The Vaccine Discussion Thread

Why shouldn't a business make their own decision about to what standard the customer should be held to in an effort to protect all of their other customers?
Of course they can but why would they when the CDC doesn't advise it any longer? Really makes no sense. Businesses don't really want to be in the business of checking health statuses. They want to focus on making money.

It looks like the CDC is about to ease the general mask guidance even more if you are fully vaccinated.

After full vaccination, you don't need masks indoors (and outdoors) in most cases - presumably as long as you aren't in a crowd.

This looks like another way to recommend full vaccination. "You want to shed your masks? Earn it by getting vaccinated."

Doesn't apply to cruise ships or airplanes or hospitals or businesses requiring masks in settings specific to them.
I have not been vaccinated and I don't wear a mask. I'm not sure how you think that is going to be enforced.

Yes, and you're going to lose the business of a large portion of the population that is against vaccine passports. My guess is a lot of small business owners would be against this too.

People have medical and religious reasons not to get vacinnated.

Medical exemptions have been part of every "vaccine passport" plan I have seen.

As far as religious reasons. That's on them. You can have whatever beliefs you want but it does not entitle you to special treatment.

Your religious beliefs could require you to carry a large knife at all times (as the Sikh religion does) but you still can't take it on a plane. Your belief means you don't get to fly on a commercial plane (if you really believe it) not that the rest of the world has to change so you get to do your thing.

As upside down the world has become in recent years, this comment won't age well.

Vaccinal passports? :duck:
With the CDC’s wording today that activity can be normal when everyone around you is vaccinated, it certainly seems they believe a FULLY vaccinated ship (not the 95/98 rule - sorry kids and DCL) would be a mostly mask-free vacation.

If DCL went 12+ fully vaccinated hard stop (they won’t), they could probably drop masks before the parks. This guidance is for the vaccinated, whether the defiant want to believe it or not. Disney isn’t going to fully drop masks (they may modify some rules) “for the vaccinated” and have unmasked parents pushing around Paxton, who’s 5 and obviously not vaccinated, masked and in a stroller. At least I hope they wouldn’t.

Let’s assume vaccines continue working, and we get to 70-75% of the total population. At that point, the 25-30% unvaccinated will reap the benefits of all the hard work put in. They’ll still make fun of us, and say the pandemic ended without them needing to be sheep, but oh well. My life will be back to normal then and I’ll enjoy my Whistle Pig Old Fashioned at Meridian.

If CDC flat out drops the mask mandate for everyone, vaccinated or not, Disney will too. Their staff at WDW will quit when it's 102F outside if they have to wear a mask.

I am curious what religion has stated an issue with this vaccine? I know there was an issue raised by some in the Catholic church with one of the Covid Vaccines, but I thought even the Pope suggested that Catholics should get the vaccine.

They worked last summer and were amazingly pleasant. I thoroughly enjoyed our August trip. Actually, I’d be pretty angry as a FL theme park employee that I COULDN’T prove my vaccine status to my employer and rip the mask off. That’s not Disney, SW, or Uni’s fault.

Also, they (CDC) haven’t done that yet, so the guidance - right now - is for the vaccinated. Want to put yourself at risk and bend the rules, go ahead.

I don't know that it's an issue with any of the Covid vaccines in particular, but there are religions that essentially believe in higher intervention for healing rather than standard medical practices, including vaccines. The Church of Christ, Scientist for one. And some ultra Orthodox Jewish sects were involved with measles outbreaks a couple of years ago. There likely are others.

They would if they want to protect themselves and their employees from any undue risk of being exposed to someone with the virus.

I understand people not wanting to wear a mask but wearing one along with social distancing has proven to lower your risk of contracting the disease. If a business has a policy to wear one..............I will if I want to enter as a customer.

DCL has a policy of washing hands and using wipes prior to entering their restaurants and buffet lines in an effort to curb colds and viruses.................is anyone opposed to this requirement? how many ignore the policy by DCL and dine with dirty hands?

And for those "sincerely held religious belief, practice, or observances", that should still provide herd immunity in the US as the religions you mention above are not a large part of the population here. I think any legislation would keep these types of protections, but maybe I am wrong. Even in Israel, they were able to get the Orthodox Jewish community at least partially vaccinated.

I am hopeful that any exceptions aren't "philosophical" objections. Anti-vaxxers are not a religion/protected class here.

None at Cabanas! They’re hawks at that place 😉

Have they changed the definition of an anti-vaxxer to someone that does not want the Covid vaccine?

I don’t think all the people that don’t want the vaccine are anti vaxxers. But it would not surprise me if all anti vaxxers don’t want the covid vaccine. I should have also said that any mandates/legislation may need to wait until full approval (not emergency) for the covid vaccine are final.

I have not read any posts on here where unvaccinated people are making fun of people getting the vaccine. It’s always the other way around. Your post is an example of that.
