Hello,

I had a great time with the divas and seeing Sarah and Melody on Saturday night. The traffic on the freeway was not bad at all. The only traffic I hit was a minor one when the 5 splits to the 60 and 10 fwy. Other than that, no problems. I got to the park a lot faster than I expected. :rotfl: I called Sarah and said 6pm but I think I got there a little earlier than that. :rotfl: The rain was on and off but it was just light sprinkles and wasn't bad.

I brought a small gift for Heather since I couldn't make it down for her surprise baby shower. I got her a cute pacifier that says "Princess In Training" and also got her a set of organic baby bibs. One had pink trim and adorable elephants on it and the other one was a plain pink print. She really liked them and I'm glad I got to meet her and see her at the dinner. I wasn't sure if she was coming or not as I had not seen her on the sign up list. She was really sweet and she loved the gift. :goodvibes

Prior to the dinner, Sarah and her mom and I all hung out for a bit in DCA. I was so glad that they got to draw in the animation building for the first time. It was fun and I laughed at my Donald sketch. The CM went a bit too fast for us though. I think Sarah and I were still working on Donald's eyes and she had already jumped and had done his hat. We both looked up from our clipboard and said: "Huh? Wait!! Slow down!" :rotfl2:

Our dinner was nice and I had never been to Jazz Kitchen before. I probably won't dine there again any time soon, but it was a good experience and it was fun because I got a chance to chat. Our server was nice but she was way too slow. I believe we were there for over 3 hrs!! :faint: It just took way to long to even get our starters and drinks. The food was good and Sarah and I ordered beignets. She had a coupon for some free ones that she had printed on the DIS I believe.

I shared my beignets with Melody, who hadn't had theirs before. I think we were all envious and drooling over Sarah's mom's dessert. She ordered this double chocolate bread pudding, but it looked more like a chocolate souffle'. It had chocolate gounache and it looked sooooo scrumptious.

I got to talk to kerrtigger and her friend. They were really nice and fun to chat with. :) I talked to Beth a little bit but it was hard because we were sitting a bit far from each other and it was loud in the room. I said hi to her when we were waiting out front of Jazz Kitchen and she ignored me for a second and then said: "Oh!! Hi Rochelle!" She thought I was some random person and was wondering why I was waving at her. :rotfl2:

I was hoping to see Mary Jo but I guess she had a plumbing problem in her home and couldn't make it. :( It would have been nice to see her again too.

I took some pics and will post them later. I wasn't feeling too good yesterday and today. I had heart burn and an upset stomach and felt like crap. I'll be back to work tomorrow. I took zantac and just rested.

that sounded like fun!! :) and yaya for no traffic!! :) yea I am getting excited for my trip again :) hehe I am not addicted to land lol haha :)

That is so cute. Thanks for posting.

Cute pin set!

I recall waiting around for ages for the bill at Jazz Kitchen on the first diva meet, it's one of my pet peeves.. waiting around when everyone is done.

We had good service during our last visit - the rain drove everyone away. Megan ordered the chocolate bread pudding/ souffle which we all shared.. it was good!

Was it a lady CM who did the animation drawing class? glasses, black hair? Had her on last visit also for Donald and she was cruising along a little too fast. Though I wonder if they have changed the scheduling and maybe cutting each class a little shorter to fit in more classes in a day? Plus they show a movie clip before each class now.

I've done Goofy, Donald, Mickey and Pooh.
Pooh was a side view of his face, easiest one to learn and remember later to show someone else.

Donald is tricky for his mouth/bill, Goofy is just fun - even if you totally screw up he looks great! , and Mickey looks weird if you aren't careful.
-------------------------------------------

Dealership finally called, they claim it's just the battery-- we don't quite believe them because it acted so oddly. Power would surge on and off , warning flashers all going and then everything turned off, power steering turned off. Odometer and speedometer gauges bouncing high/low ... to me that's electrical short, not just a battery. We might have a buyer for it thru a co-worker. He's a "car guy" , we won't feel as bad if it totally dies- he can fix it. :rotfl:

No, it was a CM named Katie or Katy. Not sure how her name was spelled but she was nice. I had her before and she let me have her drawing of someone...not sure who and I don't remember. She was really nice though :)

Sorry to hear about your car. If you do sell it, will you get another car? :confused3 Have you considered a Honda Fit? It gets good gas mileage and is roomy inside and the price is not too high.

Pics of a purse I am working on. I didn't make the purse and got it from the mall (it was on sale). I went to a fabric store and decorated the bag. This is what I have so far:

I think we should file this away until this summer when the kids are out of school, you're working ridiculous hours and drop dead tired. Then we'll see how excited you are!:lmao:

Yeah - I know - but right now the money is good!!! :thumbsup2

So here's my question of the day....why do they call freeways in California "the"? For instance here in Washington we call Interstate 5 "I-5". At what point does it quit being "The 5"? Where is the crossover point...the Grapevine...Sacramento...Northern California? Inquiring minds want to know.:confused3:rotfl2:

Weird - but I also reference my Arizona freeways with a "the". We have the 10, the 17, the 101 and a whole crap load more now...but I always throw a "the" in there???

Explosion diarrhea x2 is SOOOOOO much fun. Especially since my husband has been working overtime, and was gone all freaking weekend. We are trying to switch the twins to milk, and it is NOT going well. I think we are going to have to start them on lactose free milk. I did NOT want to do that. But if it helps, I am doing it. Vinny actually sprayed me with poop yesterday. Alex laughed so hard I almost aimed the butt at him.

Vinny took his first step today... Just the one. They are both so close to walking, I just dont want them to do it! But it is about that time. All my kids walked right around their first birthday.

 and just to reference old times...:lmao:

Hi Everyone - I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but if you were going to live anywhere in the US where the weather was warm, there are good job opportunities, crime is low and good facilities are available where would it be? :goodvibes

Hi there,
we just moved from Australia to southern California( in the inland empire, probly around 45 mins drive from LA)
i am loving it here, although this is our second winter in a row, i am really looking forward to the heat, only a couple more mths :cool1:
im not sure on the job opportunities, as my husband works from home for his Australian company and im a stay at home mum, although i will be looking for work once immigration is done with!
where we are now, we have had no problem with the crime, although nt a crime but we do get people at the door begging for money sometimes!
in around a yr we are hoping to buy a house in OC or around that area!!

are you thinking of moving out here??

Low crime- yep
jobs- depends on what type, but for most jobs.. yeah sure.
good facilities - what do you mean? Would it be: Excellent medical care, museums, theater, parks/ recreation opportunities, good public school system, affordable housing - yep to all of that!

warm?
Define warm? Is four months of the year free of snow good enough for you ?

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I live in Minnesota.

We moved to inland empire area of California for a year, realized that we had missed some aspects that are vital to our way of life (excellent schools, premier health care, no pollution, affordability) and moved back to Minnesota. But I miss the warm, the ocean, plants growing... If I could have the best of both places it would be a perfect world. :goodvibes

When we get old and rich..... :rotfl2: .... we hope to be "snow birds", live in California all winter, escape the heat to return to Minnesota in the summer. :thumbsup2 Now if I could just win the lottery... :rolleyes1

My local grocery store doubles 10 coupons once per month (with a $25 order), did three rounds today before my sis called it enough!

Saved $134, spent $47 and will get back $10 in a rebate.
Chicken, several big bottles of juice, bunch of yogurt, tons of toothbrushes, toothpaste, bunch of frozen pizza, couple bags of frozen vegetables, cereal (not that I need any more-- I think we are up to 30 boxes now), ice cream, bunch of cat food, soap, detergent, TP, rice milk and two packages of cookies that I was overcharged by a $1 each (darn, not free after coupon). Whew!
I had enough coupons, could have done two more orders. ;)

First time for my sis to do doubling, she didn't realize how hard it is to pull together a deal for lowest out of pocket. She didn't do too bad for a beginner. :thumbsup2

Welcome newbies to the thread! :cheer2: :dance3:

Hmmm...it's been a little quiet here. Don't tell me you have all abandoned the DIS for Facebook! :sad2: :rotfl:

Hi Roandlilsmum. My DH has been to the US 7 times for holidays now and DD and I just went for our first trip last May. We all absolutely loved it and are keen to move over there at some stage. The challenge firstly is knowing how to get the appropriate visas etc and then deciding on exactly where we would like to live. We definitely like warm weather (no snow) and for that reason our first thoughts go to California, Las Vegas or Florida. We are in the very early stages of exploring it as an option. What made you move to the US and how did you go about it? Thanks so much for your help! :goodvibes

I hope you do win the lottery funnygarcia so you can live the lifestyle that you are looking for! :thumbsup2

By warm I mean definitely no snow and by good facilities I mean a lot of the things that you mentioned, but also access to the fantastic road system you have there in the US. It is an exciting option to think about and hopefully get advice from everyone on what our best starting point is. Thanks for your help so far! :goodvibes

I found a purse at the mall last week that was on clearance. I decided to try to decorate it. I am still working on it and thinking of ideas but this is what I've done so far:
