay at the W/A but transportation is an issue. There are not cabs available (maybe you could call one) They use a town car service. Very nice but about (I am estamating) 20 percent more than a regular cab. The bus to the park is very nice but because they stop at the Hilton first we were not able to get on the bus on one occassion. There is no self park so you do have to tip each time you go in and out. Again we really loved the hotel but when comparing prices you really have to include transportation costs.
