The Vatican Has Updated the Seven Deadly Sins

I am not mocking anyone. When WVRevy said the blood of christ is a bad merlot, that is mocking people who believe!

Fits was not saying you were mocking. :)
I think transubstantiation is one of the more controversial Catholic beliefs and thus gets focused on. Personally this was one of my BIG issues with the Catholic faith. But I would never mock it.

I am not mocking anyone. When WVRevy said the blood of christ is a bad merlot, that is mocking people who believe! I don't know why you picked me out, I happen to be Catholic and I do believe.

It was his post I was referring to..weren't you?

Only for those of us who believe. For those who don't-it's wine. I don't particularly enjoy being mocked for my choice to believe, since I don't mock others for choosing not to-but I can only control my reactions to such things.

If you were to drink the entire cup of communion wine, would you blow higher than 0.0 on a BAC test? :confused3

It is wine.

No, I was stating the fact that the church often uses merlot in its communion rites. I wasn't mocking anyone that believes in the symbolism involved.

And, again, I was raised Catholic, so I'm aware of what the church states. But the reality is that it is wine you are drinking, not blood.

I don't want to debate this on this thread, as I started it to discuss the "new" sins that the church had declared. If you want to argue the realities of transsubstantiaton, I'll be more than happy to do so on another thread. Let's try to keep this one from degenerating into a "religion" vs "non-religion" argument. :thumbsup2

:lmao: yes, but you quoted me as if I was mocking you. Mocking should be a deadly sin! ;)

I'm sorry, I quoted you because I thought we were talking about the same thing. I said for those of us who believe it is the Blood of Christ-for those who don't-it's wine.

Sorry for the confusion! :flower3:

No thank you. I have committed enough mortal sins in my lifetime. Let's not bring the number back up :lmao:

Hey, we're both from NJ - truce! :flower3:

Sorry, my friend, but it may taste like wine, and smell like wine and it might even get me drunk if I took enough of it-but once it's consecreated TO ME and others who believe it is no longer the Merlot you can buy at the liquor store. It has been elementally changed.

As you said-this is not really the discussion we wanted to have here-but it did feel like you were mocking us for our belief or at the very least trying to convince us how right you were for not believing. You know me well enough to know that I'm not going to judge you for not believing, and I don't really think you mean to judge us for believing either.

Not in a long, long time. ;)

As Fits mentioned, I think the idea was to get people thinking about how their "sins" affect others.

No...it's wine. No magic tricks involved. I've tasted wine, and I've tasted the "blood of christ"...which is remarkably like a pretty bad merlot. :teeth:

Fine, I'll stop after this. I think the toothy smile says it all.

Ok, let me see if I can do as good a job as Sr Roberta.
Thanks for the explanation. But I was kinda hoping someone would explain it in terms of DIS points....

PS - The good news is that Hollywood can now make a sequel to Se7en.

WHEW!

Thankfully for Us, battleing on Internet Boards isnt a sin!:yay:
YET!:rolleyes1

I'm on the treadmill while I post.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I seem to remember that the sin is better translated as apathy rather than mere laziness.

DIS posters may be many things, but they aren't apathetic.

Am I the only one who sees the irony in the Catholic Church considering 'obscene riches' as a deadly sin?...............:confused3
