The Vatican Has Updated the Seven Deadly Sins

On the drugs-apparantly that includes Birth Control Pills. So now I have to go to confession because I took birth control pills? How many hail mary's will that cost me?

"Mortal" sins

And more sin "rules" from the Vatican.

God doesn't rank sin and Jesus died for all sin anyway. We need to accept Jesus :) , not phony legalistic nonsense from the Vatican. :snooty:

Joe, we disagree on MANY issues, but I would never call your beliefs "phony" or insult your faith. We get it, you don't like Catholicism, but that's no reason to be insulting or to belittle others.

The Bible says accept what Jesus did on the cross and confess Him as Lord and Savior + NOTHING :thumbsup2 and salvation is yours!!!
The Bible lists other requirements - baptism for instance. It's a tricky book - almost all Christians end up picking and choosing - believing that some of the words mean what they so, and other don't mean what they so (for whatever reason). You've chosen one set of beliefs, others have chosen differently. It takes incredible arrogance to believe that you must be right, and other Christians are all wrong in these choices. And you know what the Bible says about arrogance.

You werent paying attention. And people at church during a Mass are not considered an "audience"

What do you mean by I wasn't paying attention? I used the term audience in quotes for those who are not familiar with the players in a Catholic mass.
I am a lector for my Church, which means I pass out Communion. I am very familiar with how Communion goes. I have been to dozens of Churches in several states and I can maybe tick off on one hand how many times I have been offered the blood if I am not serving as a Eucharistic minister

My parish gives communion under both species for the entire congregation.

Are you born again? Because I was raised Roman Catholic, and you better believe we had to repent for our sins. We went to confession and were given penance for our sins. You don't just get a free ride because you "believe".

Yes, it's a free ride. :sunny:

Yes, it's a free ride. :sunny:

Ok, so if I'm understanding this correctly-once you say you believe and "accept Jesus"-then you can just do whatever you want? All past and future sins are forgiven with or without remorse or a firm purpose to amend your life? There are no further behavioral guidelines?

That explains a LOT if it's true...

I have never been to a Church were they offered the blood. After going to the Priest or Eucharistic minister and getting the body one then walks away and either returns to their seats or goes over to the Eucharistic minister with the blood. One basically seeks it out on their own. An alcoholic would just get the body and return to their seat. I only partake of the blood if is in not in a communal cup. There was only one Church I ever attended that put the blood into individual tiny plastic cups.

First of all, it's Purgatory. If you are going to mock and proclaim your morality superiority, at least know how to spell what you are dismissing correctly.

I think it's great when people are so secure in their path to salvation, whatever road it is and what form salvation is (be it inner peace, nirvana, Heaven, etc...)
I personally don't understand why one needs to put down other religions, particularly beliefs a lot older than the ones said person is espousing. It's offensive, disrespectful, and to me illustrates a lack of confidence in their own belief system. Or at the very least a lack of understanding of the Beatitudes (asserting your religious superiority isn't very meek). I'm not saying this to anyone in particular. I mean anyone who gets on the "my religion is better than yours" line.

Yes, you can do whatever you want. But over time as God's love renews your mind you won't want to do "whatever you want."

Behavior guidelines are in the Bible and are for our benefit.

All sin is forgiven.

All I can say is I was raised Roman Catholic. Live as a Roman Catholic. And will die a Roman Catholic. If you don't believe in the Church or its teachings, you have the right to choose another path. Or no path at all.

Has the Church made mistakes in the past. Certainly. Are there bad examples of Catholicism. Absolutely.

2000 years and still going. :thumbsup2

But let's not act as if we are the only ones.

Ted Haggard, Jimmy Swaggert, Westboro Baptist Church. Do these ring a bell?

All sin is forgiven.

But you have to ask for forgiveness. Sure we go right to Jesus, and Catholics use a "middle man", same concept, however as you are confessing.

Too bad the Vatican doesn't have understanding. Meekness is submitting to the Word of God, not changing it.

If all sin is forgiven, why would we need behavior guidelines? :confused3

I do go right to Jesus-some days more than others...:lmao:

For our benefit (and the world's benefit).

The same reason we give our own children behavior guidelines, and we love them whether they follow them or not -- just like God does.
