The Updated and All-Inclusive Costume Thread

How do most people attach bibs to their nice running shirts or costumes? If you use the traditional pins, it will poke holes in the shirt. Does anyone have experience with race bib magnets?

I have a race belt from Zoot that I use for triathlon. If you wear it low (around hips, not waist) it works nicely and does not ride up! I do think it would be good to tape around the holes to add some extra support as I recently had a bib rip mid-race which was annoying (it was because it got caught in my extra cold weather layers).

I used race bib magnets for the 10K that I ran in October. The magnets held the bib securely, but it did gradually start to rotate to one side of my torso. Not enough to be a problem, but it definitely didn’t stay exactly where I put it to begin with. I had no problem with timing chip interference.

I am a big fan of BibBoards. I haven't used pins for the last few years.
It is a two piece plastic clip that snaps to itself from each side of your shirt.

I've worn the same shirt for 3 races this year and used pins every single time for my bib and you can't tell. And it's an under armour tech-fabric shirt. That being said, I am definitely going to check out the bib boards at the expo.

I think there's some "trick" with the magnets so your bib doesn't fold in half/magnets stick to eachother if you use the bathroom. But i can't recall what it is.

Follow up on the First Mate Piggy hair: I bought a (too) blonde ponytail hairpiece and tried it on at home and it looks ridiculous on me. I already paid the $15 so there's no turning back now! First race in a hairpiece that's for sure. Feels like next-level costumed running.

I know you cannot always predict the weather, but current forecasts do not have it getting into the 30s and 40s this year.
Luckily it also does not show the daytime temps getting into the 80s.

Finally ready to reveal my 5K costume. It has taken me MONTHS of trial and error and trial and error and trial and error to finally figure out the best way to do this. There are still a few adjustments to make on arrival (and the plan for getting through airport security with what probably looks like another kind of vest), but here it is.... the ELECTRIC WATER PAGEANT!

(Short video of it in motion, but without the music, here: https://1drv.ms/v/s!Ap65rKXejeI2g7t61D7HNUAZZui2FQ?e=zAyTfX)

And yes, I do have a small clip-on speaker to play a loop of the song from my phone -- wondering about the etiquette of that though? I feel like I need the music to really sell the costume, but don't want to annoy everyone around me as I walk. Thoughts??

Omg. The costume idea is awesome, and your execution of it is so amazing! I hope I see you on the course.

Especially during the road miles, I bet most people would appreciate the music / entertainment.

Thank you!! It was DH's idea but truly a joint effort to create it. My hope is to provide some fun and levity during the boring bits. I will be walking the whole thing, since I'm doing my first Dopey and want to save my legs. Guessing I'll be in S3 based on my estimated time. Please say hi if you do see me! That goes for everybody!

Quasi costumes for me. Since I ran the Princess Virtual 10K and Half races last year, I decided to get themed shirts for the run. And I have an opportunity to use them in Disney World this year where people will realize the combination of the two.

5K is Mandalorian Armor Belle shirt.

10K is Mandarlorian Armor Sleeping Beauty shirt.

If I can find a shoulder plushie baby Yoda, I will pick one up to perch on my shoulder during the races.

Half Marathon and Full Marathon in BYU Nike performance shirts as usual. I know they work and that's most important.
